R BistroGreat pre-show Anniversary Dinner!Had an early anniversary dinner before a show at the Murat (Old National Center) and it was fabulous! Personal service, great food and reasonably priced wine made for a perfect celebration for 1st timers at R Bistro. It won't be our last!6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMR BistroGreat place! Food was very fresh and service was outstanding. Would be happy to go back next time we are in town6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMIndianapolis treasureOne of the truly shining stars on the Indianapolis food scene, R Bistro never fails to surprise and satisfy. Local seasonal ingredients (which inspire the ever-changing menu) find their way into up-scale comfort food. The service is what one would hope, the courses timed perfectly to allow for an adult dining experience.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMR Bistro is pure gourmetThis quiet, modest restaurant has been a family favorite since it opened. The chef and team prepare a new menu each week and incorporate seasonally available fruits and vegetables that provide for an infinite variety of tastes and treats. They grow their own herbs and the wines are good. I recently had a small bottle of a sparkling white Italian Prosecco that was perfect for my entree of lentil carrot soup and barbequed shrimp over grits. The sauce had bacon in it and was smoky and rich, not overly spicy or hot. My husband chose a duck entree that was succulent and tender, not all dried out as is too often the case. This food is cooked with love as well as expert attention to the details. R Bistro never disappoints!6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMWe have dined many times atWe have dined many times at R Bistro and find the food and service consistently outstanding. The food is always fresh with beautiful flavor combinations and presentation. The service is friendly, accommodating, and never intrusive. R Bistro is one of our favorites.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways ExcellentTook a group of 7. Food was excellent as always. Among us we had 4 of the 5 starters, all 5 entrees, and 2 of the 5 desserts on offer. I don't recommend getting the chocolate truffles at the end--it's just candy from next door. Buy it next door. But the rest of the food was genuinely excellent as always. The chef was very publicly behind the bar from time to time.
I know R Bistro makes "slow food", but the service pace was slightly too slow. Still, the waiter was a genuine pro and this was no big problem. Fairly priced wine list.
My three favorite restaurants in Indy are Recess, R Bistro, and Brugge. You won't ever go wrong eating at R Bistro.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat menu!Excellent menu even for vegetarians! The menu changes but always has something for every taste. We love this restaurant! It has a cozy feel and we have never had a bad plate after 4 years of dining here.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMIncredibleR Bistro is an amazing restaurant that takes great care and concern for the food they prepare and the customers they serve. My wife and I recently celebrated our 10th anniversary at R Bistro and they made it a night to remember...excellent service, mind-blowing food, high quality local products, beautiful presentation, everything I could have hoped for and more! Honestly, they did not miss a beat. I would passionately suggest that people make the trip to this gem on Mass Ave!6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMRemains top-notchI hadn't been to R Bistro for almost six years, since moving from Indianapolis. It was my favorite restaurant when I lived there, but I feared it might not have maintained its standard of excellence that I so appreciated. It has! The food is exquisite, the service is top-notch. I'm back in Indianapolis and I couldn't be more delighted that R Bistro is still among the finest dining options in the city.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMWOW !!In a city that raves about the STEAK - Everywhere - The short ribs over pasta was AMAZING !! We loved everything !
A MUST visit for us !!6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMFantasticR Bistro was one of the best dining experiences I've had in the last 10 years. So good!6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect Foodie RestaurantThe menu changes every week. I have now eaten there three weeks in a row. The appetizers are great. The entrees are always interesting. This is a real foodie type place. virtually guaranteed to be eating something you have never eaten before.
Don't go expecting standard fare. I have yet to see a steak on their menu.
The only letdown was dessert. Changing dessert menus every week is a tough thing to do. Of the three desserts I had, I would only rate one as excellent.
The only real rub with this restaurant is lack of choice. Since the menu changes every week, the number of dishes available is pretty small. It is a really good idea to check the menu online to see if you are going to find something you will like.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a fave for visiting friendsI make it to R Bistro from time to time. I also recommend it to those visiting Indy. I'm a huge fan of supporting small business and local foods--this place is both. I've also been happy with the wine list.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother great meal and fabulousAnother great meal and fabulous service at R Bistro--our favorite Indy spot!!!5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMHighly RecommendVery small (only 17 tables) local spot. My wife and I had a late lunch...peas and spinach soup, shared a Waldorf salad and rabbit tacos. And then a delicious desert. Well prepared and fresh, and reasonably priced. Nice ambiance and excellent service. Overall, highly recommend.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is a great location andThis is a great location and atmosphere for business lunches as well. We did have the issue with being informed that parties of 6 or more must have one tab. This was a bit surprising. I definitely understand adding the gratuity to the bill, but this should still be possible with split bills. With being business conscious and many business such as ours being unable to accept payment for lunch or other “incentives” we must have split bills. This also falls into being conscious of the perceived image of corporations not on the take. I would like to recommend your business for more business lunches, but this one area gives me some concern. The manager was able to work it out for us which we greatly appreciated. The food was good as well.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMConfirmation from a visitor to IndyMy wife and I brought the executive director of a Boston-based cultural charity to dinner, believing that Regina Mehallick's restaurant is about as good as it gets. After an evening every bit as successful as we anticipated, our guest paused before we departed to make reservations for the following night. He was in Indianapolis for a national conference, and had already decided that he wanted three other conferees to experience R Bistro. Hooray! Randy Shepard5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMSpecial NightMy wife has wanted to go here for months, so we came as a Mother's Day dinner. We were not disappointed. While the menu is somewhat limited, there is enough choice for anyone, unless you want a hamburger or hot dog. The food was well prepared and very fresh with good sauces. The wine list complements the food well and the desert choices are sufficient. The reputation of the restaurant is well deserved. With a changing menu you can never be sure what to expect, but an excellent dinner.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, sane portionsAlways a delight to go to R Bistro to experience an ever-changing menu, wondering what new favorite might be found. The service is never forced and always accommodating. I wish we could afford to eat there weekly, but for special occasions, the cost is well-justified and understandable given the outstanding quality of food and service.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMWe have been to R Bistro manyWe have been to R Bistro many times. Great presentation and our server was so accommodating. I've eaten lunch and dinner here and would highly recommend this restaurant. There were eight of us at the table. We all had samplings of three desserts.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMWorth the trip!Topped off a successful trip to the city. Certainly lived up to its billing.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was excellent andThe food was excellent and beyond our expectations in regard to quality and taste. Our server, Dori, is an asset to the organization.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst visit to R Bistro inFirst visit to R Bistro in a few years and I was reminded of the great menu and scrumptious food! A relatively quite venue, the great service and food allowed me to have a terrific first date with the wonderful lady that I was with. Thank you R Bistro!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent meal at a restaurantExcellent meal at a restaurant that believes in sustainable, local gourmet food. The change in the menu gives variety. Dora gives great service.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMAs a local favorite, we broughtAs a local favorite, we brought out of town friends with high expectations. Our group began with the exceptional cauliflower soup. Delicate and flavorful. We followed with the fish stew and the lamb burger with a light cucumber-mint sauce accompanied by luscious spring jicama salad and roasted pineapple slices. Magnificent flavor combinations. Capped off our repast by sharing the polenta and chocolate ice cream and the panna cotta with strawberries. Neither was too sweet. A meal and evening to remember.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was, as always, fresh,The food was, as always, fresh, tasty and first class.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMLove the place. ExcellentLove the place. Excellent value but more important, the food was creative and excellent flavor. Of course the menu changes weekly so a dinner should check ahead to see if the “theme” is something they want to sample. The wine list is small but appropriate. I am from Chicago and entertain and eat out five or six evenings a week all over the country so I feel I have a good comparison. The place was intimate, easy to get to and the overall experience was excellent.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was outstanding. ThisFood was outstanding. This time we enjoyed a St. Patrick's Day special menu, perfectly prepared and served. We drive 1 1/2 hours to eat here a few times a year.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of R Bistro's most attractiveOne of R Bistro's most attractive features is its imaginative and frequently-changing menu.
I have visited numerous times, and although not everything I have ordered over the years has been completely to my taste, I have always looked forward to its imaginative and frequently quite delicious experiments. I live out of town and there are too many restaurants in Indianapolis to make repeat visits to more than a handful, but this is one I keep coming back to.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful placeRBistro is a little off the downtown beaten track, but better for it. It is at the end Massachusetts Ave., and a real favorite of locals who love the changing, locally sourced always good and surprising menu, the superb, unobtrusive, service, and the quiet, pleasant ambience that nurtures good conversation. A great place to go with friends or colleagues for fabulous food and a satisfying evening out.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the best lunches I'veOne of the best lunches I've had in years. I travel extensively - Chicago -NY and this restaurant is one of the best I've visited. Have the bacon pannini.3/12/2013 12:00:00 AMR Bistro's Unique OfferingsThe highlight is the meal offering. The menu changes weekly; and, the listing of ingredients are all noted as being from local or IN locations. R Bistro is worth trying--you'll leave wanting to come back to try future offerings...2/14/2013 12:00:00 AMamateur foodieFrom the time we walked in and were seated, to when we left, everything was perfect. Cliff was charming and attentive, and full of great recommendations. Our food came in a timely manner, in a beautiful presentation. Everything we had was a work of art. I will be going back there again soon.1/1/0001 4:00:00 PM
