Best Restaurants in Oakland
Reasonably-priced and really good
food. Great atmosphere."

Unfortunately when I arrived in
the restaurant they didn't have my reservation. Luckily they have table available."

I picked Quinn's Lighthouse in
Oakland as the place to celebrate my mother-in-laws and sister-in-laws birthdays as neither of them wnated to shoulder the responsibility. I live in Ventura in Southern California and they both live in Oakland. First off, Open Table is my go to when making reservations. The app has never let me down and I use it all the time. Quinn's was perfect for the shared event. A great selection of entree's, everyone in the group of twelve found something they liked and no two ordered the same. The food tasted great, the prices were reasonable and the veiw of the marina at sunset was worthwhile."
Dined on 7/5/2014
Wonderful experience, great food,
an all around great birthday dinner for my wife AND our almost 8 y/o nephew! Shannon you were the bomb!!"
Dined on 7/3/2014
Love Quinn's. Good food. Usually
try to eat on bar deck, but it can be cold to there. Great views. Service spotty, but not awful. Love the Eureka salad and pastas."
Dined on 6/30/2014
to know there's a charming
restaurant nearby with a welcoming staff (especially Sung and James!) and always, always a variety of fresh seafood prepared tastefully and presented beautifully! We know we will be satisfied every time! We've considered visiting other seafood restaurants but then decide "why bother?""
Dined on 6/20/2014
Can't beat the view. Nice and
quiet weekday lunch. Great beer list, not so great wine by the glass list. Everyone enjoyed their lunches. I have some considerations. I asked about the Altlantic Salmon, was told it was wild caught in the Pacific. This is not true. All Atlantic salmon is farm raised and we avoid that. Because I didn't want controversy in our lunch, I ordered it anyway, but checked later. Would have preferred a different fish, wild caught, preferably with hook and line in the Pacific, but no go. Wine list was limited for glasses, not cheap and the wine choices weren't very good. Our out of town visitors loved the food, beer and view. 2nd time here with them."

We went to Quinn's for Father's
Day and had a wonderful experience. Our server was very knowledgeable and attentive. The ambiance was nice and there was a beautiful view of the Bay. We will definitely dine here again."
Dined on 6/15/2014
Been looking forward to eating
here for years. 6:30 pm on a Saturday we sat upstairs on patio. Found servers overworked and could not get to us often. 2 guys were running around like crazy trying to keep up. Fish and chips were oiled and only warm by the time they got to us after 20 minutes and colder after tarter sauce arrived. The Seafood Newburg, $23, was an expensive pile of overlooked mush with overcooked, flavorless, seafood. Never going back!"
Dined on 6/14/2014
Had reservations downstairs, but
chose to sit in the upstairs open seating, outside because inside was full, to enjoy the Thursday night pirate band. They had no problems squeezing us back in downstairs a half-hour later when we realized it was getting quite cold outside. As always, excellent service and food!"
Dined on 6/12/2014
We went to celebrate a birthday
and we had great time and service as always above and beyond is why we keep returning..food prepared so all dishes were great.."
Dined on 6/2/2014
Whenever I considering leaving my
hometown with its own fine set of "foodies" for somewhere else, I always consider Quinn's. Just a nice, quiet easy location and offers up either casual or semi-formal dining. The food is always very good and at a modest price. I had one of the DooDa Plates this time and just loved it. The added bonus this time was the outstanding service. James was absolutely outstanding and he made the evening extra special for me and my date."
Dined on 5/31/2014
Great buckets of shellfish! Nice
view over the water and nice for a quiet evening. Great menu with something for everyone. "
Dined on 5/24/2014
Food was quite bland. Server was
awesome and the location and room are great. Food needs a major modernization. Clientele appeared older and the menu seems to have come from the 1950s. The bar is cool and the people are great."
Dined on 5/11/2014
I took my Mom here for Mother's
Day brunch. The food was just alright; Mom seemed to enjoy her prawn dinner, but I had fried calamari and it had no seasoning and wasn't that hot when it arrived at our table. Our server was polite, but once the food was served, never asked if we were ok or needed anything else. As a matter of fact, he never returned until he delivered the check. We were seated next to a window, but the flies almost ran us away. I will not be going there again."
Dined on 5/11/2014
It is tucked away in a corner of
the earth that makes it as hidden as it is known. It is the perfect spot for a getaway without getting away and enjoying a view. I recommend a window seat. You will love it. Once you get settled in, get ready to eat. The food is outstanding. It makes for an all around perfect evening."
Dined on 5/6/2014
Had lunch, chowder, a cup & a
bowl. Glass of wine and bread $27.00. Went back for dinner. Lobster lasagna was good. Dont order surf and turf unless you like a dinky overpriced steak. Service is fair. Its close to where we were staying. Not much else near there to eat. The chowders were good. My daughter had a pasta dish for dinner it was good."
Dined on 5/3/2014
The Santa Barbara Whitefish is
delicious, as is most all of their menu. The clams are one of my favourites. Portions are large so make sure you go hungry. The bar upstairs is quaint and the view is not bad from the deck. I have been going to Quinn's Lighthouse since I was in my late teens and it is still a great place to go. The lunch time service can improve, but i guess it does depend on who is waiting on the tables. "
Dined on 4/30/2014
First time here our waitress was
great! We chose to sit outside on the deck overlooking the water great view perfect weather on Easter Sunday. We started with drinks these were great a nice size margarita the kind you would make yourself at home ( great value) we had the crab cakes 2 large with small salad, 1/2 bucket clams and mussels great tasting broth soft and crunchy on the outside bread served with our cup of clam chowder. Dinner choice was the jambalaya we really enjoyed it we split the plate it was a generous portion with garlic bread. We really enjoyed this spot. "
Dined on 4/20/2014
I felt the restaurant was a nice
place with a good view. The food was good. The service was good the waiter kept up with every thing which was nice."
Dined on 4/19/2014
Waitress was friendly and
accommodating. We had 3 generations and everyone was happy and enjoyed the meal and the company. The service was excellent."
Dined on 4/19/2014
This is a solid brunch or lunch
spot if you want to enjoy the view of the marina. The food was good but not exceptional. It was very quiet when my party lunched there over the weekend. Looks like a great spot for drinks and happy hour gatherings."
Dined on 4/19/2014
This was my first time at this
restaurant. My lunch was delicious, and our waiter was fantastic. It was so nice looking out at the boats on the water, and the four of us could actually carry on a conversation without yelling. I would definitely go back there."
Dined on 4/15/2014
Had a late-ish mid-week dinner
here 2 months ago & was impressed by food quality (all 3 courses were very satisfying), portion size, and service. Returned for a Monday night dinner recently & was disappointed by smaller portions & less well-prepared food (comparing apples to apples, as I'm comparing the same menu items as in the previous dining experience). Also, the wine list of wines by the glass appears to have been down-graded. Perhaps these are needed cost-cutting measures; I'm just saying, this patron and her dining companions noticed. "
Dined on 4/14/2014
It is a small but warm and
inviting restaurant with a historic location. Extensive menu,"
Dined on 4/5/2014
We loved it. Not only the
wonderful atmosphere but the food was out of this world. We have already told all of our friends it's a must see! We'll be back."
Dined on 4/5/2014
Service was fantastic. Very large
menu with plenty of choices. It was a birthday party and the cake was to die for."
Dined on 3/29/2014
The Chicken Alfredo ($18.00) was
not near worth the price. It didn't have a much of a taste at all. Looking back I would have chosen the ($13.00) Pasta Alfredo in a hearbeat. The dining experience was overall okay."
Dined on 3/23/2014
I have been coming to Quinns for a
long time and have generally received good service and good food. This time was different. After waiting for10 minutes for someone to pay attention to us, we finally hailed someone who happened to be the guy who brought bread around. He seemed confused who to call and finally a waiter came to acknowledge us and get our drink orders. The bread guy then came around to drop off bread - now why didn't he do this in one of the 3 times he passed by our table? Somehow the food this time is not how I remembered it, the jambalaya had too much tomato sauce and the fish in the cioppino was overcooked."
Dined on 3/21/2014
Been coming for a number of years.
Invariably the food has been excellent with an adequately mixed menu plus some quirky dishes( doohdah). Service is excellent and the beer list includes black porter beer. Not pushy to order nor to leave!. Only drawback is an occasional party which increases the noise level- but this has been only once for us over many visits. nice for 2-6 persons."
Dined on 3/14/2014
Food and Service delicious. Our
Waiter was very knowledgeable. Reasonable prices and great ambience."
Dined on 3/10/2014
Like Quinn's for lots of reasons:
location; burger; clams. I took a chance & went with the mahi- mahi special. Big mistake. It was smothered in this sauce that pretended to be bernaise. Why is it necessary to cover up a great fish with some goupy offering that overwhelms the senses? With fish I think less is more: tread lightly & stay out of the way. I'll go back, but will stick with the fish & chips"
Dined on 3/7/2014
we've come here ten times in the
last few years. Always excellent food and service. But today the things we ordered were just okay. The caeser salad with salmon came with the romaine leaves not separated at all. Turned out to be very dry and very awkward to eat with the salmon balanced precariously over the uncut romaine. would not order this ever again. And my spouse had the roast beef Panini. Not so great. again, all the other food we've ordered has been wonderful - the Doo Dah dishes are excellent and the mussels. Also, the menu's just were reprinted and there seems to be a smaller selection of items. Hopefully that is all that has changed with this great restaurant."
Dined on 3/6/2014
I reserved our table for 12:30 but
we ran late. The host was very understanding and since the lunch crowd was thinning, he seated us at a lovely table by the window. Two of us ordered soup, lobster and crab chowder which was excelent. Plenty of seaford pieces. The guest of honor ordered a salad that was extra large. I ordered the fish and chips-the fish was fresh (2 pieces) and the slaw was good and crisp. The other dining guest ordered the lasagna and she was happy with the choice. We also ordered desert, I ordered the cherry topped cheesecake which was very good and my two dining companions enjoyed a warm piece of bread pudding. All and all we enjoyed both the food and scenic view!"
Dined on 2/28/2014
Had a very nice lunch with a
friend here and it was really good. The place is casual, but the service was very quick and friendly."
Dined on 2/27/2014
The food was good and better than
I expected. The views are excellent, the Alameda Estuary and the Oakland Marina on three of four sides. The serving staff was only okay. The server was not very positive nor particularly friendly. Of course, it could have been an off day. The support staff for the server was very good and almost made up for the server's lack of professionalism. Go for the view!"

Fantastic Price, Excellent Service
and Bill and staff were awesome. Fantastic Views. Noise level perfect"
Dined on 2/16/2014
Quinn's is a great local
establishment that has never disappointed. Atmosphere, good food and the most friendly staff of any restaurant around. We always leave hoping we can come back soon."
Dined on 2/14/2014
We really hoped this would turn
out better than it did. It is a very attractive restaurant, and the staff were friendly, professional and helpful. We started with the tomato topped with shrimp, vinaigrette and pesto. This was good, uninspired but good. We both had tuna with ravioli and scallops. This was a special on Valentine's day so we thought it would be good. We were sadly disappointed with our entrees. The tuna was over cooked for us and everything was smothered in a curry ginger sauce that was light on ginger and heavy on curry. The scallops, ravioli and asparagus were quite good, but the tuna was not to our liking. We'll try this restaurant again before writing it off completely, but..."
