Quality MeatsBad Table AssignmentsThe hostess tried to stick us at a table right at the entrance to the kitchen. I refused to sit there and asked for another table. It was my daughter's birthday. I had booked nearly a month in advance. They did end up seating us at a better table. At the time we arrived, there were at least four or five open tables set for four. I am convinced restaurants practice "selective" seating. They try to hold the better tables for diners who meet their image requirements. Although food was great and the service attentive, we will not return. We will tell others about our bad first impression.6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMFam in townTook out of towners here and they loved it! Not stuffy steak house, but still in midtown. Got the special lemonade-based drinks in plastic to-go cups, which was amazing! The sommelier turned his nose up at it, but whatever. We loved it.6/10/2013 12:00:00 AMHidden Manhatten GemAbsolutely loved this place have been to NYC many times but this time I was recommended this restaurant and so glad I was best place I've eaten in a long time definitely up in my top 3 now6/10/2013 12:00:00 AMloved it!I was here with my boyfriend because I was craving for some steak. This place was beautiful and I loved their steak. I ordered the three fillet thing (i dont remember the exact name of this significant one) but I will not order this one again. Just the regular fillet will be better I think. And we had lobster which was great also.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMThe veal chop and creamedThe veal chop and creamed spinach were delicious. The tuna appetizer was bland. The wine list fantastic. Missed the mark on meat temperature but remedied it immediately and apologetically. I'd go back.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMDecor is way cooler than theDecor is way cooler than the average steakhouse. Definitely great for business lunch or dinner.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMNever disappointsThis was the third or fourth time I have eaten there with friends. Was in town for event. This place has an amazing interior, interesting and unique. Staff is extremely well educated. Sommelier was amazing. Quality of food is very high. Unique specials. Noise level is a bit annoying but it's a NYC thing. Great specials. Food is heavy. Not a place to go for light offerings.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat experienceMy husband took me to Quality Meats to celebrate my birthday, and it was definitely the most memorable meal I have had in a long time. Everything from the service to the food quality and the decor were absolutely outstanding! I got the filet mignon, which was excellent, and especially notable was the corn creme brûlée- what an inventive side dish! And probably my favorite part of the meal funny enough was actually the peach Arnold Palmer drink, which I now plan on trying to recreate at home because it was so delicious and refreshing (nice on a 90 degree day!). For dessert, we got one of the homemade ice cream flavors- lemon with cookie swirls- amazing ending to a perfect meal!5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat steak and sides. FantasticGreat steak and sides. Fantastic wine list. Will definitely go back.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat burgerDropped in for lunch and had the 'special' burger. It came with popcorn, which was fine as I'm not a fries person. The burger was not "huge" but was extremely tasty, rich, and filling. Will try to come hungrier and get dessert next time as that list looked attractive.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMTry the Corn Creme Brulee!!!Fantastic food at Quality Meats. One drawback - they were out of the wine we wanted. In terms of the food, everything we had was good. The Green Goddess chopped salad had a nice combination of onions, avocado, and apples. The crispy potatoes were delicious. The corn creme brulee was one of the best side dishes I have ever had! Sweet and creamy...it was great! My filet trio was great and my friend had sea bass. We were so full we couldn't try dessert!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMTop notch! We loved our dinner at Quality Meats and were treated so well.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMFood and service were veryFood and service were very good. We had some problems with steaks not being cooked enough, but the staff went above and beyond to fix the problem and the final product was excellent!. Our group of 5 really enjoyed our dining experience from appetizers to dessert and will recommend to all we know.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMAnniversary DinnerWe werd on vacation and a friend recommended Quality Meats. As soon as we walked in we thought the place was great. It was very energetic but so noisy that you couldn't have a conversation with your table. The service was great. Our waiter was timely and provided with great suggestions for evrything, cheese and broccoli balls are awesome.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat DinnerWent back to QM recently for the first time in about 3-4 years with guests from out of town who love steak. It was a great experience. The restaurant was busy but not too loud, cocktails were well made, they have an extensive wine list with lots of choices to complement the menu and, most importantly, great steaks. At the end of the meal I wondered why it had been so long since I had last eaten there. Will definitely go back soon.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat lunch spotTry the chopped salad for lunch; there are so many different combinations possible here that you never get bored!5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMFriendly, great service; yummy foodTry the Roasted Chicken with Kumquats. It's sublime.
We came in a little bit late for our dinner reservation, but the staff greeted us warmly and seated us right away. It definitely made us feel welcome when they immediately fawned over our kid. They seated us at a quiet corner table upstairs, and they were always around when we needed our glasses refilled. Two of us ordered the steak for two, medium rare, and it was a great piece of meat. The spinach side was just ok. But the real winner was my dad's order of Roasted Chicken with Kumquats. I love red meat, but this chicken dish was beautiful in every way.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat from start to finishWe were treating some friends who live around the corner to a "Thank You" dinner and we were ALL very happy we picked Quality Meats! Starting with the cute (and delicious) amuse bouche (a stuffed radish) and delicious baked bread, all the way through to the fabulous ice creams and sticky toffee cake everything was wonderful. The service was efficient, helpful and friendly. It was a perfect dining experience. And, while it is a bit pricey, no complaint!5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMSplurge in New YorkFor our first visit to NYC we wanted to have a special meal. We found Quality Meats via Trip Advisor and were very happy with our experience.
This is not a cheap restaurant by any means (our bill for 2 courses plus a bottle of wine came to $200, plus tip) but the food and service were worth the expense for a special occasion.
Recommended.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMExceptional !!Exceptional in food and service . Our waiter went way beyond what was expected, and made our experience enjoyable. I will definitely recommend this place to dine .5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMPosh dining with stressed staffGreat food, but we had to wait over 30 minutes when we got to the restaurant. Once seated the waiter was so stressed out we barely got eye contact with him. If you are posh or like to see posh people, this is the place. Do you just enough a great steak, I'm quite positive there are better options.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMBest meat in NYCAmazing, perfectly cooked meat. Delicious seafood (especially crab). Love side orders (Gnocchi, asparagus,etc...). Would definitely recommend it.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Place for SteaksFood and service were great. I would definitely recommend the restaurant.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMAs Always... IncredibleIt's our go-to. It's our staple. And it always impresses.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMI just love this place - theI just love this place - the ribs are to die for, the tuna tartare is amazing and generally it's an awesome place!5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMCreated a vegetarian dishIt was my daughter's 24th birthday and she lives in Manhattan and we (her parents) came in from out of town to take her to Quality Meats. We went there 1 year ago and there was a vegetarian dish on the menu she just loved. Well as it turns out it wasn't on the menu anymore so we were just going to have drinks and an appetizer and go somewhere else for dinner. One of the managers came over and asked if everything was okay and I related the vegetarian pasta story. Before we knew it a young lady was sent over to see if they could create something she would like. They came up with something so we stayed. The bread, the free appetizer, the salmon, the filet with their own steak sauce was fabulous. Yummy desserts. The service is the best!5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat for a CelebrationFor my wife's Masters Graduation i took her to Quality Meats. I was our first time. The restaurant is impeccable. We had an amazing time. I recommend this place for visitors as well as locals who live in NY. I had the filet mignon which was superb ably prepared, and do not miss out on creamed corn. I will definitely return to Quality meats.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMawesome steakhouse, not a man caveAwesome appetizers, a great steak, fabulous wine menu (had an amazing bottle in the $60 range by Paul Hobbs). The take 5 ice cream was great and excellent service. A great decor and nie layout over a few floors. I would highly recommend and will definitely go back. After disappointing trips to Porter house and Striphouse, this has becom my ny steakhouse!5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMOur table was facing mirrorOur table was facing mirror in corner so next time I would request different table.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways great!Mother's Day dinner at Quality was fabulous! Our server was attentive and gave great recommendations. The appetizers were delicious. We shared crab cakes, tuna, beet salad & crab. Steaks & tuna all delicious and served properly cooked. There was a delicious 2004 Brunella on the specials wine menu which was fabulous. Great fun meal. We had the best banquet table on the main level off to the side. Everything was great as usual!!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreen GoddessThe chopped salad is a highlight. Not overdressed. Place is noisy, in a good way. Lots of buzz. A little more upscale than your average steakhouse. Interesting industrial decor, walls made to look like chopping blocks. Porterhouse for two very good but was cooked slightly more than medium rare. Quality potato a nice twist on twice baked. Homemade ice creams were all delicious.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Lost Art of ServiceI have dined at Quality Meats several times in the last two years. I have also eaten in steak houses all over the world. Quality Meats is as good as the best steaks houses anywhere. A great deal of care is made to ensure you are absolutely happy with the steak selection and preparation. Service staff are attentive and well trained. Looking forward to my next trip. Highly recommend the bone-in ribeye.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMQuality EverythingWhenever we have people in town, this is the spot. Everything is always so spot on.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing food. My husband'sAmazing food. My husband's steak was one of the best he has had and I had the tuna entree which was the best tuna that I have ever eaten in my life. Sides were wonderful - roasted beets, corn side dish (can't remember name), asparagus. Great wine list, great service, nice atmosphere. There is a reason this is such a highly rated restaurant. Of course, didn't have any room left for dessert but I am sure that was great as well. I wish that I could remember our waiter's name. He was great! One of the best all around meals we have experienced in our lifetime.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous!!!A dinner is not a dinner unless it involves meat according to my boyfriend - after a bit of research I booked Quality Meats as a surprise for our anniversary. We had a drink in the bar prior to our meal - the atmosphere was great and the attention to detail in terms of the decor was spot. The service was first class - the team were helpful & attentive without being over bearing. They were able to make great recommendations in terms of the food and wine to accompany your chosen dish. The corn Creme brûlée was amazing and has to be tried, they also make a great steak sauce at your table. They range of meat available is great, we had a 64oz porterhouse to share. If you love steak this is definitely a must do whilst your in New York!!!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Birthday!I took my boyfriend to QM for his 34th birthday- and he loved it!! The food was delicious and the wait staff were very attentive! I would strongly recommend the corn creme brulee- I wish I had the appetite (and waist size) to try everything!
We will definitely dine at QM again!5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistently greatDon't miss Quality Meats - among the best steakhouses in NYC5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was just greatThe food was excellent. My boned in sirloin was cooked perfectly. So tender and juicy. Service was good as well. I just find the place a bit too noisy for my liking. Need to yell for my friend to hear me.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMI LOVE KEVIN DILLIN AND RICHARDTHE FOOD WAS AMAZING AND KEVIN AND RICHARD MADE US FEEL SO SPECIAL I LOVE THEM AND LOVED THE PLACE IT WAS OUTSTANDING I WILL TOTALLY RETURN TO THIS PLACE!!!!5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious FoodWe had our 3rd delicious meal here and many of us are non steak eaters and loved the fish! Great service. It is pricey so be prepared to spend a good bit.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, not so great serviceIt was a family dinner (2 children, 2 adults) and we were celebrating a birthday. The waiter asked if we would like any wine to which we declined (because of the children) and once he saw us decline the wine, he wrote us off as poor tippers and less likely to spend a lot. Despite how much we ordered, I felt judged for not ordering more. But we were stuffed and unable to finish all the food. When the waiter came around with the dessert menu, we had to decline because we were so full. However, I felt the judgmental eyes of our waiter again. He brought out the check immediately, making me feel like I was being rushed out of the restaurant so he could work another table. Good food but you have to put up with judgmental waiters.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMCorn Creme BruleeIf you have nothing else have the corn creme brulee...it is superb. Pricy but food was that good. Steaks were excellent, very large. They undercook so you may have to send back (I did for medium that came out quite rare) but the rectified it quickly. Servers are very well trained and know their menu. Overall one of the better steak house experiences in NYC.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways delivers...We've been here 10+ times. It's always consistently very good. A great place for steak but there are other options.
The complimentary bread is very tasty. We usually go for a tuna tartare or sashimi starter, then my girlfriend eats steak, I go for the chicken. We usually have a couple of sides (corn creme brulee and waffle fries). They have an extensive and excellent wine list.
This is in my top 3-5 in Manhattan. I can't fault it - I just wish it was closer to where I live in the West Village.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazingEvery aspect of the meal was great! We had to wait a while so they gave us free champagne which is very nice! One of my favorite restaurants in NYC.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat place to gowe come into the city a few times a year to see shows and have dinner, rather than going to the trendy restaurant row, we look for other spots. Quality Meats was just the place. At first they put us at the furthest table of the place, my Dad can't walk all that well, they accomodated us, by keeping us on the bottom level. They brought samples of things to try and the food was delicious, too much to eat,, you can share for sure, salads and sides! Loved the candles lit everywhere! Would definitely go back!!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and cool placeEverything was great. A must get is the scallops so amazing. The only thing that kept it from being a 5 is it seemed as if our server was annoyed that we both didn't get $50 plates with sides. We had an app. The fish and a salad it was plenty of food and kept our bill from being to outrageous.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMI Am In Love!!!LOVE this place, the best steak in the US!! Always my first stop in New York. You do not want to miss this. Save room for ice cream!i5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMMade a special celebration great!Took my daughter to celebrate her 16th birthday and my mom to celebrate her 67th birthday. The staff made sure that they both felt special. Great steaks and wine...and save room for dessert!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMWhy hadn't I tried Quality Meats?I usually do my best to be open any and all new experiences. Crazy new Chinese revisionist in Park Slope? Check! The most amazing pie crust on the banks of New York City's most toxic river? Absolutely. So it shouldn't have been too much of a stretch for me to go to Quality Meats, a well reviewed and regarded American Nouveau steakhouse in Midtown. Hadn't I enjoyed Keens a historic spot a few blocks south? Aureole? Ma Peche? Whatever the reason, it's taken me until now to finally check out Quality Meats. And I'll be back. Have the lamb if it's on the menu, its brilliant. The wine list is amazing, the cocktails are really well done even though the bar area is small.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMA little disappointingMy husband, mom & I have been to quality meats 2 times within the past 4 weeks. We had a great experience the 1st time.We love good steak so we returned Friday nt.We live nearby & we've been to almost all of the great steakhouses in NY.This 2nd experience for my husband & me was as good as the first. However my mom was disappointed. Her steak was tough. She ate what she could of it but she did not want to send it back as we were all eating our meals. She's the one who chose quality meats because she had been there in the past & always had a great meal.My husband & I may return but with all of the great steak places around I don't think my mom will want to go back there.I don't blame her.Nothing was done for her when she let the manager know.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AM
