Diner Reviews
  • "Every course was amazing, steak tartare, lobster Mac, tuna, short ribs. Great food, best views in Philly. My go to spot for special occasions."

  • "Food and service are wonderful. And the view is spectacular. My favorite center city restaurant."

  • "We requested a window seat for 3 people for a 5:30, Tuesday night reservation for a birthday celebration. We were told, not available, however another couple sat down next to us, requested to move to a window booth and were re-seated. When we left, there were still 5 window tables unoccupied. REALLY!!!! Won't be back...."

  • "We had a foreign exchange student who had never been in a tall building, so we went for the scenery. Yet, everything was first rate- the attentive staff, quality food that was creative and fresh, and great view. We had a great time, great satisfying meal and thoroughly enjoyed our stay."

  • "We ate there with a group of 6 on Saturday night for dinner to celebrate my birthday. Total waste of money. The view is nice, drinks were good, but the food all in all was terrible. My husband got the pork variation entree, and it was one of the worst things I've ever tasted. All you could taste was salt, literally. He has never returned an entree in his life before this, and when they brought out another one, it was still awful. I got the tuna loin, which was also ridiculously salty, and our friend got the cod, which was cold and tasteless. Didn't try the other 3 entrees but were told they were all "ok at best". The apps and side dishes were ok, but overall the meal was a huge disappointment. Don't waste your money!"

  • "The amazing view of the city makes this restaurant a special place to be, but the food is what will make you want to return. Not a bite left on our plates!"

  • "My best friend and I went to celebrate her moving to Scotland as a way to say goodbye to her home city of Philadelphia. They food was delicious. It seemed as if each entree we got was better than the last. The service was outstanding as well. Everyone was very friendly."

  • "Philadelphia has a surprisingly refreshing and new restaurant that was told to me by friends who thought that i could impress the woman in my life. R2L restaurant was that place. The view was awesome, the food tasty and the price was right. I would like to recommend place to anyone that likes good food and great dining."

  • "We came here for the view, which was great! But we were surprised by how good the food was. I would say moderate portion size and more expensive than anywhere we would normally go, but it was our anniversary, so we decided to splurge, and we were not let down. Would definitely recommend to anyone willing to spend some extra money on an excellent experience."

  • "we had my sister's 50th bday dinner there and it was excellent"
    Dined on 7/19/2014
  • "It was my brother-in-law and sister-in-laws anniversary and we wanted to take them someplace "special". There you are 37 stories high looking out over the city of Philadelphia being catered to like you were a celebrity by the staff making sure your simplest need was being taken care of. They started us out with complimentary champagne for their anniversary and dessert dishes saying happy anniversary in chocolate at the end of the meal. R2L left my brother-in-law and sister-in-law with an evening they will never forget. If you are searching for excellent food, attentive service, ambience and an unforgetable dining experience then R2L is the place to go."

  • "The most beautiful of the city was well after sunset when all the city lights were on. Food, drink, and service was exceptional."
    Dined on 7/16/2014
  • "The location of the place was a little hard to find since we were dining for the first time. Arriving there, the staff was friendly and inviting. We made a note on the reservation that there was a birthday and we were seated in a window booth with an outstanding view of the city and sunset. Our server, Zach, was very informing, courteous, and made our first experience delightful. It is a higher end restaurant so be prepared to spend some cash, but it is perfect for special occasion."

  • "I made a reservation and still had to wait. The service was ok. But the place was packed and it seemed like they were overwhelmed. The food was good as usual."

  • "What an incredible dinner! Amazing view and one of the best services we have ever had at a restaurant."

  • "Took my lady out for a birthday dinner and it was spectacular. The ambience was perfect, the food was amazing and the view was breathtaking and I didn't even have a window seat yet could still experience the view the restaurant had to offer. The drinks were also mixed very well, not to light but not too strong, yet had the kick I wanted since I was drinking liquor. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to a friend as well as visit again, soon."

  • "I've been to R2L 9 or so times. This was by far the best visit yet. The filet was perfect, service attentive... I highly recommend it... Again."

  • "I always enjoy my time at R2L. Dinner was delicious and our server, Trevor, was excellent."

  • "Spectacular view of the cityscape and the food/service is excellent"

  • "Many restaurants with amazing views can rely on those views, and fall short on either food quality or service quality. Not R2L. They get everything right here. The unmatched panoramic view of the city is equalled by the food and service. Our server was knowledgeable and attentive, but never intrusive, nor absent. The food was superb. Our table enjoyed fresh raw clams, lobster bisque soup, braised short ribs and lobster paella, which was actually deconstructed- serving chunks of delicious lobster and sausage over a creamy risotto. Our group had only one night in Philly (visiting from NYC), and dinner at R2L was the highlight. We will certainly be back, as well as recommend again and again."

  • "The restaurant has a decent menu, and the quality of the food is to be expected for a type of place such as this that is know for it's views of the city. Fortunately there is a dress code which is rarely found today. Men are required to wear a collared shirt. Athletic apparel such and sneakers and sweats are not permitted. The views of the city are not that impressive since the restaurant faces towards West Philly and University City; however it is recommended to have them let you walk into one of their conference/banquet rooms for views of Center City and South Philly."

  • "The only real reason we came here was because everyone said the views were spectacular. I'm from Miami and I can't say the views were bad, but definitely not that incredible, as Philly is a poor city. It was nice to seat by the window (to get a window seat, go during the weekdays), and to have the meal looking out. The food was good, not great. I had the short ribs but they weren't as tender as I had hoped. The dessert was good (it was a vanilla molten cake), and they even gave us tiny additional desserts when we paid, which were yummy. My boyfriend had the tune and he said it was good, but not great. Overall, if you want a place with a "view" you go here (or better, Miami!) but don't have high expectations for the food."

  • "I celebrated my 6 year anniversary here, words would not be enough to describe the experience, waiter was fabulous, appetizers wonderful, wine great, main course, every taste from beginning to end was a memory to my tummy:)) but the greatest of all was the scene looking over Philadelphia, the window seat is a must ! It gave me a greater respect for the city and it's beauty! I cannot wait to return , the prices were not as bad as ppl said and it was all worth it in the end:))))"

  • "It is always a special occasion when we have the good fortune to dine at this restaurant. The view is wonderful and there is always something special on the menu. Service is excellent and management is attentive. My dinner companion and I had different opinions about the food. His dinner was very good while mine was just average but we will definitely return."
    Dined on 6/27/2014
  • "The dessert was amazing, and that's about it. Slow service. And beware, you wear anything they don't like and you're relegated to the bar. Men must wear collared shirts... Hahaha."

  • "Service and food were outstanding. Father is Director of Operations of PJW food group. Was very impressed with my dining experience. Staff was welcoming and very experienced."

  • "While it was not my first time at R2L, it was my first with my love. The ambience was perfect and the views were great considering we got a window seat. Jason our waiter was awesome. Was not the typical atmosphere for my love. He thought it would be stuffy and uptight considering the location but he was very surprised at how laid back and comfortable it was. They even gave a treat with happy anniversary on it. He really enjoyed it. One of our highlights of the year"
