A word from Quality Meats
Quality Meats is a contemporary restaurant that serves a rustic New American menu.
The varied menu focuses on modern interpretations of classic dishes such as Traditional Steak Tartare, Caesar Salad and Roasted Bone Marrow, in addition to several cuts of beef from legendary New York butchers Milton Abeles and Strassburger Meats.
The restaurant's side dishes alone merit a trip with innovative house specialties, including Corn Crème Brulee, Gnocchi and Cheese and Edamame with Mint Salt. The Quality Meats chefs are Craig Koketsu (Lespinasse, Stars) as executive chef and Cory Colton (Lespinasse, St.Regis) on pastry. The restaurant has a warm industrial atmosphere, created by award-winning AvroKO and features intimate dining areas, a comfortable bar area with well-stocked charcuterie bar.

Probably the best steak my wife and I have ever had....and we have been all over the country. We had the rib steak for two and it was amazing. 64 oz steak with two full ribs attached and done perfectly! The baked oysters were very good as well. My only complaint is the place is small, table close together and extremely loud!!!! Otherwise it was an amazing meal. Would definitely go back when in NYC.

I was excited to return after 2 excellent meals. Our dinner was lack luster and the meat-- the main event-- was just average. Given the prices, it was disappointing; if I had gone to a bistro and had it, I probably would have been happy.

I'm from Chicago, so I have no shortage of access to excellent steak. Visiting NY and wanted to hit a home run on a steakhouse. I considered a few options, including Peter Luger. I have to say, Quality Meats lived up to the name. Everything about this restaurant impressed. Excellent quality of meat, excellent app choices and great sides. Execution was spot on. We were incredibly pleased and would recommend to other foodies just like us. We got the bone marrow (awesome), oysters, ribeye (on a tomahawk bone), filet, side of bacon with peanut butter (amazing), and a great dessert. Wine choices were solid - we got a 2005 Boudreaux in the $130 range.

We selected Quality Meats for a Wine Week lunch. If you are not familiar, Wine Week is a semi-annual promotion that promises, well, The food was great. The wines were, well, disappointing. Moreover, we were notified of the 'Last Call for wines' when we had not yet tasted the last two wines, and still enjoying our lunch. This was the highly touted 'Wine Week' where featured wines are 'poured throughout your lunch'... We were rushed... and ultimately dismayed to discover as we were leaving that the wines were still being poured downstairs. Should we come back? YOU decide.

QM was recommended by a friend who recently dined there on a trip to NYC. We were looking forward to it but just were not blown away by the experience. Atmosphere and service were top notch and cocktails were generous and priced well. The food was just okay. We ordered the bacon appetizer which was good and enough to share. We ordered the filet and bone-in ribeye. The first filet came to the table overcooked and clearly not a center cut. The waiter and manager handled it well and quickly brought a second one that was perfect. The rib steak was delicious but by the time the bone was removed was probably only 9-10 ounces. The corn brule was good but the mushroom side was not. It was taken off our bill.

Oh the meat was bliss. Ordered a rib eye steak and it was huge with the bone sticking out from the plate. Sides complemented the steak really well and coming from the UK I was not prepared for the amount of meat that was presented in front of me. It was delicious and practically had to roll myself out of the restaurant. Highly recommend the food. Mmmmmm.

I have been to many great restaurants. If the food is worth it and the ambiance fits, I don't mind paying a hefty price. However, the food was OK at best and the bill was $360 for 4 people. The table we were seated at was so tight I could barely fit. BTW I am not a large man.

Quality Meats has everything you look for in a restaurant - excellent service, delicious food and amazing ambiance. We had a beautiful table upstairs towards the back which kept the noise level down. I suggest ordering light appetizers because the main event is worth not being too full to eat. The restaurant offers a good balance of specials for those not in the mood for a steak, but I highly recommend a steak dish. the side dishes were my favorite part of the whole meal and again I was very happy I didn't fill up on apps. Finally, you must have an ice cream cake for dessert! I'm not a huge Manhattan restaurant fan since I usually find them too noisy with expensive prices and little food, but this restaurant has changed that view!

Booked this at short notice for a family celebration whilst on holiday in New York. All staff were friendly, welcoming and attentive. All the food we ordered was well cooked and presented and steaks cooked exactly as requested. The only negative, for me personally, is that I found the restaurant a little dark. Subdued lighting is fine but this was too low for me. Certainly wouldn't put me off booking again or recommending the restaurant to friends.

Went on a Thursday they only had reservation for 5:30 or 9 pm. I was going shopping on fifth so took 9 pm. I actually finished early and ended up going earlier 7:45 to my reservation. There true to the reservation time. We had to wait until 8:56 pm to be seated. If the front area had a better system were bar are would have not been bad. In order for you to seat at bar and a small coach I was told you had to have dinner there. So we had to stand for over a hour. But we still order drinks. Bar was packed, people bunkin in to each other. Once we seated the food was great and the waiter was very nice and food was prompt.

I loved it through and through the first few times I visited but I think the service had an off day. Our server never heard of Veuve Clicquot, mentioned he was in training (unchaperoned) then took an eternity to take orders and disappeared never to be seen again. Our table wasn't covered for I'd say a good 20 min while the restaurant was maybe 30% full. Attention to detail was also off (no ice in the ice bucket, etc.). Maitre D' was very nice and eventually the new server was adequate but none of this should have happened here and there are so many well established steakhouses in Midtown that don't bumble. Food is always great so they have that going for them and the look and feel of the restaurant is amazing. Hoping this was an anomaly.

This is not your traditional stodgy steak house - it has a modern twist on the menu and an industrial, modern and edgy decor. The steaks were unbelievably tasty - skirt steak with a bing cherry sauce...the appetizers had recognizable food with a great twist in presentation: creme brulee creamed corn was to die for; watermelon cubes on a small cutting board to dip in flavored salt; tomato salad with huge heirloom slice, a few onion rings topped with blue cheese. The hostesses and our waiter were excellent and patient with the other half of our party who were late - they sat two of us without a problem and did not pressure us to leave so they could turn a table. A definite must!

Everything we ordered was delicious and the service was great. We were seated upstairs so the noise level was fine. My only complaint was the 20 minute wait to be seated. We(a party of 2) arrived a couple of minutes early for our 9 pm reservations and weren't seated until 9:20. Granted it was a Friday night and it was packed, but I had to harass the 3 hostesses relaxing by the door because the table was apparently ready, they just didn't get us yet. I recommend: the scallop appetizer, the fresh tuna tartar, porterhouse for two, and the corn and gnocchi side dishes. I'm sure most items on the menu are amazing, but these are the dishes I can vouch for. Enjoy!

We absolutely fell into Quality Meats by accident. We were staying nearby and my husband chose it based on the very fact that it was in the neighborhood. We were so impressed by the staff, the VERY cool atmosphere (even the ladies' room was awesome! So was the phone "booth"!). The food was wonderful, the cocktails imaginative and perfect. We even went back for after theatre drinks 2 nights later with another couple and they loved it too. Can't wait to become 'regulars"!

We (my wife and me) had a dry-aged Porterhouse Steak for 2, which was very good, perfect as it can be. The winecard is top notch and contents a lot of good wines (white, red and rosé) by glass. The prices level is high, but still in the ballpark. The guests are predominant well dressed, but there are also men in Jeans and T-shirt. The service is very professional and our waiter was really friendly and perfect. The dinner itself does not last a longer time, because one gets everything quick and the noise-level is high, but fortunately they do not play any background music. The seats are not upholstered and slightly hard. All-in-all: This Steakrestaurant is - without any doubt - worth a visit!
