The New York Times (October 2006) - "Beyond our tables, the panorama of the lakefront, watercraft wake lines and row upon row of grapevines, with mountains in the distance, was mesmerizing." Wine Spectator (July 2004)- "One of the four best places to dine in the Okanagan."Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "The view is amazing and the service attentive. This was my sixth or seventh visit over the years. While I can't comment on the wine personally as I don't partake, my companions were raving about their choices. Our meals were great and we left full and happy. Highly recommended!"

  • "I brought some guests here for a quiet Sunday dinner, and my guest later claimed that it was the best dining experience he had had in over 10 years. The service was very professional without being stuffy, the food was perfect, the views were beautiful, and of course the wine was great. This is a show-piece of the Okanagan that I recommend to everyone."

  • "It was our first time to this restaurant and we were very pleased by the whole experience. The meal was spectacular and the view as the sun went down doesn't get much better. We will definitely be back. One minor complaint was that there was a very limited menu. I get it for a restaurant of this caliber but another beef entry would be really nice. Having said that, the food was amazing."

  • "We had lunch this weekend at Quails Gate and had an amazing time. Our meal was leisurely yet the service was prompt. Appetizers were delicious and most of the mains were too. The desserts were extremely tasty and good for sharing. I hadn't dined with parents with an infant before but the host kindly provided a high chair and tips for ensuring the baby was happy and comfortable. The view was incredible and overall I look forward to coming back again soon."

  • "The atmosphere, the food, and the service was great. Would highly recommend this restaurant. Our waiter was excellent. Tall, slim, fella with short dark hair really knew the products he was serving."

  • "Recently, my husband and I went to Quail's Gate winery for dinner. I can't really say anything BAD about the restaurant - the staff was fine, the food was good (but the portions were small and the dishes were not so spectacular that you overlooked that), the service was good, there wasn't a lot of noise.....the best thing about it was the view of the lake and the vineyard. 2 reasons that I would not jump to go back: #1, the place didn't feel very welcoming and #2, I would have preferred larger portions, especially at those prices."

  • "We went out for my wife`s birthday and as usual had a wonderful meal. I always read the menu in advance and was delighted that they had added mussles to the menu. The wines are excellent."

  • "The food and view were exceptional, along with the impressive wine list. The highlight of our lunch was our server Jan; his service was flawless and he had us laughing every time he came to the table. When we visit again, we will be sure to request him."

  • "From the attentive staff to the glorious food and wine I have not one complaint except my stomach could not handle more."

  • "Restaurant was not busy due to cold weather but the winter view was great, a lot quieter than summer time. Food was very well prepared and reasonably priced although the fish portion was a bit smaller than expected. The mussels were great, something I would expect from a Speciality Seafood restaurant on the coast"

  • "What nice way to spend Valentine's Day. From the greeting at the door to the server to the food and wine, it was a great experience. I would recommend Old Vines to anyone. We will be back in summer when we can enjoy the outdoor dining experience."

  • "Great food and beautiful location. Quails Gate wine was just too good. Slow service, so I had to keep enjoying the scenario longer and sipping more of their 2011 Pinot Noir :-)"

  • "We didn't have the great dinner for Valentine's Day Dinner we had hoped for. Maybe expecting a little too much. Staff and ambience was very nice. The food quality and flavours did not meet our expectations for the price point offered. Portions were smaller than usual, not sure if they were running out of food, that was the impression. Not sure we will return, definitely not our destination for Valentine's Day next year."

  • "My husband and I went here for a our Valentine's dinner. The restaurant is beautiful. Once seated we were ignored for at least 20 minutes. There was a server at the table in front of us who was giving that table amazing service. We finally had to ask her who our server was when she walked by us. She said she didn't know but she could help us. Later when she brought our wine she said she would be serving us so I am not sure if she didn't realize she was our server or what. We received our wine promptly (and it was very good) and our dinners were delicious. We were not checked on except once to make sure our dinners were ok and we had to ask for more bread. I felt disappointed only because I was expecting much better service."

  • "When our order came one of the meals was wrong.........My wife ordered duck and received chicken.....Waitress aknowledged her error in putting in the order....My wife decided she would keep the chicken as it looked good anyway....We were offered a desert wine for the error.....We don"t like desert wine so we declined..........I thought a discount, free deserts or a bottle of wine would have been more appropriate.........Not impressed with the offer ........My wife ate a meal you would have thrown away and nothing much was offered for the restaurants mistake............Poor customer service here."

  • "The service was exceptional!! The pork chop was great but could have been cooked about 2 minutes longer! Your Dry Reisling was very tasty!! The ambience was perfect. The fish was really good but a little bland. Overall we really enjoyed the experience. Thank you!"

  • "Our valentines dinner (on February 13th) was AMAZING. Our server was great, she didn't hang around the table too much or too little. I am a picky vegetarian, and she made sure I was able to get the risotto in the dinner sized portion... which I might add was phenomenal! Over all great service, great food and great restaurant. We will be back, we won't be waiting a whole year to do so though."

  • "Quails Gate is my favourite winery in the region and their restaurant was a perfect reflection of their reputation. Great food in a stunning restaurant with friendly servers that don't over impose. Although it was super quiet for brunch there wasn't too much atmosphere but it was very relaxing. I look forward to going there again."

  • "Our group had a fabulous evening. The food was excellent. All except one ordered from the Wine & Dine Menu and we ended up all buying bottles of wine to take home after trying the paired wines. Exceptional indeed!"

  • "When we put in our reservation through OpenTable We asked for a taste menu with wine pairing. The food and. Wines were all great. We especially liked the beef plate with tastes of fillet mignon and slow cooked short rib beef. Unique and great combination. It was not great as there was no confirmation of our order - the food just started arriving- no acknowledgement of our anniversary and limited checking or follow up."

  • "This is a great spot to introduce friends and colleagues to the Okanagan. On Sunday we had colleagues from the east in town on business. They had never had much time to visit the Okanagan, so before we took them on a mega-drive from Peachland to the southern shores of the lake beyond the Mission, we took them to Quail's Gate. What a great start to their day - service, wine, food, ambience - all contributed to a wonderful brunch and great conversation. They capped off the experience by stopping at the wine shop, doing some more tasting and then purchasing wine to take back with them. The sun came out as we sat down to eat and it stayed with us the rest of the day -- perhaps simply another feature of the bon vivance of the staff!!"

  • "Crab cakes average, albacore salad was the highlight. Filet not cooked to order. Both deserts looked great but I doubt they were made in house? I think the head chef may have been on holidays!"

  • "Ordered eggs benedict and specified to the server that I wanted the yolks hard, not runny. They arrived with one runny and one hard, when the server returned a few minutes later to see if we were needing anything, she did ask how things were. I told her my egg was runny, she offered to redo my meal but I indicated that I didn't want to wait to recook my meal and eat after my 3 friends were finished. I was appropriately compensated by not being charged for my meal. The server was excellent and friendly staff and the atmosphere made for an enjoyable time. Would come again with girlfriends for brunch but not with my husband. The size of proportions are a bit too small for a man, delicious, just not big enough."
