Great service & menu. Nice they offered a price fix menu for Fathers Day. Swordfish was ideally prepared.

It is SO difficult to find restaurants serving past 9:30 pm in San Francisco! We were bringing a large party over after a live event at a nearby theatre. Isa coped effortlesssly with our late arrival, served us with efficiency and charm, let us linger despite the late hour, and the food and beverages were excellent. Highly recommended!

Absolutely love Isa. Such an intimate space with an amazing atmosphere. The ribeye and fries were incredible, the lamb was amazing, and the bone marrow was fabulous. But the service is what really stands out — every time we go, it’s consistently so warm, attentive, and welcoming. One of those places that makes the whole dining experience feel special every single visit.

We were there for a wonderful 4 course Mother's Day menu. It was fabulous. Everyone got to choose from one of four items on each course, so we felt like we could have almost anything in the full menu; however, we will come back for a lunch or dinner so we can taste the other items we didn't try. So great to have an affordable French restaurant in Cow Hollow. Don't let the small frontage fool you, there is a big garden room in the back for more people to spread out

The menu seemed very exciting but the execution was disappointing. The supposedly French food is not what we would expect being French. The goat cheese appetizer is dripping in oil and has almost not taste. The sauce that came with the rabbit had so much salt it made it impossible to taste anything else. The profiteroles had no chocolate and the mousse was also disappointing. We will not be back.

We were there during Restaurant week. Their four course prix fixe for $75 was a bargain. I highly recommend the baked goat cheese starter. I had a delicious Lamb shank and my husband was happy with his coq au vin. Very attentive service and a friendly crowd. Nice evening.

Yes for family-friendly seating; accessibility specifics are not listed. Many guests bring family, celebrate birthdays, and host large groups, the back room and enclosed patio are popular for parties and feel spacious. For accessibility (wheelchair access or special seating needs), Isa’s listings don’t specify details, so call ahead and request accommodations when you reserve to ensure the best seating.

Isa offers a cozy front dining room and a lively back courtyard/patio (now enclosed/retractable roof with heat lamps) plus space for private parties. Guests frequently praise the back room for groups and the front room for intimate dinners. The restaurant can host private events, rehearsals, birthdays or celebrations, and accommodates parties up to about 100 guests for special events.

Portions at Isa are generally generous and shareable, guests often trade plates and comment that entrées and Restaurant Week prix-fixe courses feel substantial. Several parties reported hearty seafood and meat portions (branzino, lamb, rack of lamb) and satisfying desserts. A few guests mentioned smaller portions during some special menus or felt some courses were lighter, so if you’re very hungry, consider ordering a side or sharing starters and mains.

Midweek evenings (early Tue–Thu) are often best for a quieter, relaxed meal with attentive service. Weekends, Restaurant Week, holidays and special-event nights are busier and lively, great if you want energy but expect heavier traffic and prix-fixe menus. If you prefer a cozier experience, request a front-room table or an early seating; for groups or a vibrant atmosphere, ask for the back patio or private room.

Warm, bistro-style and welcoming. Guests describe Isa as a cozy, refined neighborhood spot with attentive staff, personal touches from the owner, and a lively but comfortable energy in the back patio. The front room feels intimate and relaxed, great for quiet conversation, while the patio offers a sociable vibe with heat lamps and seasonal music. Overall the tone is friendly, polished, and ideal for special-occasion or casual fine dining.

Yes. Isa is a warm, intimate spot often recommended for date night, guests praise the cozy front room, romantic back courtyard with heat lamps, and consistently excellent French-California cuisine. The menu focuses on seafood and refined classics (sea bass, halibut, lamb, scallops) and the service is frequently described as attentive and personable, which makes evenings feel special. Consider an evening reservation in the front room for a quiet table or the lively patio for a more energetic vibe.

Isa is open evenings: Tue–Thu 5:30 pm–9:30 pm; Fri 5:15 pm–9:45 pm; Sat 5:00 pm–9:45 pm; Sun 5:00 pm–9:00 pm. For special events (Mother’s Day, New Year’s Eve, Restaurant Week) they offer prix-fixe menus and may run extended or special service; reservations are recommended for holidays and weekends.

Smart casual. Guests commonly dress up for date nights and special occasions but the atmosphere remains relaxed and approachable. If you’re celebrating or attending a group event, smart-casual attire fits well with the restaurant’s refined yet unpretentious style.

Busiest: weekends, Restaurant Week, Mother’s Day, New Year’s Eve and other holiday prix-fixe nights when crowds and special menus draw large parties. Quietest: midweek evenings (early Tue–Thu) and slower weeknights, guests often note attentive service and a peaceful dining room on those nights. For quieter dining, book an early weeknight seating; for energy, reserve a weekend or holiday slot.

Yes, Isa is accommodating and often handles special requests. Guests report the owner and servers making personalized touches, preparing requested dishes, and helping with celebrations. For dietary needs, seating preferences, or celebratory arrangements, call ahead when booking to confirm details and ensure the team can accommodate your request.

Families do dine at Isa and guests often celebrate birthdays or come with older children, the restaurant is welcoming and offers shareable plates and a relaxed atmosphere. It’s more of an intimate bistro than a kid-focused spot, so for very young children consider an early seating or the more spacious back room, and call ahead about menu flexibility if you need child-friendly options.

Tuesday–Thursday evenings are often the best choice for a calm, attentive experience and easier reservations. If you want a lively vibe or to enjoy special prix-fixe menus, weekend nights and Restaurant Week are excellent, just expect busier service and book ahead. Choose midweek for a quieter, more intimate meal.

Guests frequently enjoy dining in the back patio for groups or a lively atmosphere; call ahead if you prefer patio seating so the staff can accommodate your preference.
