From the hostess to the bartender to the server, everyone was Italian and very committed to the quality of the food and service. I ordered all recommendations by our server, and they were fantastic. The best was that this amazing food was actually affordable. I will go back whenever I can!"

  • "We tried Rafele for the first time and couldn't be happier. We went early on a Saturday evening, so it was not crowded at all. While we say inside, there is a large outdoor eating area on 7th Ave. Tables are spaced well apart, so it is very comfortable, and the room is very nice. Our server was friendly and very helpful. And the food was great! We had some of the appetizer specials (artichoke was very good) and we really enjoyed the pastas (one special pesto dish and the mushroom dish on the menu). Our friend had a fish, which looked great as well. A very pleasant surprise was the chocolate pudding dessert - definitely not something that came out of a box! Prices are also reasonable. We'd definitely go back!"

  • "We spent 4 days in NYC & this was our FAVORITE meal!!!! We ate at the chef's table & let the owner, who attended to our every need, surprise us with the chef's tasting menu...it was FANTASTIC!!! Ambience, food, service, wine could NOT have been better! This was one of our favorite meals ever, ANYWHERE!!!! They are in the top 10 in NYC for 12,000 rated restaurants for a reason!! DO NOT MISS RAFELE!!! They will not disappoint!!!"

  • "What a great restaurant! We dined here on Saturday night. Staff so attentive and friendly, and did not rush us. Even though tables are close together, you do not feel cramped. Every bite of food was superb! Ingredients were so fresh and each of our dishes cooked to perfection. We had the seafood pasta and the linguine bolognese, plus several tomato salads. Tried 3 different desserts and each was better than the next. The cheesecake in particular was outstanding. We will definitely go back again and recommend to friends."

  • "We (my wife, my son, and I) had dinner at Rafele, and it was extremely good. Nice location in Greenwich Village - good outdoor seating. Menu is varied and well done. Appetizer of zucchini flowers was as good as similar dishes we had in Italy. Entrees (gnocchi, pasta Amatriciana, pasta with mushrooms) were extremely well done and fresh. Wine menu is nice. Service good, though not great. An excellent find, and good for the money as well."

  • "Came here after reading positive OT and Yelp reviews. Every dish was well received by the entire table. We started with an appetizer of delicately fried dough with prosciutto and liver pate with honey and ricotta. For our entree, the table ordered the spaghetti with mixed seafood, fresh pasta in mushroom and truffle sauce and the organic chicken. We practically licked our plates clean. By the time dessert rolled around, we were all stuffed but couldn't help but to order their cheesecake slice and chocolate pudding. Will definitely return!"

  • "With a group of 8, the management and staff were very good and knowledgeable re: the menu and the specials. All entrees were very tasty and supported by side dishes. One exception was the broccoli-rabe which was a bit on the salty side as olives and capers were used in preparation and if salt was added, it was too heavy handed. Other than that, the food was excellent. It is a nice spot and friendly."

Also had the Burrata salad, a little different, burrata and quartered tomato, and a very good Melanzana eggplant appetizer, For entrees, zuppa di pesce, a market fish stew with tomato, garlic and Taglioni Ai Funghi pasta with mixed mushrooms and truffle pate."

  • "We visited on a Thursday and had the Chef's Tasting 4 Course Meal. We were asked about any food allergies or dislikes, and beyond that, the meal would be a surprise. First came warm bread with carmelized onion, pepper and eggplant. Delicious. The appetizer course was really 3 different items, served family style to share. Then followed a pasta course, with generous servings of two kinds of fresh homemade pastas and sauces. The main course was swordfish, accompanied by savoury vegetables, beautifully plated. Dessert was cheesecake from chef's family recipe, like no other. All courses were explained by the chef at our table as they arrived. Service was welcoming, friendly & efficient. This was one of the best meals of our lives."

  • "A friend and I were looking for a restaurant before the theater. We happened on this place and sat outside . We shared some delicious rice balls. Then we had chicken Parmesan which was very good. On the way to the bathroom ,I noticed the chef making rice balls. My friend was interested in the process so the chef was gracious and showed her the process. They also had food tours stopping in for tastes. This was a very good place to have brunch at a reasonable price."

  • "I don't usually write restaurant reviews but everything at Rafele's was excellent. From the appetizers through the dessert ( ricotta cheesecake to die for ) the dinner was perfect. Great suggestions on wine and desert from the waitress, a nice chat with Rafele, and the feeling when you left that although not cheap, it was extremely fair and worth every cent. It was one of my best dinners in years. "
