Still, a great meal, just too much to eat at one sitting! Ralph's passes the test. The sauce tasted like my Grandma's. The meatballs were incredible. The gnocchi was the best I've ever had. The sauce, truly, is the best indication of a restaurant's chops, and Ralph's passed with flying colors. However, we have never had a bad meal at Ralph's Restaurant. Sarcone's bread is just the way we like it. Their gravy (red sauce) is perfect. The mussels in red were nice and moist. Our appetizer invention, broccoli rabe, roasted peppers, anchovy and provolone shavings (that they had no problem preparing) was delicious. Our entrees were expertly prepared and cooked to perfection. We always bring home a leftover so that we have room for dessert, cannoli cake.

I brought a group of 10 to celebrate my boyfriend's & my college graduation. Our reservation was for 7:15, but when we got there we had to wait until close to 8 before we actually got a table. When we were finally seated, we had to wait for quite a long time before a server came for our drink orders. Then we watched as all the tables around us (who were seated after us) got drinks, bread, and finally their meals. We didn't get bread until our entrees were brought out, and we were waiting for food for over 40 mins.
Once the food finally came out, it was fantastic and everyone enjoyed their meals.

The appetizers we ordered were huge so by the time the entree arrived we were almost full. My wife ordered the veal parmegiani and had to take home practically all of it. The experience was very nice, the wait staff was friendly and attentive and there was also valet parking available on the day we went. Altogether a very pleasant experience. I had the broiled sausage with broccoli rate in a light garlic sauce over penne. It was cooked perfectly. The half-carafe of wine was perfect for my wife and i, and a bargain for $10. The tables at Ralph's are hilariously small. There is rarely enough for all the plates. We asked for an olive oil dipping sauce and were brought a delicious concoction with lots of roasted garlic - just another sign of the excellent service we always get at Ralph's. Philly place to take an out of town guest. Ralph's fit the bill: Near the Italian Market, 100+ year legacy. I figured it was a safe bet and it was. It's a quaint ambience. Seats 40-50 in one room. We ate at 6:00pm on a Wednesday. Valet parking ($8) was helpful. The two-tops were occupied and there was a pleasant conversational hum. We left at 8pm and the place was virtually full with some large groups. It was moderately loud, but conversation was not inhibited. I had the ceasar salad which was just ok. Guest had artichoke hearts and used lots of salt. Both had Veal Rollatine. Very good. Thin cutlets were well done; Sauce excellent. Wine list good.
