Went for my birthday , absolutely amazing! Started with the hush puppies, split the full slab of [competition] ribs...couldn't believe the flavor and how easily they [literally] fell off the bone. Staff was attentive and friendly. Overall: stupendious!

The food is fantastic, but the waiter described the specials of the day wrong and had no idea about the wines on the wine list and informed us that a full bodied petit syrah on the list with 15% alcohol was a "light red wine." Either he is a hardcore Amarone drinker or he has no idea and no education what is on the wine list.

I compete in barbecue competitions so my criteria for good BBQ is far above normal. I was plesently surprised that all meats and sides were at or above my quality level as far as expectations go. Ribs were juicy and had good smoke, shoulder was on point as well and chicken surprised me with good smoke and because of the brine process had good moisture as well. Cornbread was nice and warm with a nice dallop of honey butter on top. Wife is a big wine drinker and had 2 glasses, $14 a piece which was my only complaint, but she liked it so I couldn't complain about it to much. Overall very happy with q and will be back again.

The food was great!~ And there was LOTS of food! The waitress was very helpful and the host seated us in an area with little noise, as requested. The only fault here was a staff member trying to close up the restaurant kept opening a door that let the cold Chicago weather blast our table before we were finished. One of us actually went up and shut the door but this staff member only opened it again. Not a good way to end the evening!

ChicagoQ is a great place. Down home, southern/BBQ - a vibrant scene, good energy, fun vibe. The food is DELICIOUS. The staff is wonderful and attentive, especially Sima. Ask for her to be your waitperson. She is Very knowledgeable and accommodating. We ate there in October with a small group (family) and I loved it so much that I booked it again for this week - when we took out a big group (17) of customers during a tradeshow week. I specifically requested Sima to be our waitperson - and she was terrific. Most were men and they LOVED the ribs, brisket, bourbon - but even the ladies at the table enjoyed every delectable bite. It's a really fun place and a good alternative to the otherwise traditional Steak houses in Chicago.

We were a group of 6 and had a really nice time, our friends had not been there and found something for everyone. I will say the table was very tight for a party of 6 and considering we had a reservation for months. Other than that a great time.

Chef Lee Ann Whippen has made her seasonal changes to the Q menu and the ones we tried were outstanding. Chef Whippen's homemade sausage with mustard sauce was a great take on a loosely-packed fall sausage, but the pork belly with jalapeno/citrus marinade and salsa served with crispy kale was one of the best single dishes I've had in years! Everyone should make it a point to try this dish so as to set a benchmark for savory/sweet/spicy goodness. Our group's pulled chicken entree was great, as usual, and two of us got the underappreciated but always great smoked pork chops - which I think are the best in the city of Chicago (which are the best anywhere). Pecan pie is back on the menu - Q should know it is not just a seasonal dessert!

Walked in and it was the GM's first day. He did an amazing job and assisted in anything we asked. The food was great as usual however the waiter was painfully slow. We sat without water for almost 30 minutes. Very glad we ordered an appetizer as the time between that and our brunch was probably 30 minutes as well. Would definitely go back as the food is always good and this GM will have the staff in order in no time.

Disclaimer: Q is a BBQ Restaurant, not a bbq joint, and we loved it! So many great appetizer choices, in addition to bbq entrees in various formats. Alligator tastes like Mediterranean chicken kabobs (not a bad thing), very glad it wasn't battered and fried as is typical. Phenomenal pork belly appetizer - love how it resembles steak. Kobe brisket was moist, despite not being fatty, definitely a generous portion of meat to drag through 4 sauces (absolutely loved the mustard sauce). Cornbread was too crumbly and couldn't taste the habaneros much. Last but not least - the unlimited bbq chips and sweet pickles - please hold me down, I can't handle it, and yes I will agree to refills when asked. Fantastic.

As usual, the food was great. The chicken was moist and perfectly seasoned, while the burger was full of flavor. Unfortunately, our server was somewhat sullen. He didn't crack a smile the whole night and he wanted us to order in a particular way. For example, rather than tell him what we wanted on our burger, he insisted we call it by the name used on the menu. How are diners supposed know the difference between the "q burger" and the "classic burger" when the menu doesn't explain it? And how are we supposed to remember it after the server rattles it off with a pained look on his face? Maybe he was having a bad night, but he sure didn't make our night any better.

Although service was fabulous and quicker than I had ever experienced, it was clearly due to the turn-over rate of tables. A busser was washing our table before we'd even gotten our bill. This is a definite hot spot with delicious food but for the prices you pay, the noise and the hustle ruined my dining experience.

My first time inside. Way too loud in the main dining room! The low ceilings must keep the sound in. The smaller dining room with higher ceilings is the place to dine. Or the bar area. Great patio in nice weather. Fabulous servers. Good food. Nice choice of bbq sauces. I'd go again and stay out of main dining room.

This was Southern-style food that would be right at home in Charleston, SC or similar. Fabulous pulled chicken and pork - right out of one of the multiple industrial-size smokers they have in back-of-house (our waiter brought us back for a kitchen tour!). Were crushed that we couldn't try the fried oyster Po'Boy since the oysters didn't make it on the delivery truck that day, but the blackened alligator hit the spot. We went quite early for lunch (11am) and on a Monday, so I can't speak for ambiance, but I loved the decor inside and was amazed with the amount of natural light. Definitely worth a visit, and worth the short trip from downtown!

From the moment I turned and the corner and spotted the restaurant across the street, I knew we had made the right decision by making the reservation. A quaint patio adorned the front of the building, lit artfully by 2 large patio heaters comprised of a 3 foot tall flame mirthfully dancing inside of a 6 foot tall glass cylinder. A good beer and wine list offered plenty of choices with which we quenched our thirst as we perused the ample menu. And what a menu it was! We dined as a group of 6, yet I wished we were more so I could actually try everything on the menu I desired! The ribs were fantastic, the brisket a treat, and each of the sides I tried were delicious. You will not be disappointed if this is your choice.
