Diner Reviews
  • "This was my first time at R2L and since I had heard the view is to die for it would have been nice to be told that you should make a request to have a table or booth with a view 3 to 4 weeks in advance with that being said the dining experience was one of the best. My complements to the chef and the Wait staff lead by Zack was superior. "

  • "I went with a group of my girlfriends for a special occasion (birthday dinner) and it was our first time. Therefore, we were not familiar with menu the waitress was very nice and explain everything on the menu and even give us free champagne and a birthday dessert which was very nice. The resturant did a great job making our first time memorable even though we could not get a window table they made our night special. "

  • "Our waiter was very patient with our group (6 people). This was our 1st time at R2L and we ALL loved it it! The food, ambiance, and service was EXCELLENT! You have to try the warm vanilla cake for dessert...Delicious."

  • "My girlfriend and I went to R2L to celebrate our anniversary. It was a little difficult to find but that is probably because we aren't that used to the area. When you get off the elevator you are struck with the ambiance right away. You enter into a small hallway which is a little odd but it soon opens up into a beautiful open floor with near panoramic views of the city (I believe you are 37 floors above ground). It is gorgeous and if you lucky enough to be there for a sunset you are in for something special. As for the meal, it was delicious. The server was very attentive and OK with letting us sit awhile to take in the scenes. The price wasn't too prohibitive and even with a couple drinks, an appetizer, and our meals we were below $200."

  • "This was the third and final time I will be eating dinner at R2L- I have had a reservation all 3x but the restaurant made me wait again. I can understand 5-10 mins even 15 on some occasions.... But 45/60 mins is awful. The first time dining at R2L we had an 8pm reservation and didn't sit until 850. 2nd time it was over an hour and the restaurant actually comped all of our drinks at the bar and this past weekend was 50 mins. Great views but for $200 there are a lot better spots in Philly !"

  • "My wife and I celebrated 40 years together last weekend at R2L and couldn't have made a better choice. Great service, food and the ambiance was just spectacular. They have an elevator dedicated just to the restaurant, which is on the 37th floor of Liberty Place Two. No waiting. Our table was ready for us after we had a drink at the bar, to watch the sunset. I'd recommend this restaurant to anyone who just wants to have a special restaurant experience. We sure did! "

  • "We just entertained our Temple student son and his girlfriend the other night. Also in attendance, his two younger siblings. The view was great, but not a cheap night! Food was excellent. Lobster/pasta app was a hit! Not sure kids can appreciate these types of offerings, but for special occasions; pretty cool place! "

  • "My wife and I were looking for someplace special to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary, and I found this restaurant on OpenTable. The food is amazing, the service is excellent, the atmosphere is classy, and the view is amazing. Complimentary champagne! We both had the lobster bisque, we both loved it. I had the ribeye tenderloin and my wife had the braised short ribs, both were melt in your mouth and absolutely delicious! For our sides we had the Lobster Macaroni and Cheese (MUST try, words cannot express how incredible it is!) and the sauteed spinach with crispy onions...very tasty. For dessert we had the Valhrona chocolate souffle for two. Good! They even drizzled "Happy Anniversary" on the plate. A wonderful dining experience!"

  • "that was definitely NOT my momma's mac and cheese! My wife loved this place! I brought her there for her birthday and I must say I was impressed with the impeccable service! they started us with a non prompted champagne toast to the birthday girl. I only requested a small cake. We enjoyed the drink selection--- OLD CUBAN will have you speaking Spanish after two! the menu was nice and diverse in selection of beef, pork, seafood. the ensembles were heavy with taste. we finished with a small desert that was complementary that read Happy birthday! Awesome place and yes WE WILL BE BACK!"

  • "It was a wonderful place, exactly what I hoped! I was looking for a romantic place for dinner for a nice relaxing quiet evening. We had such a wonderful time. Service was great, actually my only complaint was the food was served too fast. It was a Monday and they were not busy so they were able to get it out quickly however we never felt rushed. Although I made reservation on FridY before, they accommodated my special request for a window table which made it extra special although it looks like most tables have a great view. Highly recommend and would go back!"

  • "The view at R2L is absolutely amazing, you are able to see the whole city scape. The restaurant atmosphere was awesome - not uptight, but laid back and stylish. The drinks were delish, especially the margarita. The lobster mac and cheese is a must, the steak salad was perfect, and the dessert is to die for."

  • "It has on of the best views of Downtown Philly there is. But the service, especially the attention to detail, was excellent. Our wait staff was pleasant, knowledgeable, but unobtrusive. And, the food was also also very, very good. A keeper. WE WILL BE BACK!"

  • "I was referred by a close associate to dine at R2L. I was amazed and overall impressed at this center city gem. The ambience and diverse wine selection was what appealed to me most. But the courteous staff & food is what truly what made my special occasion a memorable experience! Thank you R2L"

  • "Thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Service was attentive, the food was good, the view was unparalleled. My party tried the shrimp cocktail (perfectly done, large shrimp; deliciously seasoned; homemade cocktail sauce) the tuna (cooked/seared perfectly), the variations on pork (same same, loved the pork wrapped with the polenta-like filling), the lobster mac and cheese, and the toasted cinnamon dessert. It's a large venue, the views are fantastic, and if I were to be critical of anything it would be these two things--the shrimp came up almost too fast. But a non-factor really for my enjoyment. Also, I think a concrete floor would enhance the ambiance (but probably make it much louder). Leaving, we saw Daniel Stern (chef) at work. Very cool."

  • "The view is great, but the bar was crowded and noisy when I was there on a Friday night. The food sounded very good, but was small and just OK. Nice wine list with a lot of variety, though. Friendly staff, but with some important oversights-- they brought us food without utensils, for example."

  • "I found this restaurant for our 1st anniversary through a search of romantic restaurants with a view. It was better than I could have imagined. We had a beautiful table facing the window and the ambiance was perfect. Server was gracious and very attentive and I could say enough about the food. Everything we had from the soup to the dessert was perfect and timely. The toughest decision about this restaurant would be whether to try something different next time or go with the same meals we ordered this time. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a restaurant for a special occasion or someone that wants an unbeatable view with amazing food!"

  • "Excellent restaurant for a special occasion! View of the city is outstanding! The vibe is upbeat and modern decor! Food was fine but service was just adequate especially with getting additional drinks and wine! Warm vanilla cake was presented with a festive happy birthday message in chocolate! Would go back next time for small plates and drinks at sunset!"

  • "It was my first trip to Philly and I was looking for a nice place to take my girlfriend out to dinner. Once I saw the views on the website I knew that's where I was going to take her. The views were stunning, we got there shortly after sunset so the sky line was absolutely gorgeous. We made reservations and were seated promptly, the staff was very fast and attentive but not overbearing. It is pricey, so definitely not somewhere you would go regularly, but a nice spot for a special occasion. The food was amazing, I got the short ribs and they were so tender and delicious. I was worried at first because I saw on the website that you need to book 2-3 months in advance for a window seat, but there definitely isn't a bad table there."

  • "I met someone for a first date here. Energetic, but not too loud. spectacular view. Dining room classy and quiet. The service was impeccable. The waiter knew just when to approach and when to leave us alone. The food was good. I had root vegetable salad and arctic char. Both were really good, thought the salad had too much dressing. My date had the rib eye combo and he seemed to really like it. We declined dessert, but the waiter brought out complimentary cookies which were FANTASTIC. I would highly recommend this place as a first date (if the date is a promising one). My only complaint is that there were too many patrons who really didn't belong in an elegant, classy place. Also, had to wait too long for the elevator."

I will recommend R2L to everyone."
