Quince RestaurantAlmost perfectWe arrived early for drinks at the bar. A relaxing, quiet start to the evening. Our table was ready a few minutes late - the restaurant was packed and we were one of the late reservations. As we perused the menu, some "snacks" were served. These pre-dinner courses were better than most meals served elsewhere.
We chose the 9-course tasing menu with wine pairings. It included items we would never have ordered, and all were terrific. The wine pairings are very good, too. Most of the dishes were exceptional. Only a couple were merely far above average.
Only compliments to the restaurant. The food is amazing and the service is equally good. The space is beautful; quiet enough to have a conversation, yet loud enough to not hear others.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AM50th wedding anniversaryWe celebrated my parents 50th wedding anniversary at Quince and it was everything we hoped for and more. My father says it was the best meal he has ever had and the service was terrific. The only downside was that there was a large party seated next to us that was quite noisy and my mother had trouble hearing our conversation. The noise aside, the meal was fantastic and my parents truly enjoyed the experience!6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMWent here with my parentsWent here with my parents to cap their trip to the Bay area. It was a fantastic meal with fantastic service!6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMQuince RestaurantThis restaurant is superb, with imaginative & delicious food. The service is impeccable & solicitous. The wines, which were chosen for each course, were perfect for the dishes we selected. The "foodies" I was with were bowled over. VERY expensive, but a once in a lifetime experience. The decor is elegant in every way.6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful Experience !thank you for a wonderful experience; food, service, ambience ....6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst impression: the decorFirst impression: the decor was a lot stuffier than I had anticipated. Looked like a locale for power-business-diners or grandma paying for graduation dinner. Maybe it was the borderline gaudy chandeliers or the dark wood? Anyway, the food and service completely made me forget my initial reaction. I had the tasting menu with wine pairing, which I would highly recommend since the pairing is totally worth the added cost. There were more glasses of wine than actual courses I think, and each was a great counterpart to the tasting menu. My favorite courses involved pastas so I hope to visit Cotogna in the future as well; the ricotta gnocchi were so light and satisfying, and garganelli with rabbit was rich and delicious.6/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Night of DiningMy wife and I go to nice restaurants for each other's birthdays and I would have to say that Quince was probably the nicest one we've ever gone to. From the ambience to the attentiveness of the staff to the food, which was exquisite to say the least, we thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience there. Only one drawback. We happened to be seated by a large table of very noisy patrons. But fortunately they were just about finishing up their meal and we only had to tolerate them for the first part of the evening. Clearly nouveau riche types. Otherwise, it was a great night. We loved the subdued elegance and the low romantic lighting. We look forward to coming back one day but, in the meantime, will speak glowingly of the restaurant to others.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMBeautiful room with gorgeousBeautiful room with gorgeous flowers. staff was friendly, professional, and accommodating. started off with complimentary champagne, and several amuse. We had the four course menu, which was more than ample.. Food was beautifully presented and delicious. We loved the rolls and butter. Only disappointment was the dulcey ganache. Anticipated a chocolate based dessert, but it turned out to be more dulce de leche. Should have asked. Our sweet tooth was sated by the tray of sweets we received at the end of the meal
My daughter loved seeing the kitchen. since we were celebrating her professional accomplishments, she was presented with a personalized menu.
Plenty of on street parking available at 5:30 on a Sauturday evening.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved this experienceThe restaurant was beautiful and the service was lovely with out being too fussy.
Lots of treats and surprises made it a wonderful special occasion restaurant.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMA Truly Special PlaceThe food is fabulous, the service impeccable and the atmosphere elegant. We have dined in the best restaruants in Paris, Quince is the best ever.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMIt's All GoodExcellent food, well-sourced and expertly prepared, presented as works of art by a knowledgeable, friendly, capable staff. We had the nine course chef's tasting menu. Each item was superbly prepared and deliciously complex. The wine pairings were spot on, and provided us with the opportunity to step out of the typical cabernet/chardonnay doldrums to experience a variety of different varietals from all over the world. The sommelier was well-informed, and enthusiastically presented each wine to us with comments about its pedigree and characteristics. We had an absolutely tremendous experience at this fine establishment and recommend it without any qualification or hesitation.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMA magic eveningIt is rare that everything works. It did at Quince, it was a magic evening, the food was phenomenal and the service too. Couldn't be better.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMSpecial birthdayPleasant low key approach by staff to help us enjoy my wife's birtday5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMWay above averageThis was an exceptional experience. Costly, yes. The total bill w/taxes and a proper gratuity was above $300 - we were not disappointed. Way beyond our typical evening out, but worth every penny. Service was exceptional, never interrupting our conversations yet constantly taking care of the smallest detail. Portions seem small but the entire 4 course adds up to a complete meal.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMFine Dining at its bestQuince is just a lovely night out. The pacing of the courses is relaxed. The wait staff is attentive and knowledgeable and the foudn is interesting and delicious.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMABOVE AND BEYOND!I wish I could give Quince 6+ stars on all levels. We were blown away with our experience!
We came in to celebrate our 2 year anniversary while we were in SF, we also had just found out that we were pregnant. I had made the reservation stating it was our anniversary (I also must say we are both Chef's as well). We were sat in what had to be one of the best tables in the whole house. Our primary server, Joe, and busser were AMAZING! The kitchen asked if we would like them to cook for us rather then order one of the menus. OF CORSE! My husband decided to d a pairing with the meal. EVERY dish blew our minds, they were flavorful without being too heavy or fatty. CUCUMBER ASH?!? wonderful
We will be back every time we are in SF5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMvery goodThe food was quite good, but not as good as the first time we went. The suckling pig was fantastic, but I didn't like the desert much (a kind of caramel ganche); I think I just didn't quite understand what it was I was getting as my favorite desserts are not super sweet nor super buttery. My wife opted for the cheese cart, and was not disappointed. She also enjoyed her cocktail and the wine she had with dinner.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMdisappointingservice was perfect, restaurant is lovely, but the food, especially entrees and dessert, foam and all, were decidedly pedestrian.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMBrilliant! From the gracious greeting as we walked in, to the fact that our coats were waiting for us (without prompting) as we reluctantly left, Quince did everything perfectly. Too say the food and service were both outstanding doesn't really cover the exceptional levels of each. We chose to have the four course dinner off the menu rather than the nine course tasting menu. When we asked if there could be a wine pairing (not listed on the menu), our server said "of course". Since the four of us pretty much ordered different dishes for each course, the wines were paired for each dish and we must have had in excess of a dozen or more different wines! Expensive? Yep. Worth every penny? You betcha! Can't wait to return (maybe the bar on my own - soon).5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstandingA really wonderful restaurant. The food was excellent, high end cuisine with some fun and imaginative dishes. The service was smooth friendly and professional and the ambience was lovely with contemporary clever design and great noise baffling so you could talk easily. A really great experience. We will be back5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMWowFrom the moment we walked in, we knew we were in for a treat. Gorgeous decor. And the service and attention was the best we've had in quite some time. The food was wonderful - many new tastes and experiences for us - this restaurant is not for those who enjoy just good food but for those who enjoy equisite dining (such as at Michelin rated restaurants). Extensive wine menu too.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything was great, althoughEverything was great, although we weren't all that impressed by the salmon crudo, which I was expecting to have a bit more flavor. Was still good just not amazing.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMA Satisfying experienceThe food was quite good, the portions small but at the end of the night they have added up to a substantial meal. The server was quite accommodating for our dietary and time restrictions. A comfortable dining area.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMQuince ReviewThe service was outstanding from beginning to finish. The food was amazing! Must try!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food service was rushed .Our pre dinner drinks came out during the second course. Lots of waiters but poor service. We were asked if we wanted additional bread which never came. Too bad... we expected a 5 star and got a 3 to 4 star experience at best. Poorly managed on Mother's Day this year despite lots of staff. Never again.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMExquisite food, elegant setting! With a lovely, quiet dining room and some of the best food I've had in San Francisco, this is definitely a place for that special treat dinner! Service was smooth, efficient, pleasant and professional. The prix fix four course menu has 3-4 choices in each category and was simply delectable! Sometimes in fine dining restaurants, the hors d'oeuvres and appetizers outshine the main courses for creativity and flavor. Not so here. My tai snapper with a tangle of crab and its sour apricot and lemon verbena overtones was exquisite. Plus the wonderful selection of amuses to start. Portions are small so that you can fully appreciate each course even up to the dessert. This was a memorable meal in so many ways and I look forward to returning.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMEarly Mother's DayVisited for an early Mother's Day dinner. Everything was wonderful. From being greeted at the door with a Happy Mother's Day to the always fantastic food, it was definitely a memorable occasion.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous night. CelebratedFabulous night. Celebrated our anniversary and having notified them in advance of the occasion, we were treated to a very special evening which included a souvenir menu titled with our names and mention of the occasion. Food was fabulous and the service was superior. We were very well attended to. The wine pairing was a very special experience with a wonderful sommelier that gave special attention to each course. Loved it and would go back in a minute.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMA Little "Stuffy"The food at Quince is outstanding - no question about that. However, the atmosphere is a bit like being served by robots - not much interaction with guests - hardly any emotion shown at any time resulting in a "gray" atmosphere (every server the same, regardless of job).5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place but you'll leave hungryFor a great place to eat with an interesting wine list and fabulous service, try Quince. You will spend a bunch and won't eat a lot but you'll leave happy. It's what I would say is an experience restaurant. You have to do it and say you've been there - just know where the local pizza place so you can sate your appetite.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMQuince was just way too formal.Quince was just way too formal. Although the food was very. Good, it was not fun. All servers looked the same
; same outfits, hairdos, etc. way too stuffy. Everyone walked around like they were robots.
No one who worked there looked like they were enjoying their time. Plus, one of the entrees
Had an $18 supplement because it had Dungeness crab in it but there were about 4 slivers of the crab
In the dish? It was insulting. Although the food and ambiance were very good, I don't think I would
Go back.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMEvery aspect was exceptionalEvery aspect was exceptional ! You get what you pay for.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat service and quality, but...Food quality and the service are fantastic/top notch, However, the portion size is incredibly small, even for a fine dining establishment. Suckling pig entree is 2 very thin silver dollar-sized chops. This is not comparable to any other fine dining restaurant we have been to. We did not leave hungry, but for the money, the portion sizes were disappointing5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the best meals of my life.Amazing food presented by an equally amazing server in Quang.
I have dinned all over the world, at many famous restaurants. This experience will be one of the best for the rest of my life!5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMImpeccable ServiceFantastic service, Incredible food! The tasting menu was a foodie's dream.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMTasty, butExcellent food that is.beautifully prepared. Overall, the restaurant is overly formal and stuffy. It is not a fun restaurant. It is a serious restaurant with no interaction between the guests and ownership. It will be many years before we would return.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMAn absolutely divine mealAn absolutely divine meal from start to finish. Everything about the food was incredible. The ambiance was just a touch uptight for San Francisco, but that's apparently the energy they are going for. It wasn't distracting or detrimental, just noticeable. Service was very attentive and perfectly choreographed. Our primary server, for lack of a better title was just a bit awkward, seemed a little uncomfortable engaging with us on a level outside of the server rhetoric he had been "programmed" with. Very knowledgeable and kind but a little robotic.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMQuinceFabulous food,, unlike anywhere in SF.
New restaurant is sophisticated while remaining comfortable.
The service was attentive and friendly.
Expensive, but worth it, especially for a special occasion.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our first time atThis was our first time at Quince and we were very impressed. The service was first class and the food wonderful. We will return.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMSolid Restaurant/ Very properDefinitely what you expect from a very fine dining establishment. Similar to Gary Danko and Michael Minna. So nice that it is a little stuffy and proper so if you are looking for more casual go to Cotogna their sister restaurant. Also two prix fix menus $90/pp and $140/pp so be prepared for that.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMThe best I've had in San Fran. The best I've had in San Fran. Better than La Folie, Gary Danko and Fifth Floor.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMSublimeSublime. I have eaten at Quince for as ling as they have been around.
One if the top ten resturants in the US, along with French Laundry, and others.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was stellar, andThe food was stellar, and the service was truly exceptional - a unique combination of flawlessly professional and laid back in a California way.4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMwonderful meal and very accommodatiwonderful meal and very accommodating to our dietary restrictions. a lot of money but we both felt like we got our money's worth. friendly, knowledgeable service. good ambiance and they nicely acknowledged our special occasion.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMexceptional food for a not-so-outlaexceptional food for a not-so-outlandish price (although the website indicates that they will be increasing to 6 and 9 courses for $118 and up). But for $95, the service was impeccable. The courses were ample and delicious. Garganelle pasta with duck was rich and unctuous. The Gnocchi ricotta on black truffle reduction was tasty. The suckling pig, cote de boeuf and John Dory main courses were all beautifully presented and delicious. Even their homemade cocktails were fun and flavorful.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMDining at Quince was a veryDining at Quince was a very positive experience overall. There is some street parking available, and the offer valet parking. The resturant decor and ambience are pleasing. Service there was excellent in every way. My wife and I opted for the 4-course tasting menu. They also have a 9-(I believe)course tasting menu. The prices were reasonable. Though both tasting menus weren't chock full of items high on my personal list of favortes, the menu was creative, and the food was expertly prepared and presented. The suckling pig was outstanding! We did not opt for the wine pairing, but that is offered on both menus. If planning on being in the area, and looking for somewhere to dine, I would not hesitate to return. I'll try the larger tasting menu4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMIt is obvious that the chefIt is obvious that the chef took great care with every bite of food. We appreciated the little "treats" that came throughout the meal in addition to the ordered fare. The service was exceptional and well organized - definitely worth the price and then some.
Hats off to the entire staff for a thoroughly wonderful experience - we felt pampered and full by the end of dinner.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMReally enjoyed our experience.Really enjoyed our experience. Our meal and service impeccable. We go there every year for our anniversary and we shall continue to do so.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely dinner with the QuinceLovely dinner with the Quince stamp of delicious interesting dishes and impeccable service3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing ExperienceBeautiful 4 course meal! We were celebrating our anniversary and the hostess and every waiter wished us happy anniversary. They even had personalized menus wishing us happy anniversary. Service was incredible. Food was to die for. My husband is an extremely talented fine-dining chef. We were both blown away by the creativity and quality of the food. It's pricy but worth it for a special evening! Our bill was $500 for 2 four course meals with $90 in extra charges for the lobster, crab risotto and duck. We each had 2 glasses of nice wine.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AM
