A word from Quatrefoil
Chefs Fraser Macfarlane and Georgina Mitropoulos opened Quatrefoil Restaurant in May, 2010. Since then, the restaurant has been named among the top 10 best new Canadian restaurants of 2010 by enRoute Magazine, and among the top 10 best new restaurants of 2011 in Toronto by Toronto Life magazine. Quatrefoil Restaurant is also featured as a prime dining destination in the 2011 edition of Where to Eat in Canada. Located in the quaint community of Dundas, Ontario, the restaurant offers contemporary French cuisine in a charming heritage home turned modern eatery. Macfarlane and Mitropoulos, a husband-and-wife team, met in the kitchen of Toronto's Scaramouche Restaurant, before heading to Europe to seek out new food styles and experiences. Together, the pair has cooked in some of the best Michelin-starred restaurants in Europe, training under notable chefs such as Marco Pierre White, Gordon Ramsay and Gary Hollihead.Continued

  • "I've been to this restaurant for lunch a couple of times and very much enjoyed it. I suggested this restaurant for a friend's birthday dinner and we went in a group of 4. We all loved the food- fresh, tasty, beautifully presented! The service was excellent yet discrete, not intrusive. The portions appropriate (not huge, as in some restaurants). The birthday person was presented with a special dessert in a nice, quiet manner. Everything was nice and elegant. I would go back any time!"

  • "We have been to Quatrefoil on various other occasions and it never disappoints. Fine dining that justifies the price. Compares very favourably to other local fine dining. Service is always attentive without being obsequious. Chef is happy to accommodate food sensitivities. (I am lactose intolerant.) Very good wine list with reasonable mark up. You are asked if it is a special occasion on the way in, and if so, it is recognized. In my case this was by way of a complementary digestif. I would recommend this for when you want a special dining experience."

  • "Turning 60 is a big milestone, so my son and I went to Quatrefoil. Everything was excellent except....the main dish I ordered, cornish hen. It was very bland with not enough sauce! The accompaniements were great, however. Wine list excellent!"

  • "Wow! This has been at least my fifth time dining at Quatrefoil. I have been there for dinners and for lunches. This most recent outing I took my neighbour to the prefixed lunch. AMAZING! She was so impressed she couldn't believe it - the staff - the beautiful but relaxing decor and the food was the best she's ever had! I can't recommend Quatrefoil enough to all my friends, family and business associates! It's always a perfect experience! Thanks so much for existing! I hope Quatrefoil is around for a very long time!"

  • "Went out for lunch for a special birthday with a group of 4. Tab was just shy of $200 dollars, but everything from complementary breads to dessert was excellent (not outstanding). Outstanding would find more sides to accompany my rainbow trout, although the trout was cooked to perfection. Server was attentive, atmosphere was quiet and inviting. Definitely worthy of a repeat visit for the next special occasion."

I had heard about this restaurant for many years and having travelled to Toronto to dine or locally in Burlington for special occasions, decided to try Quatrefoil for our anniversary dinner. We were not disappointed. The locatation and ambiance was very good and the food was as I had heard. While the menu was impressive, we ordered from the Prix Fixe menu and were very satisfied. We felt the price/quality ratio was excellent and will return in the summer for another visit."

And one thing that I really like about Quatrefoil is that while the protein always tends to be what we all focus on, the accompaniments in all Quatrefoil dishes are so elevated and flavourful that they take the perfectly prepared protein to another level."

  • "Visiting our daughter from the UK last November we planned to take her to dinner on her 21st birthday. Researching on the internet I found Quatrefoil, was impressed by the webpage and customer comments and made an online booking. What a find it turned out to be! This would be a first class restaurant in any country. We have just been back (February 2014) and are again very impressed. The menus are excellent, the food delicious, the wine carefully chosen. The waiting staff are both efficient and unobtrusive, which we like a lot - they are knowledgable about the menu items, offer thoughtful wine choices and altogether make you feel relaxed and looked after. We wish Quatrefoil was near us in England. Lucky Dundas!"

  • "2nd time I have a meal there... first was a business lunch, this was a pre-Valentine's dinner. The dinner portions are generous... we were stuffed at the end. Wine list is good, but both wine and liquor are extremely overpriced. Ambiance is cozy... the restaurant is a heritage property in the heart of Dundas and seats about 40 people. That said, the decor is immaculate. Definitely will go again on a special occasion, and would love to see a BYOB option with reasonable corkage."

The restaurant is fancy but not too up tight, and the service was wonderful. our server was kind and timely, and they brought us delicious fresh bread with garlic butter and special chef specials before we left. We both ordered fish and it was absolutely amazing. Thankyou for a great time :) we will defineitely return for another special dinner ! Quatrefoil is definitely a neighborhood gem!"

We were looking to take good friends of ours out for a thank you dinner and the four of us enjoy trying new places. Lovely setting in Old Dundas, remarkable renovation to an old house. Have visited several times from when first opened to last week and every time we've visited, the meals, staff, and dining experience in general has been top notch. Also would recommend Quatrefoil because menu includes locally and/or sustainably sourced items.   • "The wine list was ample with a nice variety. For appetizers, we tried the scallops and foie gras torchon. For mains, we tried the fish special consisting of sea bass as well as the pickerel. We finished with the poached pear. Everything was delicious. Well-plated. Nothing was wrong (although my pickerel's sushi risotto was a touch on the saltier side) but my particular concern was that the dishes weren't particularly outstanding. Most of the dishes lacked playfulness of flavour, experimentation or innovation I like to see. I liked it. I enjoyed my time well. The service was outstanding and the ambience was lovely. The restaurant was busy. I would come back but would like to see more from cuisine in the future. Must try at least once."

  • "We went to Quattrefoil on my 40th birthday. It was a wonderful evening. We sat upstairs, as there was a function downstairs, which was a new experience for me. It has a quiet and more traditional feel to it, compared to the white glam feel of the downstairs. I liked it very much. I had the steak, which was excellent. Service was also excellent. A lovely night to ring in a new decade!"

  • "From the website, it looked like good food, good wine, and had some impressive accolades to boot. The house rules noted "smart casual", which was great as I was taking my date out for dinner on a Thursday night, but not necessarily a special occasion. He was happy to be able to wear jeans, dress shirt and blazer. We had a fantastic time. The staff members were personable, professional, and knowledgeable. The food was amazing. He had smoked salmon and beef tenderloin; I had scallops and then the salmon. The scallops were out of this world. All fish was sustainably sourced, and the salmon was organic. We shared a bottle of local red. We were both too full for dessert. All-in with tip was ~$250. Looking forward to going back."
