A word from RackHouse Tavern
Our Menu: Rack House has taken our timeless American cuisine to the next level offering a menu comprised of all of our favorites done in house with a rustic smokehouse flair.

The rackhouse (or rickhouse) is where bourbon barrels are stored and aged. With this, Whiskey and Bourban play a major role in many of the dishes and house made sauces. We also take pride in our exploration of local craft beers and regional Whiskey and Bourbans to enhance not only our techniques but your taste buds too.

It was our 1st time at Rackhouse Tavern. We had a wonderful waitress named Danielle. She took very good care of us. It was PENNY WINE night. They have a great looking outside area. We will be bringing friends back.

food was good and ample. Been here before. Service was less than satisfactory. The restaurant was basically empty except for the bar area as we came before the dinner rush. Thought that we therefore would have had better service and a more attentive server. NOT! He was never around and we had to hunt him down several times ourselves. Very disappointing. Don't know if we will return.

A warm and cozy restaurant with good food and drinks at reasonable prices with decent service. Third time for us this Summer with friends (6-8) and will continue to go there about once a month with our group. The burgers are really nice as are a variety of salads.

I never knew this place was here, I saw the specials they have for every night and went Saturday nite for penny wine...great idea, but I loved the moonshine cocktails and for $1 you can get a shot of the Cherri's that are soaked in the moonshine...the food was great, we outside on the patio and is so nice with the music and tvs and light. I'll def be going back there.

Food was great, host was gracious and service was entertaining and nothing but superb. We were there to spend time with a cousin and talk. We did that with no problem on an early Sat afternoon about 5:30. Ribs are good, salads cold and crisp and seafood done simply and fresh. A comment was made about a desert not being authentic and management handled it perfectly. I'll go back.

This is the 3rd time I've been to the Rack House and will go back again. Very good food - I don' t know if I can go there and NOT get the nachos! They're so good! One downside is you always run out of chips. We asked for me and they charged us...which is fine...I just thought it a bit odd. We sat in the outside dining area and loved it. The only thing I would change is the attentiveness of the server. She easily missed out on us ordering another round of drinks, likely another app, and dessert. It was sloooow and we rarely saw her. She was very nice, but I think perhaps a bit spread thin. This would not keep us from going back though!

It was a beautiful night, so we decided to go here so we could eat outside. Big mistake. It was not that crowded out there, but it was more like a bar scene. Music was WAY too loud to have a family conversation. Also lots of small red ants crawling around on the benches which was really upsetting to my 6 year old granddaughter. If I were to go back I would not eat outside again, but if I were going to eat inside then the food was not memorable enough for me to want to return.

  • Mother's Day Brunch

    Dined on 5/11/2014
We were looking for a reasonable priced restaurant for Mother's Day and found it here! While it looked like a place I would love to hang out for dinner, I was skeptical about it as a place for brunch. I have to say we were very pleased with the food. The quality of the food was excellent and the amount they offered was exceptional. They restocked the food often and we rarely had to wait long at any time for more food. There were a few times there was a wait for clean plates, but the wait was not unreasonable. The only concern I had was it took a long time to receive our drinks. There was in extra long wait for the coffee because they were washing more mugs and we had to ask several times for more creamer. Overall it was a great experience!

Meats were had a smokey flavor- the Prime Rib was outstanding other than no well-done pieces. The flavor was unique and tasty- never had hickory smoked roast- beef! The ribs were fatty with lots of sauce. I will come back to try them again. Pulled pork was more chunky than pulled, with not so much smokey flavor. My Bloody Mary had no celery/lime in it- the mix was bad as it was too peppery. The Omelette station was decent, but the cook left a watery center after flipping with the cheese. Also no plates were even on the table in front. An older woman actually walked across the room to hand me a plate! I will come back and give the place another chance, as the menu looked good.

The bacon wrapped cajun shrimp were very good and the brisket was very good. Other than that, the ribs were mediocre, the skirt steak pretty fatty, corn bread dry and collards way over-cooked without much flavor. Nice looking spot and great outdoor area and our waitress was nice so hopefully they will improve food quality. Until then, there are plenty of great BBQ joints in town.

When looking for Northwest suburbs Easter brunch restaurants, I was surprised to see the Rackhouse on the list. My family has enjoyed going there several times for dinner in the past so why not try the brunch? The place was not at all crowded when we arrived for our 1:15p reservation. The brunch choices were fewer than what we're used to but loved their specialty items ie. prime rib, BBQ ribs and BBQ chicken! No salad greens to be found, only roasted vegetables. Good thing we weren't limited to the buffet. My Dad enjoyed his salmon citrus salad and Full moon drink! Our server was very nice, patient and attentive. She apologized and corrected the check when my still 12 y.o. daughter was charged adult price.

This place was a pleasant surprise. Nice decor, a few TV's scattered about to keep an eye on the game. The only real issue was an inexperienced server. She was pleasant and attentive but didn't explain a wine promo that they must have had going on. And she didn't know the types of wine on the wine list. But the food was very good. Ribs were meaty and tasty. Variety of sides I ordered the Sautéed spinach. Good not great- slightly over seasoned. I noticed they had a good beer list also. Will go back.

Booked a reservation for valentines day through this restaurant that's right down the street but never cared to try it. Man was I missing out all the times I drove right by it. They even honored a special request to locate us close to a fireplace prior to our arrival. Food was great. The rack house burger was filling and full of flavor. The beer list was incredible! Including having anti-hero on tap, never found a place besides rack house to have it on tap! It was a nice and relaxing atmosphere with a little southern style in it, which we loved!! Moonshine and country music, doesn't get much better. Service was great, beer was great, food was great, I will definitely be going back!

The ambiance was just so-so. It reminded me of a chain restaurant combined with a sports bar. It may have just been the section where we were seated. The food was good. The cheese curds were delicious as were the fish tacos. We also had the beignets. They were just ok. It doesn't seem like they were cooked enough. All in all, we would try RackHouse again.

We were so thrilled to find a place where the management and staff seemed really glad we were there! Everyone was more than cordial and polite. Not only was the food outstanding, but we also enjoyed great service. The value was more than fair and the portions were very generous. We are both in the "clean plate" club but found it hard to finish the pulled pork entree but it was excellent and we gave it our very best effort! The place is warm, welcoming and we are thrilled that it's in our immediate area. I look forward to summer outdoor dining on the beautiful patio. Thank you Rack House for an exceptional experience.

My husband and I were meeting for dinner on a very cold night. This was a perfect decision. The atmosphere was comfortable and pleasant. The smells from smoked food as you enter made you even more hungry. The hostess and staff were very friendly and efficient. The menu had so many choices. The Asian salad was perfect for me and my husband loved his brisket. Too bad we were not hungry enough to sample the dessert menu. The fried twinkie with a whisky sauce looked interesting!!!!! Would definitely recommend Rackhouse Tavern to family and friends.
