Diner Reviews
  • "Having dined here several times for special occaions I will certainly return again. The rack of lamb was excellent, cooked exactly the way I orderd as was my guests'. The service was excellent and we felt no rush - just enjoyment of good food and relaxed dining. My compliments to chef and staff."

  • "We have been dining hear for many years and keep coming back. The food is excellent, we especially like the rack of lamb and the duck. The seafood is also good and very fresh. The wine list very good and the service is usually outstanding. Gets very busy on holidays. Check their website."

  • "I love duck but only served as half a duck. the taste is better and half the fun is getting at all the duck. we searched all over Jacksonville but most restaurants serve duck breast only with fancy sauce that I do not like. Your sauce was perfect as was the entire meal."

  • "Overall a great time for us. We were thinking of using the Raintree as a rehearsal dinner venue but we wanted to try the good first. Service was good, prompt and friendly. Decent variety of options on the menu. No complaints here."

  • "We dined on the patio and loved it. My bf had the Pork Schnitzel and I had the Eggplant Parmesana. He enjoyed his dish, although it wasn't exactly like he thought it would be. I loved the Parmesana and the Olive Medley appetizer. The Dome Cake dessert was out of the ordinary in a very good way, and the patio featured homey brick and bright flowers. Small drawback: the patio was pretty smokey, but where else can smokers eat and smoke these days? Somewhat bigger drawback for me: a bit of a lack of vegan entrees, which I would have liked. I admit, I didn't ask for any special modifications, so maybe that's my own fault. Overall, we really enjoyed it!"

  • "Raintree is a charming place to eat a special meal and have time to relax and have conversation with those you are with. What I didn't realize, until this visit, is how accommodating they are to make the experience special to you. I'd read of the frazzled onions that are part of the Raintree salad and asked if I might have a few on my dinner salad for an upcharge. Done! No up charge and delicious. My dining partner had health issues that prevented her ability to eat one of the mixed vegetables (very good by the way.) Wonderful fresh and delicious tomatoes were substituted for her instead. Beef Wellington was a rare treat and done perfectly to my requested medium."

  • "Two of us in our group ordered one of the daily specials. Neither of us enjoyed it as it was tough and dry. When the server asked how we were enjoying our meal we mentioned that it wasn't our favourite. She comped dessert for all four of us and told us that she told the chef about our comments. I was impressed that they took our comments seriously. Otherwise, had a great salad and loved the charm and ambience of the old house."

  • "Good food. Neat location and decor. Pleasantly different from the usual chain restaurants. Excellent food. Pricey but well worth it for a special night out."

  • "It was really nice that this restaurant had a shuttle. They picked us up from our B&B and dropped us back off. The food was okay but the ambiance was better. Had the shrimp and lobster pasta and the lobster was the highlight. Not a whole lot of flavor to the pasta or shrimp. My husband had the blue cheese filet which he enjoyed but the sides weren't all that great...not a lot of options so he actually got fries and a veggie medley."

  • "Delicious food - unique dish w/veal topped w/shrimp & crab. Prime rib cooked to perfect "medium rare" - wonderful salad, too. Bar is delightful ahead of meal. Outside dining looked like it'd be great, but we dined inside due to misty rain. Service was excellent. Just like the cozy feel of the old house in which the restaurant operates. YUM!"

  • "Have visited Raintree numerous times and always enjoyed it. Food is superior, and service is excellent, cheerful, and friendly. They will accommodate gluten free."

  • "Reservations through Open Table were ok and we were seated upon arrival. Our waiter did an excellent job. The food was so-so; Examples: fettuccine al fredo was unusually dry; the grouper was cooked nicely, but the panko parmesan crust was way too thick, and hid the taste of the grouper. Salads were a high spot, with tasty raspberry vinaigrette dressing. Only two dressing choices, however."

  • "great dining experience. This was my first time to try their Sunday brunch.it was a sunny spring morning so lots of people eating outside. We chose to eat inside. The staff was courteous prompt and the food was great.you can choose from a buffet table fresh fruits and breads and juices as well as order fresh made items off the menu."

  • "There are many resturants that make a lot of claims, but do not deliver. Rain tree delivers! We both had the Chef Specials, Grilled Grouper with Champagne Butter Sauce on the side and Shrimp Scallop Pasta. Both were excellent."

  • "Raintree Restaurant in St. Augustine is excellent. The food is outstanding and they will accommodate gluten-free. We have been there at least 5 times, and Raintree has never disappointed."

  • "We have been dining at the Raintree for over 20 years. It has indeed changed a bit over this time, some for good, some less so. I remember when it was regarded as a fine, elegant dining experience. It has become more casual, but I think that it just fits the market better. What remains is a quality, dependable dining experience that keeps us coming back."

  • "ordered mussels, about 5 or 6 were not open, mentioned this to the waiter, he seemed to not really care. My wife had pasta with tomatoes, didn't really look or taste exciting"

  • "Had a hard time between three and four stars for the food. I had steamed mussels. Quite good but usually make better at home. My wife was given garlic bread for dipping with her escargot but I did not with my mussels which had plenty of broth for dipping. I asked for a serving of bread for dipping and was brought slices of what I am not sure. We both had the grouper special and it was a bit over cooked but good."

  • "We went to a different restaurant the night before and were completely blown away with how good it was. When we got to raintree we sat outside it was very nice. However when we got our food it was just ok. It wasn't bad just not worth the money. We spent the same amount the night before and the food was so much better."

  • "We were on vacation with a large group. The restaurant sat us down right when our reservation time was scheduled. It was a beautiful restaurant, and everyone in our group loved their food. We had some very picky eaters, and this was the only restaurant that everyone truly enjoyed everything."

  • "That about says it all. After a day of playing tourist around the downtown area of St. Augustine, my husband Dave and our dear friend Ms McMillan enjoyed a most welcome array of food and wine that came our way and to enjoy each other's company. Our waitress was excellent in taking great care of our every need. We highly recommend an evening spent at the Raintree Restaurant. A perfect ending to a perfect day!"

  • "We were seated promptly in a nice section of the restaurant. Waiter was knowledgeable and personable. Drinks, appetizers, wine, dinner and dessert arrived with good timing. My beef Wellington was cooked exactly how I like it, medium-to-rare, and it was delicious. The wine list is very good, and we selected a Malbec that we have since sought out at our local wine store. I had asked that a candle be placed in our dessert as a surprise for my companion, who was celebrating his birthday. The kitchen added "Happy Birthday" greetings drizzled in fruit puree, which was a nice added touch."

  • "disregard the required 15% add on gratuity without a doubt that you find the service and the meal does not credit the 15% just tell them the issue and surely they would comply if the results of the complaint was truly valid."

  • "The restaurant is lovely, service is prompt and friendly. I was not impressed with their beef Wellington (soggy) and the steamed vegetables weren't bad, but not great. The appetizers we received were fun, however! My olives were served in a cute glass with a little umbrella. All in all, not bad, but I expected more for what we paid."

  • "We showed up about a half hour early for our reservation. The place was packed. We were seated within 15 minutes with the hostes giving the impression the whole time it was thier mistake not us showing up early. Wife had the beef wellington which she loved. I had shrimp and sausage 2hich i thought was a different combo i had not seen before. Very good. We will definatley make this a regular stop on our trips to St.Augustine"

  • "I found their menu very accommodating, and had planned to order a modestly priced entree from the menu until the specials were mentioned. We (the two adults) both wound up getting an entree from the specials, and were not quoted the prices with the item. I was a little taken aback when I got the check and I saw the total, which upon review also had 15% already added on for our party of 3. The specials were no doubt an upgrade from what I had originally selected from the menu, but I was never quoted a price with the specials ... something that at this point now seems a bit odd. Overall a pleasant dining experience with a little bit of sticker shock at the end."
