A word from Quartino
Quartino, an urban Italian restaurant and wine bar, is the creation of Hugo Ralli, Steve Lombardo (owners of Gibsons Bar & Steakhouse, Hugo’s Frog Bar & Fish House, LUXBAR) and Exec Chef / Partner John Coletta. Quartino combines the best of Italy’s osteria and enoteca to offer an authentic everyday Italian food and wine experience. “Where wine is cheaper than water” Throughout Europe, in bistro after osteria after enoteca, fresh local wines of high quality and unique characteristics are priced as a less expensive alternative to bottled water. Reservation requests for patio seating are not accepted. Patio seating is first come, first serve. Continued

  • "This place is great for any occasion - birthdays, friends in town, dates, work dinners, etc. Get the cheese fondue!"

  • "We visit Chicago once a year, and always return to Quartino for a late night dinner. The location is great, the food wonderfully prepared, and the service attentive , knowledgeable and friendly. And all for a great price - what's not to like about that. Sit outside or in the porch if you can - the sound level inside can be elevated at times."

  • "We had a big group for a bachelorette party. Our table wasn't quite ready when we arrived, so the manager brought us up to the bar, where we got free bottles of wine while we waited for our table! After about 5 minutes, our table was ready. We had amazing service, a really fun server, and delicious food. To end our fabulous meal, the server brought the bachelorette a special dessert (I don't want to be too graphic, but it involved a banana and some ice cream balls) that made everyone at the party laugh and take pictures. We had a great time, and we are looking forward to our next visit!"

  • "I was taken here by a friend of mine who lived in Chicago years ago but had forgotten the name. When our wait at the purple pig was 2 1/2 hours I got on open table and got a reservation at Quartino 30 min later for the 4 in my party. We are all foodies and live great wine as well. We were NOT disappointed. We found a great wine for $21!!! Yes, I swear (and we love great and often expensive wine)! I still haven't been to the purple pig but our dinner couldn't have been better anywhere else. Will definitely go back every time I'm in Chicago!"

  • "I am always more and more impressed when we eat at Quartino. The food is by far the best Italian fare we have had across the country. The service is incredible and it all around never disappoints."

  • "My wife & I came in for an early anniversary celebration and had a great time. The food was good as was the service. My only complaint would be how loud it was. The restaurant was completely full, with many group tables celebrating different occasions and this made it tough to have a conversation at times. I still recommend this restaurant, the location is prime, but just be prepared for a lot of background noise during peak hours, especially on a Saturday."

  • "The food is really great but the accoustics are horrible. You must shout to talk to the people at your table, but, of course, everybody else in the restaurant must shout too so the noise increases. I only go here when someone else insists because I cannot enjoy my time with friends when I cannot have a nice conversation without shouting."

  • "This restaurant was recommended by a author of several books related to food. When I made the reservation I was told we could have outdoor seating. Upon arrival that was not the case. With a reservation you are guaranteed a table, outdoors however is on a first come basis. The noise level inside was so loud, my party of 3 could not hear a word of conversation we tried to have. Off the charts loud!"

  • "Great vibe, loved Italian in small plates where you are able to try a lot of things. Service was fantastic. If you are looking for a quiet romatic atmosphere, go elsewhere. It's quite noisy and crowded. Our family loved it."

  • "Great experience, fun staff and good food. It is tapas style dining that, in my opinion, serves itself for larger groups; 4-6 would be good."

  • "The food was delicious and the waitstaff was knowledgeable and available (there when we needed them, not when we didn't). We had our choice of seating inside or outside which is always nice. My client and I left with the feeling of 'we should definitely go there more often'! I know from experience Quartino is an excellent place for private parties as well. We held a client lunch there this summer in their upstairs party room and the food was terrific; the room was quiet/away from the bustle of the other patrons --it was easy for a party of 20 to hear each other well enough at one long table."

  • "Our group of four had 9:30pm reservations for dinner, thinking we would have no problem sitting outside. All of the outdoor seats were taken so we sat inside. It was rather loud considering maybe half the room was filled. Our server was cheery and attentive. This is a great place to share plates. We started with calamari which was decent, then we shared two pizzas (Quattro Stagioni and Margherita) and two pastas (Penne alla Vodka and Rigatoni). The pizzas were delicious as were the pastas. Our meal was great, but next time we will wait for an outside table as the ambiance is a little nicer."

  • "The food at Quartino is always absolutely wonderful. We have been there many times before and love to go for the food, atmosphere, and service. This time, the service was not up to its normal standard, but still great service all the same."

  • "We've been here several times. We're repeat customers for a reason - outstanding food (love the small plates - it's a great way to share a few different dishes with your dining companions), excellent service, and a great atmosphere. Save room for dessert here - they're fantastic!"

  • "This is not an Italian-American restaurant. Dishes are true Italian and tapas style (small and medium plates), great to share a variety of dishes with a group. Wine list is extensive, but affordable."

  • "Plenty of choices. Pizza was great!!! The mussels were amazing!!"

  • "This is obviously a very popular restaurant. I wouldn't even attempt trying to get a table on the weekend without a reservation. The dining room is open with attractive decor but it is very, very loud. Our group of 4 had a difficult time having any conversation though we managed to have a good time. This is a small plate restaurant where you order food as you go; items ordered do no arrive at the same time or necessarily in the order you requested them. The food was good but not outstanding. It was a good option after a long day at Wrigley Field. We weren't looking for a traditional sit down meal so this worked for us; however, it wasn't the type of meal to bring us back again."

  • "Excellent food and amazing service!! We walked by 4 times while I was staying there and it was always busy which is why I chose it and was not disappointed."

  • "My husband had been here before so he wanted me to go too. We had a late reservation that we ended up changing to even later. They were accomodating. The food was good but I probably was eating later than what is best for me and I don't think I appreciated it. Good pizza and pasta. Vibrant late night scene - not really at the bar, but throughout the restaurant"

  • "This was our 3rd visit here with a group in town for a trade show and every visit has exceeded expectations...love this place for groups...8 in ours this time. Everyone ordered their favorites...eggplant parmigiana, calamari, pancetta wrapped dates, pizza, gnocchi, porcini & truffle risotto, shrimp risotto, you name it... there was something for everyone and it was all perfectly prepared. Our favorite thing here is how the food just keeps flowing from kitchen to table as it is ready. The atmosphere is a little loud but it's great fun. Don't skip dessert! The Coppa al Banana and Zeppole are amazing."

  • "Food is great but if you go during a crowded time (weekend evenings) don't expect to see your server a lot. Ours showed up and didn't even introduce himself - just asked what we wanted. Also very loud won weekend evenings - which is fun but if you want to talk, this can be difficult."

  • "I've been to Quartino at least 5times and enjoyed it, but this latest time is my last. Worst complaint is the COLD food that was obviously mass made and sitting under a plate warmer for 30min. Seriously cold, what should have been hot or at least warm dishes. It was crazy busy this night and our food came within 5min of ordering so it was obviously all premade and just sitting there, I pictured something akin to a mcdonalds burger warmer. It's fine if you are ok with that concept, if you want something fresh look elsewhere. $12 for cold premade pasta was disappointing."

  • "This was our 2nd time to visit Quartino. We had great service and the food was very good, but the noise level is extremely bothersome. There were four of us, and we had to strain to hear each others conversation. Pretty much had to shout out anything we said! The table for four was small, extremely small for all the small plates, pizza, etc. we shared. By the time we got our drinks on the table, we were really confined. I think it would be very helpful to increase table size and to buffer the noise level with some type of sound absorbing fabric, etc. As I said, our food and service was great...just don't expect a lot of conversation time."

  • "We had a party of four. Three of us ordered Minestrone to start our meal, while another went with salad. No sooner had I put my spoon in my soup, my entree appeared--BUT ONLY MY ENTREE. They piece-meal the delivery as the orders come up through the kitchen...so by the time everyone else's main course arrived...my dinner was cold...because out of courtesy, I wait until EVERYONE is served. Bizarre! And it just added to a feeling that we were being rushed. Felt like I was in a sprint, as opposed to having a nice relaxing dinner. By the time it was time for dessert, we couldn't wait to get out and walk down to EATALY, where we could dine in a much more relaxed pace. And this is all too bad, because the food was good."

  • "Simple, fresh ingredients and great service in a rustic setting was great for our night out. A little noisier than I would have liked and the table layout could be a bit more spaced out. Otherwise it was very enjoyable. Great wine list!"

  • "Went here for dinner on our first visit to Chicago on a recommendation. Nice wine list and excellent pasta dishes. We sat inside but in the patio area. It was very nice, service was excellent. Would go again."

  • "The food was of good quality but portions are very small- to me Italian food should follow the "mangiare" rule. When we were seated or rather shoehorned in we were informed by the waiter that the portions were smaller and they served the food 'family style'. This is contradictory to me because family style has large portions that the family shares and also when the servers bring out the food they asked who it belongs to. I could not even rate for ambience as I would not label it as energetic- just noisy. It was raining when we arrived, so we missed out on the possible ambiance outdoors. I would only return if outdoor seating was available and if I were approaching the meals as a quality appetizer."

  • "We loved Quartino! It was one of our top dining experiences while visiting Chicago. The help was friendly and efficient, and gave us hints on what to order. My dining partner ordered a pepperoni pizza which I do not usually like, and it was outstanding and delicious! The tagliatelle alla Bolognese was better than what I found on trips to Italy. Loved the goats milk ricotta, again outstanding. Also, the Baby Octopus and the wonderful beef short ribs.....I could go on and on, and cannot wait to go back to this quality restaurant/wine bar!"

  • "My friend and I went to Chicago for a girls weekend and picked Quartino as a recommendation from a friend. We loved the house made Grapefruitcello and Lemoncello, and we shared 3 of the entree sized portions between the two of us. The staff was on top of things, and were there for any questions we had about the menu!"

  • "I take people here all the time. The food and service are always wonderful. The prices are good, the wine list awesome, and I love sitting outside when the weather is good. I've never had anything but a great experience at Quartino. Make sure to get the octopus!"

  • "I've never had a poor experience at Quartino. It has a sizable wine list and a variety of dishes to try. Also, in my Open Table reservation, I noted it was my friend's birthday. I forgot I wrote that, but our server brought dessert and limoncello for us, on the house, as well as brought a special wine glass for my friend. Overall, great service and good food. I highly recommend it (but be sure to make a reservation or you could be waiting a while for a table!)."

  • "Trevor was an excellent server. He was very busy but always made a point to check in with our table. The room was extremely loud - that would be the only downfall of the restaurant. However, we were in a tiny dining room near the restroom. Overall amazing food and service!"

  • "Our party of 6 enjoyed the food. Portions are small and ideal for sharing. Quality very good. Service was very attentive and extremely helpful. The killer was the noise. We were in a room on the second floor with many other large parties screaming. Conversation was impossible. To the management's credit we were offered complimentary limoncello liqueurs at the end acknowkledging the intolerable volume."
