A word from Quality Meats
Quality Meats is a contemporary restaurant that serves a rustic New American menu.
The varied menu focuses on modern interpretations of classic dishes such as Traditional Steak Tartare, Caesar Salad and Roasted Bone Marrow, in addition to several cuts of beef from legendary New York butchers Milton Abeles and Strassburger Meats.
The restaurant's side dishes alone merit a trip with innovative house specialties, including Corn Crème Brulee, Gnocchi and Cheese and Edamame with Mint Salt. The Quality Meats chefs are Craig Koketsu (Lespinasse, Stars) as executive chef and Cory Colton (Lespinasse, St.Regis) on pastry. The restaurant has a warm industrial atmosphere, created by award-winning AvroKO and features intimate dining areas, a comfortable bar area with well-stocked charcuterie bar.

  • "This dinner was simply delicious. The atmosphere is exciting. So much energy felt as you go to table. Every course was remarkable. Bacon in peanut butter and blood orange was a surprise and totally yummy. Tomatoes topped in bacon compote and cheese was amazing. Steaks were tender and tasty, cooked to perfect. Wine recommendation was best ever. Highly recommend this place!"

  • "We were able to engage in wonderful conversation without screaming. Both was nicely situuated. The only not great thing was the Caesar Saled was awful. Served in amed deep bowl - tasteless. Asked for extra dressing and extra cheese. Helped a little but they should either learn how to make (and serve) a proper caesar or just delete it from the menu. There are enuf other good things to choose from. Mignonette sauce was a bit weird but passable. Steak was large (rib eye) and good - we had to get them to make it more medium rae but was perfect 2nd time out. Over all a wonderful night. Love the space"

  • "The food was delicious and the service was great as well. The only thing I did not like was the solicitation received after 2 minutes of sitting at our table. We had not even gotten our drinks and someone from the restaurant stopped by our table to promote their new restaurant (same company as Quality Meats). The man gave us a card offering free champagne when we visit the new restaurant. I personally do not like being solicited specially at a high end restaurant. He should have waited for us to leave and done it on our way out the door. We threw away the card."

  • "Delicious as always. Staff is terrific..attentive,helpful but not intrusive. Will be back again and again. It's a shame that Quality Italian got such poor health code violations. I was looking forward to trying their Chicken Parm since this evening out we had a big group with us. But QM never disappoints."

  • "The drinks were decent and the food was ok. We both had taco trios and some of the tacos were better than others. Cilantro was used quite liberally and to the detriment of the tacos. We were initially seated at a front table, facing west as the sun was setting. It was so hot and bright that I could not remove my sunglasses. We didn't complain though as we had been late for our reservation. However, shortly after our entrees were served, a manager came by and asked us to move tables as the restaurant wanted to open the front door/windows and expand their seating onto the sidewalk. We complied, but I found that to be completely unacceptable! At least offer us a round of drinks or a dessert if you're going to interrupt my meal to do that!"

  • "One of my favorite steak houses in the city. Food is delicious and the service is great. Ambiance, by the eating area at least, is typically very calm and mellow. Nice for a night out with the lady. During my last visit however, a large group of young men (college students maybe) sat right next to my table. They weren't the quietest bunch but it was still a fine dining experience."

  • "I ve enjoyed Quality Meats a number of times for dinner, although this was my first time going for lunch. The restaurant was only about a 1/4 full. I typically start with a tomato appetizer, sprinkled with bacon and roquefort. Surprisingly, this dish did not appear on the lunch menu and I was told by my waiter that the kitchen would not be able to accommodate. Tomatoes and bacon? Not terrible complicated. Notwithstanding, an overall enjoyable experience."

  • "While a wonderful steak should make for a wonderful steakhouse, there is so much more that goes into a positive dining experience beyond food. If the steak were exceptional/superb, and cooked exactly how we had ordered it, then maybe I would let the rest slide, but it was only "very good," and definitely not the best it could have been. We were seated nearly 25 minutes past our 9:30 reservation, a late dinner that was only made much later by their inability to seat us - if a restaurant can't guarantee a seating time, then they should not take reservations for said seating time. Our waitress was seemingly flustered and overwhelmed, gave us very little attention, and misheard part of our order. Understaffed? maybe. But not an excuse."

  • "This was my 3rd visit, and I had clearly been lucky before as always seated more or less when I arrived, but I had a 8 30 reservation for 3, we arrived on time but were not seated for an hour, frankly by then I just wasn't that hungry anymore and couldn't eat my meal,so a bit of a waste of money . On the plus side, we had a lovely waitress, the food is always excellent as is the wine list, but I would hesitate to go again at that time as it is clearly just too busy and a reservation makes no difference as people who didn't have a reservation were seated before us, so best to go either really early at 7 ish or as a post theatre supper,"

  • "Meat cuts were good, serving a Rib Eye leaving the whole bone on makes it tough to eat as any attempt to move the steak can result in wine glasses/bottle etc being knocked over.One steak underdone the other over. Having a pre-dinner drink at the bar and then having to pay for it before you sit down to eat, bizarre, is the bar run by a different company? I ordered Tsingtao beer, they only had two cans, not a great start. A waiter mixing a steak sauce at the table is nothing more than a gimmick, not good sauce anyway. The service ranged from inattentive to obsequious. We just moved two blocks away and were excited to have what we had heard was a top Steakhouse within a 5 minute walk. Will take a cab elsewhere. Oysters and wine list were good"

  • "Went there on 6/20 for lunch. Our babysitter failed to show up so I called the restaurant to let them know we would be bringing a 3yo toddler and 3mo baby. They were super nice and told us it was not an issue at all. They gave us a corner table in the lower level and it was great. Service was polite and nice, recommended wine and explained the differences of how steaks can be cooked (I know this is expected, but I've been to a few places where they don't say anything!) I had the Aged Bone-in Sirloin medium rare and it was excellent. Parmesan fries and creamy spinach were also very good. Salads a little disappointing, the dressing was barely noticeable. I would definitively recommend it and am looking forward to visiting again."

  • "Admittedly, we headed to the restaurant with shorts and nice t-shirts, after a busy day sight seeing. Well, we must have looked like we didn't have money to the waiter. We found him condescending. His assistant was even worse - dropped a dirty fork on my husband and didn't even apologize. He then returned with more cutlery and tossed them in front of us. This was definitely novel for us. Fortunately, the food was delicious, although my husband's tuna was smaller than expected. We elected to have dessert somewhere else. We would not return."

  • "My boyfriend and I went into the city specifically to eat at Quality Meats. He had been there previously for a bachelor party and was not impressed, but he agreed to give it another shot and we were both so glad he did! Although we had a reservation we did have to wait about 15 minutes for our table but it was well worth the wait! The server was attentive, but not annoyingly so and the food was ridiculously amazing. The appetizers were especially creative! I would go just for those! The ambiance is very romantic and although you are in tight quarters with other diners and it is a bit noisy, it is a wonderful date night restaurant. I can't wait to go back again!"

  • "Quality Meats is BY FAR our favorite restaurant in NYC, Manhattan. The quality of the food and service is top notch. At first, you wouldn't even notice this gem off of 6th Ave. and 58th St. in Midtown Manhattan; but once inside you'll know why it's a keeper. The lively scene inside is great for an early dinner or later drink. The service is impeccable, and the food is FANTASTIC! We've never had a bad meal… the steaks are cooked perfectly to your liking, and there are several GREAT appetizers… oysters on a half shell, roasted bone marrow, and the shrimp cocktail are great starters. We've eaten all the cuts of steak there, and ALL have been GREAT! Make sure if you're in Manhattan to give this a whirl… you won't be disappointed."

  • "Rib steak, Hanger Steak, Baked Oysters, Spinach- excellent. Corn creme brulee & chicken- slightly dry. We sat upstairs and while the ambience was great, it was dark inside. It didn't bother our party, but be prepared. Our waitress was TERRIBLE. The men who helped serve & clear the table were better & more friendly than the waitress. She was slow, never checked in, and when our oysters came to the table she had no idea which were which. We received an oyster that was so minuscule it was almost an empty shell and when we asked her why it was so small and if she could change the one oyster, she stuttered and said "They're oysters! They come in different sizes! I can get the manager for you if you want to complain." Well, excuse me for asking!"

  • "They were very accommodating as far as making salads into appetizer portions and substituting or rearranging. i.e. the roasted veg were a topping for the salads, I asked for it as a side to my entree, no problem. The food was prepared as ordered (medium rare was indeed, medium rare), and arrived promptly. I'd go back again."
