A word from Quality Meats
Quality Meats is a contemporary restaurant that serves a rustic New American menu.
The varied menu focuses on modern interpretations of classic dishes such as Traditional Steak Tartare, Caesar Salad and Roasted Bone Marrow, in addition to several cuts of beef from legendary New York butchers Milton Abeles and Strassburger Meats.
The restaurant's side dishes alone merit a trip with innovative house specialties, including Corn Crème Brulee, Gnocchi and Cheese and Edamame with Mint Salt. The Quality Meats chefs are Craig Koketsu (Lespinasse, Stars) as executive chef and Cory Colton (Lespinasse, St.Regis) on pastry. The restaurant has a warm industrial atmosphere, created by award-winning AvroKO and features intimate dining areas, a comfortable bar area with well-stocked charcuterie bar.

  • "Awesome meat but also high prices. We shared had the porterhouse and it was delicious. The steak sauce is being freshly made at your table. The appetizer were also very nice - the tartare I recommend to share, as it is a big portion. The sides (asparagus and creamed spinach) were a bit disappointing and too expensive. A huge selection of wine from all over the world completes the menu. Not sure about dessert, we had to pass on that one - the espressos were nice though. Only downside was the unfriendly waiter. But that was just him, all other waiters were friendly."

  • "The decor was lovely and it gave an instant feel of decadence. However, the staff ignored us for a couple of minutes. We were told we were early and to go to the bar. The bar was surrounded by diners who were eating food, and I felt rude shouting over them to order my drinks. The selection of drinks was pretty awful as well. After a long wait, we were seated. These were pushed against a wall and in the middle of a walkway, meaning staff and diners had to squeeze past us I was looking forward to a delicious steak and the waiter reccomended getting a filet off the bone. This turned out to be terrible. Our water was not refreshed once during the meal. The table was tiny for the food we ordered. "

We definitely could hear all of their conversation and they could hear ours, and it was very difficult to get up during the meal without accidentally hitting another table."

  • "The food, the service, the atmosphere. My husband and I visited New York City to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. We chose Quality Meats because of the great reviews we have read online. This restaurant lived up to all of the hype. We ordered the hanger steak with brandied cherries, the rib steak, the parmesean waffle fries, and the asparagus. Everything was cooked to perfection. There was absolutely nothing left on any of the plates at the end of dinner. And let's not forget about their original steak sauce that complements the steaks to perfectly. This is definitely a place everyone must visit."

  • "The ambiance was very nice, but it was too loud in there. The food was not good. They screwed up one of our orders twice. My wife ordered a medium filet and they cooked it well done. We told them about it they handled it courteously and sent her another one. The only problem is they brought her a rare steak and got it wrong the 2nd time. They apologized about the situation and offered to take the steak off the bill and gave us a dessert on the house. My order was cooked well, but the aged steak I had lacked flavor. The service was good, but they were obviously short staffed and there were several glasses dropped throughout the night. I was really looking forward to dining here for the first time, but it was a tremendous disappointment."

  • "Space is awkward. We had to walk down a flight of stairs, wend our way around tables and then up two flights and again wend our way through tables. The person sitting behind my chair was on the banquette, but so close it was claustrophobic. Service was very good - our server was a delightful young woman with a great smile who knew her job. Food was OK. VERY pricy. There are too many restaurants in the area to try so I am not inclined to return."

  • "I regularly travel to NYC for business and have dined at many of the cities most heralded locations. Quality Meats and their staff far exceeded my expectations and has become my new favorite establishment in the city. The décor is trendy and less stuffy than your traditional NYC steakhouse. Our booth was very comfortable and the Edison bulbs illuminating the space amplified the ambiance. They had a well appointed bar with an ample selection of Scotch & Bourbon. To our good fortune, they had 3 bottles of the extremely rare Pappy Van Winkle (20yr, 12yr & 10yr), offered in a flight. Kent & Steve provided outstanding service. The bread is amazing. I highly recommend the bacon w/peanut butter appetizer, porterhouse & corn crème brulee."

  • "Booked a table based on the signage of this attractive restaurant and the fact that I love a good steakhouse. Delivered piping hot and crowned with sea salt, the bread proved a delightful harbinger of great things to come. Next up was the Green Goddess chopped salad; a blend of Romaine, Cucumbers, Olives, Red Onions, Apples, Sunflower Seeds, Egg, Avocado & Green Goddess Dressing which was deceptively delicious. My bone-in ribeye was perfectly charred and flavorful as could be. A corn "creme brulee" accompaniment--complete with caramelized sugar on top--was an absolute superstar. And the pièce de résistance? Sticky Toffee Pudding Cake graced with Caramel Sauce and paired with Fig Ice Cream. I'll dream of that dessert for some time to come."

They make you feel as though you are a regular, they are attentive, knowledgeable and just seem to know exactly what you need. The decor, lighting and layout immediately allow one to escape the world and indulge in the experience of fine dining. The rib eye was tender and mouth watering accompanied by a delicious and freshly made steak sauce, coupled with roasted potatoes and corn creme brulee which were all simply excellent. Though it's an upscale restaurant, it's yet very comfortable and smart. Loved the clean/tidy bathrooms, with Bigelow soap/lotion and wall of folded towels. Great attention to detail, great service and great food. In a word, Quality Meats is GREAT!"

Maybe the best porterhouse I've had to date and the sides were all excellent. We all really loved our food. Unfortunately our server was terrible. The waiter had an attitude for no apparent reason and he messed up our order forgetting one side. Oh well what can you do right."

  • "You always get a great experience at Quality Meats. Go for lunch if you like a brighter scene and a place for business meetings. It's usually sexier and more romantic at night. There are a large variety of food choices for lunch. For steak lovers such as I am, I can still get my steak fix with a bone in rib eye and filet cooked to medium rare perfection. Sides are excellent, don't forget the creamed spinach, corn creme brûlée and you can also order one of the salads they offer as a side dish. Check out the wine list (even for lunch) and the special list in the front has a lot of hidden gems at a great price."
