Diner Reviews
  • "That's awful food and awful service. Our waitress disappeared right after she took our order. One of our diners wasn't brought his food while another one received a portion of his. I ordered a side of rice and beans and they tasted like I was on a cruise ship. If they would only add a few more servers and other staff and change their chef, they may quickly move up the ranks to mediocre. (My apologies for knocking cruise ship food as it isn't this bad)."

  • "excellent Mexican food, the guitar player was a little loud so we sat upstairs. Service was superb"

  • "My husband and I had a wonderful dinner while enjoying live music and tasty cocktails. We were even treated to a free appetizer and dessert to share! Our food came to our table super fast and the staff was extremely attentive. We will definitely go back for dinner again soon. The area is great for shopping before or after dinner as well!"

  • "The free appetizer and dessert cannot make up for the low-quality food. The shrimp ceviche had apple in it, and was bland. The tequila shrimp were cooked too much and did not have much of a taste to them, either. My Mole Chicken left a lot to be desired. The server also forgot our sodas. He took the order ONLY for the appetizers in the beginning, and then only after could we order the main courses. That has happened to me once before, and in that restaurant, too, the food was bad. I would NEVER go back there. It was one of the WORST Mexican restaurants I have ever been to."

  • ""I love the relaxed feel of this place – like a comfortable dining room in a friends home. I definitely would return to try more dishes. T"

  • "I took my friend to Quetzalcoat for her Birthday dinner, her 1st time there. I had been there a few times before. She was very impressed with this scenic restaurant, nicely decorated, live guitar player and the delicious food. The staff is very nice and they bring over a complimentary appetizer and complimentary dessert. We ordered the Enchilada Suizas with Shrimp and another with chicken, which were delicious. I definitely recommend this upscale Mexican restaurant...a little more expensive than some Mexican restaurants, but the whole experience is well worth it!"

  • "The food is always delicious and presented with great care -- the salads in other restaurants appear to be an afterthought. Quetz does if as carefully as the main dish, with veggie variety and cut fine, crisp and fresh--so important for healthy eating. The musical performance addition is wonderful--can be seen and heard from the balcony while still maintaining some privacy Guy is a gem, as are the attendants. When I go out, I usually end up at Quetzalcoatl--and I'm never disappointed. Quite the contrary--I always leave with a bigger smile than when I entered! "

  • "My boyfriend and I felt like Mexican food so we stumbled across Quetzalcotl and we were pleasnlty surprised . The guacamole and salsa was amazing as appetizers I could eat that all day . The entrees were alright but nothing out of this world. We did receive a free appetizer and dessert on the house . The only thing we didn't like was that our food came out so fast right on top of each other we didn't even have room to fit all the plates on our table. The servers were friendly and great at answer all out questions. But the meal was just very rushed."

  • "Food was great and prices reasonable. The service was friendly and attentive. There was a bit of a long wait to be seated even though we had a reservation, but other than that we were very impressed. Will definitely be going back."

  • "Went her for a birthday dinner on a Sunday with my husband and children. Wasn't crowed so we were seated right away. The food is very authentic mexican with the exception of it being pretty mild. It was delicious and the portions were a good size with out being too big or small and the staff was extremely attentive. They even gave us a small plate of nachos and flan complimentary. Would definitely go back again. Perfect if you are craving Mexican lunch or dinner."

  • "We had a 7:15 reservation and when we arrived on time we were told that there were no tables available because they were very busy. There was a list of people who had reservations that were still waiting from 6:30. We asked if we should wait at the bar because we were told that it would be at least 30 minutes. We were then told the bar was too crowded and to leave and come back in half an hour. We left and did not return"

  • "We have been going to Quetzalcoatl for a number of years. It is a great place for families and large groups. The owner and wait staff quickly remember you and welcome you each time you arrive. There is always a comped appetizer or dessert (or both.) The menu has enough variety beyond the usual Mexican choices although they are also excellent. We'll worn the trip."

  • "Drove to eat at this place as was wanting some Mexican food this was one of the biggest disappointments as far as restaurants are concerned in a very long time and we eat out about two to three times a week do yourself a favor and skip this one as they forgot to put the flavor."

  • "Very, very good Mexican food - not Tex-Mex or Americanized. Very, very hospitable service, with free appetizers and dessert. Fresh, tasty, and not your ordinary cheese and taco joint. Good prices, pretty decor - will be back!"

  • "First time at Quetzalcoatl. I had the chicken fajita which was good. The complimentary chips and salsa, a small appetizer and a small desert after the meal is a nice touch! The margarita's are very good. If you will be having more than one margarita go with a half or full pitcher, this is a better value. Over was very happy with the service and food I would return."

  • "We are 2 couples that love to find new restaurants and we all loved this one. Everyone's food was delicious and plentiful and the wait staff couldn't have been more attentive. Everything we ordered was delivered to our table correct and hot. The wine we ordered was good also."

  • "Came in with a large group. The service was quick and responsive. After buying several pitchers of margaritas they bought us complimentary shots!"

  • "I'm not a fan of Mexican food but the staff here makes me want to have Mexican food again. I couldn't believe how attentive the staff was to our group. When we arrived we were seated immediately. I would say about 4 different workers in the restaurant would check up on us to see if we needed anything. The guitar player that came around to sing was very friendly. It felt like the staff was family by the time we left. The menu had a free large selection compared to other Mexican restaurants where I have eaten."

  • "We love Quetzalcoatl! It is one of our first choices when getting together with friends and family. The service is always great - extremely friendly and fun, and the food is delicious - you can choose from a menu that includes your typical Mexican dishes to more exotic Oaxacan specialties, like dishes made with mole (pronounced mo-lay) sauce. I should also mention their great margaritas and other bar delights! Always a great time!"

  • "First of all made reservation and didn't need one.... The place is small And the staff is good but don't let you relax..... Food was awful I got the shrimp dish they say was terrific - it was too saucy. Sorry but not going back"

  • "Good food. Authentic Mexican. Service was ok. The staff was very polite and friendly, however, we had to wave them over a few times to order drinks that took a while to come. The restaurant did make up for it though with complementary appetizer and dessert. We didn't even complain! Would definitely return and recommend."

  • "We made reservation and a half an hour later they seated us along with all others on line. The first is the watered down salsa was spilled on the table as it was brought out. No attempt to clean or apologize. The waitress asks "what do you want"? Then walks away. Plates were brought to table we didn't order. The food was mediocre. We had to ask for hot sauce and sour cream. I was rather embarrassed that we invited friends. I go to green cactus or pacho villas any time before I'd ever consider going back"

  • "My girlfriend and I were visiting friends in the area on a Saturday night, so we decided to check out Quetzacoatl for dinner. The first impression we had was the main dining room was very well designed and you felt like you were in Mexico. Atmosphere= 10 Food= 10 Service= BIg ZERO!! Probably the worst service ever. We waited 20-30 minutes for water and for someone to take our order. On top of that, the waitress didn't seem interested in helping us. Instead of greeting us we were asked "what do you want?" The food runners gave us plates with guacamole on the bottom of them, and spilled drinks. Only until we asked for a check is when the waitress was interested in helping us. If service was better, I'd return, very unlikely I'll come back"

  • "I had been dying to try this place for awhile so we went on weekday nite. 3 kids 4 adults. They have basic kids menu. Dinner menu had a variety of Mexican items. Soups were very good. Carne asana delicious. Taco n fajitas just ok. Mexican beer was great served in ice cold mug. Our waitress was non enthusiastic & low toned when speaking. However she did take care of us when order was wrong. The owner came to say hello & gave us some free desserts which were very good. Overall our food was ok. Not sure if we'll be going back but maybe we just hit it on an off nite or should've ordered something else."

  • "The service last night was impeccable. I was reluctant to return as last time we waited, asked for items and left feeling blue. Last evening, the waitress, bus men and entertainment were exemplary. Big improvement and we are grateful. They give you salsa/chips to start and a complimentary deep fried cinnamon crispas at the end."
