I would not recommend this restaurant. They do not provide a good experience and their food and menu is very ordinary at best. The service is lousy and rude, you are,are to feel like and inconvenience, it's like they could care a less if you were there supporting them or not. And god forbid you bring in a voucher and get stuck In a corner table and nearly ignored. The GM who greets you (term used loosely) is rude, pushy and then some. This place is based on a reputation from years past. We are now telling our friends to consider any other Italian -American eatery OTHER than this place. We will never go back.

I dined at Ralph's because I received a gift card through living social. I was impressed with the food. What made our experience even better was reading the paper place mat about Ralph's being the oldest Italian family owned restaurant in the country and now the oldest Italian restaurant in the country as well. Very cool to see who else has dined at the restaurant while you wait. The space is small, so I would encourage reservations. The only drawback was that our table was located next to the door that leads into the kitchen. The table was a 4 seater, but there were only two of us and it felt as though our table jetted out a little further into the aisle.

So have been to Ralphs many times, and the food is always good. Love the veal saltimbocca, it melts in your mouth. and this time tried a special of bowtie in vodka with shrimp which was also very good. our server was excellent, very attentive. The only issue was the temp in the restaurant. it was literally freezing! I had to walk to my car and get a sweater and literally couldnt wait to get out of there to warm up. felt like the ac vents were just blasting right on us, which wasnt great for the temp of the food either. got cold really fast!

We came hear for lunch on a Sunday afternoon, the restaurant had very few people, but all the food was great. The only complain - the restaurant is dimly lit, which creates a nice romantic atmosphere, but was hard on the eyes when we tried to read our menus and an interesting information about the restaurant that was on the table. Maybe you need to come with a flashlight ;-)

Bruchetta brought to the table with burnt bread. It was bread with salsa in a bowl. Calamari in a fishy tasting red gravy, terrible. Lasagna was minus some meat and cheese. A lot of noodles in gravy. Cannolli was a single on a plate with whipped creme. Filling not very thick. I've had better. Chocolate Martini was milk, vodka mostly. Price 60 per person. We had 6 in our party. Will NOT go back. Riding on prior reputation per my family in south philly.

For the best in Italian cusine the finest resteraunt in Philadelphia is Ralph's Italian Resteraunt. For the best Chicken and Veal dishes served in a an old-world fashioned go to Ralph's. If it has been good enough for Teddy Roosevelt, Tony Bennett, Frank Sinatra, and Frank Rizzo for the last 114 years, then it is good enough for your family. Run, don't walk to Ralph's

To be clear, Ralph's is NOT an Italian restaurant. It's an Italian-American restaurant. They serve generic fare that any decent diner in the tri-state area can produce. They advertise about the days they served the likes of Frank Sinatra, Lena Horn, and other celebrities. In my opinion, those days have long pasted and what we're left with is a genuine tourist trap. If your not a foodie, or just plain old don't know any better, it will be "fine". But if you do, you will most certainly be disappointed considering all the undeserved hype. I'm not kidding when I say the Olive Garden can match their food dish for dish. Sad.

No wait. Lentil soup was delicious. Manicotti was homemade and also delicious. Veal parm was large, but veal was extremely thin and breading was thick, so couldn't really taste the veal. Cheese and sauce were tasty though. Italian kiss coffee was yummy! Cannoli cake was good, but would have been better if it had been taken out of the frig for a while. Will go back.

Good food at America's oldest continuously family-owned and operated italian restaurant. We went with business partners partly for the novelty as it was their first trip to the US. The food was more than adequate with surprisingly large portions. The environment was the perfect amount of casual and the prices were very appropriate. Will definitely be taking customers and co-workers there in the future. I highly recommend Ralph's for the right events. Specific to this visit, the mussels white were great (a little spicy, which we loved) and the veal parm is a solid entree.

Fifteen years ago, when I went to Ralph's for the first time, I wondered why everyone raved about it. Took me about ten minutes to understand. Whenever we get visitors from outside the area, we take them to Ralph's. Subsequently, they tell their friends, etc. Center City restaurants are really good. Ralph's stands alone.

The food is always delicious at Ralph's. Only complaint is that a salad does not come with dinner. Ordering the large salad from the menu is too much - it is too big. It is a shame that Ralph's does not offer a small side dinner salad - I would be happy to even order it a la carte for a couple of bucks. As a result, rather than order the large salad, I do without - and Ralph's does without any salad revenue.

Ralph's food never disappoints. There gravy is outstanding. I had the gnocchi and it's just like my mother makes. My husband had the veal parm. The portion of veal was unbelievable. My husbands stomach is like a bottomless pit and he could not finish it. The seating is a little tight. The next table is right next to you. The food makes up for that. We will be coming back no doubt.

Have frequented this restaurant for many years. The service is always good. The chairs are always small and tables too close together but was worth the discomfort with great food as the trade off. NOT THIS TIME! The food (sauteed escarole) was watery and flavorless. The Roasted peppers tasted straight out of can or jar very sour tasting, bitter, watery and just not what you expect from Ralphs. My platter was lukewarm and my fellow diner who has also eaten here many many times had a veal parm and while large was not tasty to the point that I asked if Management had recently changed. What a shame Ralphs you can do better don't just live on rep.

Ralph's still does some of the best traditional Italian in South Philly. We had the tomato and mozzarella salad for an appetizer. Tomatoes were fresh and chilled and mozzarella balls were salty and delicious. For dinner, the veal parm (huge! enough let for a generous lunch sandwich) and chicken with sauteed tomatoes, which was good, but not exactly what expected. Cannoli cake for dessert was out of sight. And a nice half carafe of house Pinot Grigio with the meal. Overall, a very good experience. A word to the thrifty consumer, Ralph's has raised its prices on some dishes as much as 20 percent since last year.

I always love my Ralph's dining experience. We pull up to the curb, beep once, and the valet comes right out. We never have more than a few minutes wait, but like to give them notice by making a reservation. My favorites are the mussels over pasta and the veal saltimboco (sp?).
