I feel like they use the "view" to trick you into the place. I made reservations well ahead for a window seat and was told when I got there that I should have made a reservation back in July to get one which is fine but when they called to confirm my reservation they should have let me know. Ironically, the people in front of me knew one of the hostesses and without asking got a window seat right away. We get stuck in a non-romantic table crowded next to other guests and lo and behold, the view was not so spectacular from here. Don't count on dining with a view unless you are a rich egotist or you make reservations months in advance. Food was really good, prices were a bit steep. service was super slow, waiter was friendly and helpful.

So this place has to have the most picturesque view of the city. It's on the 37th floor of an office building in Philly so the views are phenomenal. They have window seats and a pretty well stocked bar with Absinthe which is hard to find in PA. The food here wasn't anything to write home about. It wasn't bad, but for some reason the cook recommended that we eat the duck medium rare...which in my experience you don't eat birds with any sort of rareness. Also our appetizer came out cold, which was weird because it was a cooked meat...and the dessert was good, but you can tell they used Hershey kisses as the chocolates. All in all I would say go here for the ambiance and views and drinks.

We have been here several times and the food is always good. The sever was pleasant but failed to offer us coffee until we were almost through with our desserts. We had six people in our party and we were placed at a table that was too wide to seat six comfortably. Overall the evening was a success and we will definitely go back again.

Was warned beforehand that this place was overrated. Small food portions were unspectulator. Two members of our party did not eat their duck entree, something our server failed to notice. The staff rushed about with exaggerated ado yet the place was not crowded for a Friday night. The unsophisticated patrons were constantly running to the window by our table annoyingly snapping pictures, talking loudly, and obstructing our view. All the carpeting was drab and dirty, especially at the entrance. The women's bathroom had such an odor, we could not take more than a step inside as we left. Everyone in our party agreed they would never return. Definitely would never recommend this restaurant, but we saw Hawaiian shirts again on several patrons.

Most people go there for the view but if you live or work in a high-rise with similar views, R2L is nothing special with so-so environment and decoration. Plus you have to make a reservation probably two months in advance to secure a window table. Food is not bad, service is good, but given the price level, it's just average among so many fine restaurants in Philly. I'd prefer some place more special.

A friend and I went here during restaurant week even though I was unaware of it being restaurant week. I thought it began next week, but in actuality it ends next week. The drinks we had off their list were delicious. The lobster mac was not on the RW menu, however, we had to have it and we were not disappointed. I had the duck med rare. I want it again soon. That's how good I thought it was. Our waitress and the manager were very friendly. They were on top of everything and very helpful. Great service, great food and a great view.

The atmosphere and view from my table at R2L was incredible. I requested a window table but wasn't holding my breath. When we were seated I was pleasantly surprised. Our servers were great, too. However, most of the food was nothing to write home about. The pomegranate vodka cocktail I was served at the bar was way too sweet. The appetizer of short rib terrine was hard as a rock, difficult to cut and chew. Same with the rye croutons on that plate. My duck was cooked very well but didn't have much flavor. My boyfriends duo of short rib and prime rib was amazing, but the rest was underwhelming. The chocolate tart was tasty, but bot exceptional. Essentially, go for the breathtaking view, not the food.

Did not get to eat here. Me and my party waited 20 minutes, they seated us only to tell us that they had us confused with another Asian party. We ended up waiting over one hour in total so we left, not wanting to cause a scene. The view was nice but will never visit again.

I had heard that this restaurant had a great view but that it tended to be overpriced. I decided to try it during restaurant week, when they had a menu for $35. I found this to be very worthwhile at that price. The food was delicious, the service was top notch and the view is incredible. I highly recommend R2L, although I may have to wait until restaurant week until I can afford it again.

Wow! Was I disappointed. First, you must leave a credit card to make reservations. That was not a big deal, but it raised my expectations. It was my Hubby's birthday and we showed up 5-10 mins early for 8pm reservations. Let me back up; there was no valet parking, which was disappointing. Once in the building you get checked off downstairs and you take a pretty noisy elevator ride to the 37 floor. You have to check in once more with about 5 ladies waiting to seat you. As I mentioned above, we were early, YET we had to wait 35-40 minutes to be seated! The drinks at the bar were fine - dinner was bad; the bread was good though! I will not be back. I couldn't even see the view, on top of all that! Really overrated, on my humble opinion.

To start off the elevator ride to the restaurant was very quick. When my date and I got to the hostess she escorted us right to our table which had an amazing view of the entire city. From there the server Rodger came over and gave us his recommendations and started us off with some water. After about five minutes Rodger came back and took are order. His recommendation for the lobster Mac & cheese and the hot sea food platter was on point. Rodger also recommended a few cocktails which were out of this world (Old Cuban and The Live Long And). Then came the main course, I order the chicken while my date order the tuna. They were both to die for. Then for dessert we had the vanilla cake which was the best I've ever tasted. A night to remember

The restaurant itself is great but it reeks of smugness. In order to reach the elevator you have to pass the person I call The Gate Keeper, a hostess guarding the elevator on the ground floor. No sign or anything saying to check in with her so don't try to walk past or she will call for you around the corner to try and get your attention. Once you confirm your identity with The Gate Keeper, you are permitted to proceed to the elevator to the 37th floor (or so) and go to the restaurant. Out the doors of the elevator to another hostess you go. I am just wondering why there is a need for two hostesses. Ive already confirmed my reservation with one person, why do I need to do it again? Confirming who I am multiple times makes me feel unwelcome.

Went here for my wife's birthday based on glowing recommendations and R2L somewhat delivered, but failed where it matters most. While we had a very romantic dining experience, the food was good, not great. At these prices, I expected damn near perfection. The lobster mac and cheese was okay-the macaroni was undercooked and stiff. For entrees, I had the pork dish and it was ridiculously salty. Since this was the waiter's recommendation, a word of caution would've been nice. My wife had the filet mignon and it was pretty good but nothing special. The side of french fries were soggy, however, the warm vanilla cake was wonderful. PSA: Book your reservation 1-2 months in advance to ensure a window seat--we did not and paid the price.

This restaurant offers the best view of Philadelphia possible, and food that is world class. We booked R2l in Philadelphia for dinner on Open Table and made note of special occasion-mother's birthday. Service-by Matthew- was outstanding and the dinner was even better. All agreed the food was terrific, and several observed it was the best meal they had ever had out. Of special note was the care and courtesy of the staff with our 83 year old father/father-in-law, who walks with the assistance of a cane. They could not have been more helpful. And we had made a note with the reservation that we would be celebrating a birthday, and the staff went out of their way to make our mother/mother-in-law feel special.

But we could not be upset, because it was phenomenal!! … It was for my birthday and if you go later, you can have the BEST seat in the HOUSE! >> I LOVED the Hostess… Chamarra! I can not begin to adequately describe how fantastic my experience was. My waiter was beyond reproach (I apologize I forget his name) and the chef ( the marine veteran that is well tatted and talented beyond comprehension) were equally fantastic. There are no appropriate adjectives in this or any language to acceptably portray how incredible my experience was. I cannot thank all of you enough for how well my girlfriend and I were treated. If it means anything at all DO NOT LET THE CHEF LEAVE offer him part ownership if it helps but he was the cherry and fondant on top of the cake that was my waiter. But don't expect it from your table. Limited seating at the windows offer the views, otherwise you really must stand up to see the skyline. A small lounge area was crowded but your best bet to take in the view. A rather average menu relative to Philly's outstanding restaurants. Appetizers and dessert were the best. Lobster Mac&Cheese, Stuffed skins and the molten vanilla caramel cake were standouts.
