  • "Best view of Times Square! Delicious cocktails. NY prices Attentive service"

  • "We had reservations here and I am very glad we did because the place was hopping at 11:00 p.m. and deservedly so because the view knocks your socks off. The wait staff goes out of its way to get whatever it is one may want or need. The food is quite good, but it is all about the view. The flashing lights of Times Square are mesmerizing and it is a thousand times better to see that razzle-dazzle with a glass of wine in hand, seated comfortably away from the weather! We definitely are returning here when next in NYC."

  • "The Manager on Duty was very accommodating in seating our group when we arrived 30 minutes late after our 10:30 Open Table reservation. We were seated at the perfect table with a fabulous view of Times Square. While our waiter was not impressive at all, the food and drinks were very good. There are a variety of items on the menu. Anything from small bites to full meals. Drinks were pricey for me, but $16/drink may be the norm for NYC. I ordered the grilled salmon with Israeli couscous and sauteed spinach. It was so good that I was still licking my fingers the day after. Just a very nice place to end an evening after a play. The atmosphere and food are good, but the view is awesome!"

  • "The incredible view of Time Square is what attracted me to eat at R Lounge, a hotel restaurant - something I usually only do on business travel. It turned out, the evening was a wash-out and we could not walk around and enjoy Time Square. The lobby area of the Renaissance just outside the R Lounge turned out to be our resting spot after our first of two shows and before dinner. We were seated right away for an early 5:30 pm pre-theatre reservation - fine as we were able to dine and were not at all rushed. The menu is good, a choice of small plates and entrees. Prices were as expected for NYC. The service was very good. Our server was always nearby when we needed something. We've already told friends about R Lounge and we will return."

  • "We ate at the lounge for a quick bite and ordered fish tacos for 17.00. They were basically two miniscule pieces of cod and a couple of shaved radishes on torillas about 3 inches wide. There were three and in addition to the shells being like rubber they had no taste. Breakfast in the morning were eggs that were runny and probably not even real. The view is fantastic but other than that terrible!"

  • "Cool place for cocktail - overlooking Times Square. Bar bites and full menu too. Went with 2 well behaved children and they loved it and the scene out the floor to ceiling windows. Great place pre or post theater."

  • "Our waitress never checked on us. She took very long to refil drinks and when it was time to pay and we were done eating she took WELL over 20 minutes to bring the check. I do not remember her name all I know it she was a tall Caucasian women with an accent."

  • "The food was decent, the drinks were good, but the view was spectacular! Perfect view of time square great ambiance and great service. I would recommend this restaurant to those visiting the city or those who would like to have a some good appetizers and drinks while enjoying a great view."

  • "Over looking Times Square, wow.. Love dining in the city, and trying different restaurants. This was a great place to eat at before the theatre. Just my wife and I, but next time a few friends will be joining us.."

  • "We needed something to eat and a chance to sit for a bit after spending an hour in line at TKTS in Times Square. So this was a perfect chance to grab a late lunch. The menu has plenty of small plates which was perfect since we would be dining out for dinner as well. We were seated at a table / couch area overlooking Times Square, which was fun. We ordered edamame, fish tacos, and some salmon appetizers. Perfect. Our waitress was helpful and friendly; we will certainly go back."

  • "Great spot before to catch a drink and enjoy the NYC view from the window!"
    Dined on 2/17/2014
  • "I went there with my BFF and I was very surprise about this secret spot ... A lot of ppl been asking me where it located since I took a lot of pics and post on IG/FB ...even ppl from NYC doesn't recognize this secret spot... The view is amazing but the only thing is that it too spend it ... For one drink is $12 Cuban society cocktail and the food is like $16 but it was worth it cuz of the view and the quiet spot that I got close to the window... You should try it and it's perfect for a romantic or to take someone who hasn't never been in the city NYC ... $103 I paid for 4 drinks, flabpizza and mini burgers..."

  • "This was my third time to eat at the R Lounge. Previously, whenever I visited New York, this was a must, but not anymore! We ordered 7 different dishes and they were mediocre at best, plus we tried to order 2 items on the menu, but were told they aren't available anymore even though they were listed. And the service was even worse than the food. The waiter knew nothing about the menu items, so when asked for descriptions, just repeated the name of the menu item. I requested on open table that I have a table overlooking Times Square. We were not seated at a table with a view and were told they were specifically reserved. When people were sat at those tables, they said they did not request the view, so the hostess lied to us."

  • "Ordered pulled pork nachos and they were cold. Staff disinterested. Tried to leave without leaving a tip as service was shocking but got stopped and had to pay. It's an amazing spot to go and sit and look over Times Square but that's about it."

  • "Went to R Lounge with another couple - got great seats, right by the window - awesome to see all of the lights of Times Square giving energy to all of those around. Had some drinks, really good grilled cheese, good calamari, and a lot of laughs. Great service too - they are there when you need, but not a bother when you don't want them around - great instincts. Go for the experience, you will not regret it. Go with fun people and you will never forget it."

  • "I have eaten in this location over many years and many variations of restaurant. The view cannot be beat. Our waitress was fantastic and in retrospect I am sorry I do not remember her name. She was really hospitable and never made us feel rushed. However, it was very pricey for what we had and my glass was die=rty when she served me my drink. Caveat emptor."

  • "This lounge is great for just a relaxing drink or some great appetizers. The view looks right out into the heart of Times Square, which you can really see from any table inside. The place is small, so making a reservation would probably be safest bet, although I went in the afternoon on a Sunday and it was rather empty. The wait staff is very nice and will take lots of pics of you with the view behind and be totally patient while you make sure you get the best one possible (it's a must!). I also highly recommend the Spinach & Artichoke Dip. I will definitely be going back."

  • "We went to the R Lounge for Valentine's Day, and it was a wonderful experience. They sat us at a beautiful table right by the windows with a perfect view of Time's Square. This is truly a hidden gem in New York. The food was pricey for bar food but not outrageous. It was certainly a unique and memorable Valentine's Day!"

  • "The R Lounge has delicious appetizers from pulled pork sliders and mini-lobster rolls, to manchego cheese and honey toast and chicken wings. On occasion, the food seems to get less love from the kitchen than usual, but overall, it's quite good. The best parts are two: * Unmatched location with a cool, weird ambiance, and fantastic, panoramic views of Times Square, especially at night. * It's not well known since it's in a hotel on the second floor and often has seating. A great place for a date, out of town visitors, and feeling like you're a fancy pants New Yorker."

  • "We reserved the R Lounge through Open Table and requested a window view because we were bringing our 6 year old granddaughter to NYC for the first time. We were not disappointed. R Lounge gave us ring side seats on Times Square. The waitress was great, didn't push us on time, took pictures of the group, very attentive, just great. Food was quite good, risotto with shrimp was fine and plentiful, cobb salad was very good, and the little one got sliders for her main meal which turned out great. Prices were not outrageous, actually, they were quite mild by NY standards. And the view is spectacular, for a 6 year old and for grandparents. So all in all, the R Lounge was a hit."

  • "Saw ads for bunch here but they don't have brunch but a decent lunch menu. The seating is odd if you are with a group because some are higher or lower at the table. More like club seating. View is nice and service ok. Our waiter brought meals for four of five and then disappeared until we tracked another waiter down. Would think it would be nice at night for couples for drinks and light food."

  • "We went to Times Square and decided to get out of the hustle and bustle to go sit down, have a drink and a light dinner. The view is fun for Times Square watching, you can only people watch if you have a window table which were all reserved even though we had a reservation...The food is basic nothing particularly memorable, our waitress was lovely and helpful. The only real negative is that with all the noise and flashing lights of Times Square, this restaurant played repetitive thumping techno music and after one drink it got annoying."

  • "My husband and I came here for an early pre-theater dinner because it was the closest place I could find a reservation on short notice. I was pleasantly surprised to find just about the best view of the bright lights of New York City! I am a native New Yorker and don't usually have a need to pay for over-priced, mediocre food in over-priced touristy parts of the city. But the truth is that I will definitely come back here again when I have out-of-town guests. There is no bad seat in terms of the view, and the ambience is sleek and comfortable. Visitors will be dazzled."

  • "Our waiter was great. But the host was brusque and ignored my request for a window table until I made an issue of it. Then he squeezed the two of us in to a space that would have held one, off on the side of the room. The tables in front were empty and remained empty until just before we left. The glasses of wine we had were outrageously expensive ($16 for a GLASS of chardonnay). The food was just fine. What the place is good for is the view of Times Square. But after twenty minutes of watching a thirty-foot tall underwear commercial, we were ready for a change. We went once and will not go back."

  • "After making reservations, I brought my kids and girlfriend to the R Lounge and requested window seating, which they accommodated me on. What an excellent view of Times Square! I would recommend coming back here in a heartbeat - excellent service and decent food choices. Thank you R Lounge!"

  • "Wery nice restaurant! Unfortunatley the table at new years too expensive"
    Dined on 12/28/2013
  • "I would recommend this place strictly b/c of the view/ atmosphere, but for nothing else. The food here is good. This day there was a 'special' New Years Day menu... I had some pre-frozen chicken tenders I'm pretty sure. But this view of Times Square is really priceless. For that reason alone, you should go. The service wasn't bad WHEN WE GOT IT. The place was just severely understaffed, and the servers weren't too terribly friendly. This place could do a WHOLE lot better if they would simply hire more servers. It really is kind of sad-- beautiful place with a beautiful view but with a lack of good management apparently. This same thing with the service happened the last time we were there (and it wasn't a holiday), so this must be the norm."
