A word from Quartino
Quartino, an urban Italian restaurant and wine bar, is the creation of Hugo Ralli, Steve Lombardo (owners of Gibsons Bar & Steakhouse, Hugo’s Frog Bar & Fish House, LUXBAR) and Exec Chef / Partner John Coletta. Quartino combines the best of Italy’s osteria and enoteca to offer an authentic everyday Italian food and wine experience. “Where wine is cheaper than water” Throughout Europe, in bistro after osteria after enoteca, fresh local wines of high quality and unique characteristics are priced as a less expensive alternative to bottled water. Reservation requests for patio seating are not accepted. Patio seating is first come, first serve. Continued

  • "Went there with some of my friends and I really like the setting of the restaurant. It reminded me of some old-fashioned Italian restaurant back in the 70's. The food was amazing, we ordered 10 plates total for 5 people. The size was good enough not to get you stuffed, yet full. We also ordered two bottles of wine, the price was moderate with good quality. The waiter who served us that night was friendly and helpful, since it was my first time ever to a Italian tapas place; he was helping me with some dinning choice. Besides him, other people who brought the food over were nice and polite as well. I really have nothing to complain about this restaurant. Try the chocolate fondue for dessert, it is so good!"

  • "Excellent service, delicious we'll prepared food and unique sharing concept. Lively atmosphere to the point of making conversation a bit difficult so not good for a romantic evening. "

  • "Food was awesome. Great atmosphere. Only complaint is I made the reservation with a note that it was my daughters 21st irthday, I also called to confirm that they knew about it. They never acknowledged the special occasion kind of a bummer"

  • "We recently converged on the city to meet up with family travelling from the west coast and were delighted with our experience at Quartino. It's a friendly, unpretentious restaurant with genuinely tasty food that appeals to all ages and palettes, including foodies. Wasn't my first time there and it won't be my last."

  • "I've been to Quartino's before and liked the food, so I made a reservation. We went this past Saturday. The place was off the charts hopping by 6:30. The problem was that there were a number of very very loud groups around us, to the point that you could not hear anything even from the person sitting next to you. I like loud and energetic restaurants, but this was really too much. Quartino's needs to get sound tiles for the ceiling and do something to muffle or dull the noise. Especially when the table of middle aged people right next to us start screaming -literally- with ear splitting shrieks. That aside, the service was great, and the food was really good. I will go back, just not on a Saturday....."

  • "Had a business drinks and dinner on Friday evening @ 18:30 dinner reservation. The restaurant was quite full. The bar proper was full but there were a few empty tables so seating was easy. Food was good but I had feeling the chef(s) try to be cutting edge but basically all they do is over-season the food. It was good but my salmon was definitely over-seasoned. Still ate it but it could have been better. Appetizers are probably their best offerings. I do not recommend Quartino for business. it was really noisy so important details in a conversation might be missed. For social it is a great place. Very urban Chicago. Yes - I would come again for social and appetizers and drinks."

  • "We ordered one of their thin crust pizzas and thought it was very good. The chocolate fondue was quite good too."

  • "This was our second dinner at Quartino and it was as fantastic as the first - although we had a less cramped table on the enclosed patio the first time. The small plates are prepared well with fresh ingredients and enough for 2-3 to share. The staff is attentive and knowledgable. The ambiance is lively so a nice place to come with the kids. Will definitely return."

  • "The atmosphere at Quartino was fun and festive, but the noise level was deafening and it was very difficult carrying on a conversation. The food was excellent and the service attentive, if not always prompt. Apparently, the menu items are to be shared, but I'm not sure there is enough on each plate to provide a taste for more than 3 or 4 diners. Overall, however, I give the restaurant a thumbs up."

  • "I love being able to rely on Quartino to always deliver a great experience-- including both spectacular service and food--when I am looking for a place to entertain. This was no exception and our server did an excellent job tending to our group of 10. I look forward to continuing dining regularly at Quartino."

  • "Great place! Food was great, very fun and a lot of energy. Be prepared to yell to have a conversation on the weekend, but it was a lot of fun. Place is huge with a nice bar and a fireplace and private rooms upstairs. Would definitely go there again."

  • "Quartino has great food in a sort of tapa size Italian way. Super pizzas, great ravoli. The wine is OK but nothing special. At the same time the noise level is overwhelming. You cannot have a conversation with someone during dinner. The sound design of this restaurant is terrible. Even with the great food, I will not return."

  • "Can't say enough about this place - I could eat here every night while traveling to Chicago. a definite go to place no matter what you're looking for!!!"

  • "Quartino 's restaurant served very good food - the small dishes for sharing was excellent particularly the shank - the meat just fell off the bone. We look forward to going back there again. The wine list was extensive and the desserts delicious - excellent!"

  • "My husband and I are originally from Chicago but currently live in DC. We had a large group on a Saturday night before the Shamrock Shuffle. Our wait staff was fantastic -- explained the menu, offered suggestions, and provided an easy way to pay with multiple cards. Food was awesome. Our dinner went off without a hitch. I couldn't have been more impressed. We will definitely be coming back!"

  • "Excellent atmosphere. It has the bustling, loud, crowded feel of a true piazza. The food was OUTSTANDING and very reasonably priced! As was the wine! We took out-of-town family here, and we were so happy we did! This is a great place for a FUN night, with a group. Make a reservation though! I called a few days ahead and they easily accommodated my part of 5. Not great for a romantic night or a night with kids, but if you've got a fun group of friends or a loud Italian family like I do, this is PERFECT for you!"

  • "Awesome small plate menu. Love that you can try a little bit of everything. Don't attempt to go without reservation!!!! Seating a bit tight, but worth it. Service is always wonderful, never rushed, wait staff and hostess stand always polite. Our go to place when we are in Chicago."

  • "Our 7 yr. old granddaughter has allergies to fish, nuts and eggs. Quartino was recommended for people with allergy challenges and that is the main reason we made a reservation there. Though it was busy when we arrived, we were taken immediately to our table. It was apparent that our waiter understood our allergy concerns and that they take such issues seriously. The food was very delicious, the ambiance great as was the service and we felt secure that precautions were taken to comply with our needs. In addition to all that, we have to comment on the reasonable pricing. All in all, we had a marvellous time and will definitely return as soon as we can"

  • "I've been here about 10 times over the last 5 years or so and the food remains consistently good. The service has always been outstanding - the last time I was there our first dish came somewhat late after we placed our orders and our server had it comped for taking so long. The format is Italian food in a small, shared plate format. Dishes are served as soon as they're ready and the menu strikes a nice balance between vegetarian and meat dishes. There is a full bar. Reservations are recommended."

  • "We were visiting Chicago and originally planned to go to another pizza restaurant. We walked by Quartino's, looked at their menu, and liked the options better. We checked the on-line reviews and decided to make a reservation. It was a Wednesday night; we were able to get a reservation, which was great as the restaurant quickly filled up. We split three dishes--the spinach and pear salad, a pizza, and the shrimp risotto--all were delicious. We asked to be seated by the fireplace upstairs as it was a cold night. They quickly changed some table layouts upstairs to accommodate us. The waiter was very helpful and friendly. I would suggest ordering one main dish at a time and then ordering more if you are still hungry."

  • "Took a work group there, we sat upstairs, great food and service. We had one person order for the table of 15. Small plate menu."

  • "The only issue I had with the experience was that we were seated in a corner that received a lot of traffic and I kept getting bumped by people passing by. Other than that, it was amazing!"

  • "Lively, quality plate sharing and a good value. We come here every year with the family and are not disappointed. I half expect the restaurant to tire given its longevity but it impresses every time."
