A word from Quality Meats
Quality Meats is a contemporary restaurant that serves a rustic New American menu.
The varied menu focuses on modern interpretations of classic dishes such as Traditional Steak Tartare, Caesar Salad and Roasted Bone Marrow, in addition to several cuts of beef from legendary New York butchers Milton Abeles and Strassburger Meats.
The restaurant's side dishes alone merit a trip with innovative house specialties, including Corn Crème Brulee, Gnocchi and Cheese and Edamame with Mint Salt. The Quality Meats chefs are Craig Koketsu (Lespinasse, Stars) as executive chef and Cory Colton (Lespinasse, St.Regis) on pastry. The restaurant has a warm industrial atmosphere, created by award-winning AvroKO and features intimate dining areas, a comfortable bar area with well-stocked charcuterie bar.

The etr-thick cut tenderloin was cooked to perfection, crispy on the outside, pink in the middle. The Gnochi with creamy bread crumb sauce was sublime, and the Tronquoy Lalande 2005 was drinking perfectly and worth the up-spend. Sit upstairs if you prefer a slightly lower noise level.

Our waitor was fantastic and could not have been more attentive. The food was overpriced and the atmosphere was very very loud for a 'dining' experience. Go to this restaurant if you like bar type atmosphere....but just with tablecloths!!!

  • Quality at Quality Meats!
    OpenTable Diner Since 2014

Not my first visit to Quality Meats and certainly won't be my last...but...for the first time I had a problem with my reservation for Quality Meats, and the hostess was NOT pleasant about it. She told me that I did not have a reservation nor could she accommodate my party of 4 because they were booked for the night. After I had to search my emails on my phone for the confirmation from Open Table and her huffing and puffing while I was doing so, she finally "found" my reservation... didn't apologize, just told me it was a "glitch"...she was extremely unfriendly, and that is normally not the experience I have when I dine at Quality Meats. That sort of set the tone for the beginning of the evening...but, once we were seated, the food was amazing as per usual, and the service was outstanding. I'm thinking they just need to tweak the attitude of the hostess...(as she is the first impression and should "host")...and they'll be fine. It's a don't miss in my opinion...but, you will pay for the experience. Well worth it! Corn Brule excellent!

The food was fantastic. We opted for the filet mignon and it was cooked beautifully. The wine was very nice as well. The draw back was the service. The hostess was delightful but the server left much to be desired. Rude and often acting as though we were an inconvenience to him. Very pushy and rushed us through our meal. Probably won't be back based on the service alone.

I made the reservation for a special night with my girlfriend. Upon arriving, you're welcomed to a "butchery" feel to the restaurant. After you get past the coat check and hostesses, you notice that this place is JAM PACKED! Every single table is completely filled. Without a reservation, from my observations, it would be next to impossible to get a seat without waiting forever and a day. The noise level was pretty up there too. Not excessively rowdy but enough that you may have to take it up a notch or two from your "indoor voices." We got to our seats and were instantly greeted by our waiter. He was friendly, knowledgeable and quite frankly funny. It wasn't the "ha-ha" funny where that's his normal personality, but rather, the kind of funny where he WANTED you to feel welcome. He wanted you to genuinely feel like the staff wants you here. And I, for one, appreciated that. The service by the 2-3 waiters, waiting on you and your party was immaculate. As for the food, I could honestly write a book but I'll keep it simple. The food, OUTSTANDING. Everuthing cooked to perfection, steaks, sides, you name it, it was cooked to perfection. Along with an extensive wine list, you're looking to pay a pretty penny. All in all, it was my girlfriend and I, and we ordered an appetizer, two entrées, two sides and 2 glasses of very decent wine, I ended up paying $215 with tip. Was it worth it? I believe so. Definitely try it!

  • QM is among my favorite three NY Steak Houses

My wife and I chose QM for her birthday dinner over a plethora of options because it is one of our favorite restaurants in New York. The space is interesting and industrial, and the ambience is romantic and cozy. This was a drizzly Monday evening, but the place was as lively as ever. We had to wait a few extra minutes for our table, but the food is entirely worth the wait and everybody knows it. I had a medium bone-in rib steak (fantastic), and she had a medium-well filet (I've decided I'll get the filet next time as this was one of the best filets I've ever tasted). We enjoyed the crispy potatoes, the cheese gnocchi, and the creamed spinach. The salads (Green Goddess and Tomato) were excellent as well. For wine we stuck to a familiar choice: Stag's Leap Artemis. In summary, this was a great evening and we're looking forward to the next time.

We have had the pleasure of dining at Quality Meat on several occasions and always had the most exceptional meal...Our visit this past Sunday was disappointing. The food was more typical of a chain restaurant and not what we have come to expect from them....Maybe it being a Sunday night was the problem, but we were very disappointed non the less.

Martini was weak. Shrimp cocktail was excellent. Three sauces with it were fabulous. Tuna tartar appetizer, very good. Steak was excellent (little small for the price.) It was a bone in filet. Sauces with steak were excellent. Brussels sprouts were overcooked and not tasty. Mushroom side dish was not good. Two desserts were really good. Overall a good experience but could be improved on. Service was good. Friendly etc. Like that.

Excellent NYC steak house for top quality meat. The sides are also great. Was a little noisy when we dined as it has got a business clientele which translated to a bunch of rowdy blokes on a table next to us....not a problem for me with my guests but would have been a little more annoying if you were on a date! Still one of the best steak experiences in NYC and the service is exceptional.

Accolades to the entire team from the Executive Chef who produced the most tasteful, beautifully plated delicacies and decadent desserts, to the finest staff who aims to please, to the beautiful decor, great layout and amazingly warm ambience for a larger restaurant. Went with two other couples -- rave reviews all around. Can't wait to go back. The prices are very reasonable given the portion size. We were lead up multiple staircases, through various dining spaces to a room at the furthest corner of the restaurant, truly Siberia. The hostess did ask if the table was ok and the staff in general were pleasant and accommodating. The food arrived lukewarm perhaps because it had so far to travel. It was ok, nothing special.

I've dined here a few times and always been impressed with both food and service but this trip was a bitter disappointment. Atmosphere was loud as expected. Service was painfully slow - it took over 2 1/2 hours for a meal due to slow service. I'd prefer not to spend more than 90 minutes (at the very most) but that simply wasn't possible with the long delays between courses. Much of the food had a consistent theme: overcooked and not hot. This theme included the rolls, the bread served with the bone marrow appetizer, meatball appetizer, grilled mushrooms. Steaks were OK but certainly not for a steakhouse of this caliber. I may return for one more try but only due to my previous positive experiences.

I came here with great expectations, and with several recommendations, but left disappointed. The atmosphere was fine - I asked for and received a quiet table upstairs. The service was appropriately attentive. My guest and I ordered a porterhouse for two (my favorite), and I also ordered a crabmeat cocktail. Both were presented much as I've seen at other NY steakhouses. it was only as I ate that I was disappointed. The three crsb dipping sauces were bland. The steak itself was bland - no taste. Perhaps no salt? A bit gristlely as well. The red wine list had few choices in the $75-150 range - most were way too high. There are far better steak joints in this town.

Enjoyed Quality Meats very much. Atmosphere is more intimate and has more character than some of the other NYC steak houses - feels like you are eating in a wine cellar almost. Food was delicious and service was friendly and attentive - just the right amount of attention and quick service without feeling rushed or abandoned. Had the Porterhouse for 2 - filet and sirloin - with asparagas and waffle fries. Steak was sliced off the bone which was nice - perfectly cooked. Not that pricey for NYC - about $100-$125 per person depending on what you drink/order. Recommend very much.

The porterhouse for 2 was cooked perfectly. The sides were not the best, the chop salad was nothing special. Lettuce with bits of apple and tons of dressing. The meatball appy was very dry. It must be due to the dry aged beef they used but the sauce did not compliment it. The brussels sprouts were top off with some cream white sauce, very unusual choice for this vegetable. anyways, I will come again....it just wasn't a perfect experience this time which I expect at a 5 star restaurant.

Service was poor to say the least. I am not one to complain as I myself own a co. For a long time and completely understand " an off day". But I would want the opinions of my clients as well. And in my opinion, the servers have no clue.it wasn't just one item. It was many. As well as the 3 other tables next to me not having desert due to the fact of not seeing a server for approx 30 min after receiving a desert menu. I also didn't have a drink the entire meal as I asked 2-3 servers ,,, there was a table of approx 8-10 patrons in which all servers focused on. Instead of the 3-4 tables including myself.

  • Great Food, Flawed Experience
    OpenTable Diner Since 2009VIP
    Dined on 10/30/2014
A number of my work colleagues have come here for business dinners and have spoken quite highly of the food and experience. So the wife and I decided to try it out for an anniversary dinner. Simply put, this is not a special occasion spot unless you like very loud, crowded, "sceney" spots. The food was absolutely as expected, which is to say top flight. Likewise the service was quite professional, from the floor management to the table service. But the noise level was just unacceptable, right down to the table of ten 20-somethings having a screaming contest. Seating was too tight. And for a spot with such a solid wine list, having only one type of wine glass (the wrong one for big reds...steakhouse people!) is a tragic flaw.
