I chose this restaurant for its proximity to Second City and was mildly concerned that my party consisted of people from St. Louis, Nashville, and Texas, home to some of the best BBQ in the country. I did not have to worry - Chicago Q was delicious and everyone was loved their dishes! Service was great too and the building is so cute.

Although service was fabulous and quicker than I had ever experienced, it was clearly due to the turn-over rate of tables. A busser was washing our table before we'd even gotten our bill. This is a definite hot spot with delicious food but for the prices you pay, the noise and the hustle ruined my dining experience.

My first time inside. Way too loud in the main dining room! The low ceilings must keep the sound in. The smaller dining room with higher ceilings is the place to dine. Or the bar area. Great patio in nice weather. Fabulous servers. Good food. Nice choice of bbq sauces. I'd go again and stay out of main dining room.

My second time back, and loved every second of it. I arrived early, and the bartender was quick to serve, and made a great drink. Our waitress was great at making suggestions to the group, and our table was well attended from the server, to the bussers. The food was outstanding. Chicago Q exceeded everyone's expectations. This was Southern-style food that would be right at home in Charleston, SC or similar. Fabulous pulled chicken and pork - right out of one of the multiple industrial-size smokers they have in back-of-house (our waiter brought us back for a kitchen tour!). Were crushed that we couldn't try the fried oyster Po'Boy since the oysters didn't make it on the delivery truck that day, but the blackened alligator hit the spot. We went quite early for lunch (11am) and on a Monday, so I can't speak for ambiance, but I loved the decor inside and was amazed with the amount of natural light. Definitely worth a visit, and worth the short trip from downtown!

From the moment I turned and the corner and spotted the restaurant across the street, I knew we had made the right decision by making the reservation. A quaint patio adorned the front of the building, lit artfully by 2 large patio heaters comprised of a 3 foot tall flame mirthfully dancing inside of a 6 foot tall glass cylinder. A good beer and wine list offered plenty of choices with which we quenched our thirst as we perused the ample menu. And what a menu it was! We dined as a group of 6, yet I wished we were more so I could actually try everything on the menu I desired! The ribs were fantastic, the brisket a treat, and each of the sides I tried were delicious. You will not be disappointed if this is your choice.

We love Chicago q -- it satisfies my love for great brisket without having ketchup bottles and throw away utensils everywhere. The homemade pickles and chips are amazing no matter which meat choice you take, you can't go wrong. While the waiters are all in jeans and plaid shirts, make sure you're dressing like you live in Chareston, SC.

Chicago Q is a GREAT B B Q (and more) restaurant. The ribs were excellent, perfect texture and seasoning. They serve 4 different sauces with the ribs, but the ribs could stand on their own without sauce. Service was also great, attentive without being overbearing. MUST HAVES-competition baby back ribs, potato salad, cole slaw and the bourbon milk shake.

From the food, the service, to the space, you can not go wrong here! The decor, as well as the food, is comforting. I came for brunch and had a wonderful experience. The bloody mary bar is a great price and offers a great selection of veggies, meats, and cheese to adorn your bloody mary with. The kettle chips and bread and butter pickles on the table are also a nice touch! Portion sizes here are great and you will leave full (of food and happiness)!

I have been to the restaurant many times and this visit was disappointing from the moment we sat down. The chips were stale, the fried green tomatoes tasted funny, my kobe beef brisket was dry (as was my fellow dinner's kobe beef brisket sandwich) And my apple pie had no taste. I have had great meals here and will return but I was very disappointed in my meal.

It is a great alternative to other bbq joints in the city. Yes, you do pay more but it comes with the territory of being near the Gold Coast. The corn and brisket plate were favorites along with the mint juleps. It's loud inside but isn't too overwhelming. As for parking, a little bit of circling and you'll be able to score some street parking and if unsuccessful, there is valet. You do get your food really fast but the wait staff was slow so bewared if you are on a strict schedule. Overall, great Saturday night experience!

I have dined at Q 5 or 6 times....the BBQ is consistently good. Our most recent dining experience was similarly good. The noise level on the other hand was too high to carry on a comfortable conversation...everything is a hard service, perhaps a softer ceiling would help. The speed of our last visit was impressive....our ribs, brisket and tasting was delivered within 5 minutes of being ordered. Delicious as always...though the prices are among the highest in chicago for BBQ...

Sat outside on a nice cool night, the service was great and food was excellent with a few items that could be improved. Appetizers: Alligator and Charbroiled Oysters: They we both fantastic. Entrees: Perfectly smoked Baby back ribs, and great pulled pork. The brisket was decent but not great (a little tough) but good flavor. Sauces were good, the mustard was by far the best and the spicy was the same as the sweet with a few pepper flakes added. Definitely will be back.

We stumbled upon this gem as a farewell dinner after moving my son back to school. We were looking for something new in the city. Wow were we blown away. The dining room is like eating dinner in your best friends den. Nice tables, well spaced and a lots of beautiful hard wood. Don't miss the upstairs bar and lounge another beauty. As good as the setting was, the food was even better. I had the brisket - it melted in my mouth and my son had the pulled pork which he reviewed highly I love the fact that they give you four different types of sauce to try on your food. My favorite was the spicy barbecue. . Desert was rhubarb infused cheesecake. We're not rhubarb eaters but we simultaneously blurted - "great cheesecake" Don't miss it
