I would not recommend this restaurant. Maybe for a drink. It was a nice atmosphere and good bar, nice decor and music. However, the menu has been scaled down severely, as well as the quality of food. The vegetables came out frozen, really? Manager apologized but didnt really offer to buy me a drink or give a small discount. But, our waiter was attentive and personable. Overall, the disappointing, over-priced, low-quality meal overshadowed the atmosphere. At least I can say I went there, because this place doesnt seem like it will be in business that long.

FOOD WAS GOOD. CAME HERE FOR TAPAS FOR MY BIRTHDAY, AND LOOKED AT THE MENU ONLINE BEFORE COMING TO THE RESTAURANT. WE FIND OUT WHEN WE ARE LOOKING AT THE MENU SITTING IN THE RESTAURANT THEY NO LONGER HAVE TAPAS, AND THAT THEY CHANGED THE MENU A WEEK PRIOR TO US COMING. I LOOKED AT THE ONLINE MENU ONE DAY BEFORE GOING TO.THE RESTAURANT. MENU ONLINE DIDN'T MATCH MENU IN RESTAURANT, AND THE MENU ONLINE WAS WHAT I WAS BASING MY BIRTHDAY PLANS OFF OF SOLELY BECAUSE I WANTED TO EXPERIENCE TAPAS. WHEN WE ARRIVED THE VALET MAN WAS RUDE AND WAS WHIPPING THE CAR AROUND LIKE HE OWNED IT. THEN WE HAD A VERY DIFFICULT TIME UNDERSTANDING OUR SERVER, AND AFTER ORDERING I FIND OUT THEY NO LONGER HAVE BONELESS WINGS. CANNOT SPLIT CHECKS, MADE US MANUALLY.

Great ambiance! Unfortunately the service was horrible from our waitress, however another staff member helped to expedite our orders. I would return again. The food was good, small portions because it's tapas. If your really hungry this isn't the place to eat lol. Drinks and music was great. Hostess was great.

We had reservation on 8/17/2012. It was loud like a sports bar, not quite what I expected in terms of a romantic dinner. When asked to be moved they were unable to accommodate us. The food was good and reasonable.

loud, inconsiderate, rude, empty The restaurant was empty of patrons when we arrived at 6 p.m. The music and voices from the televisions were so loud we couldn't talk to each other. When asked if the music could be turned down, we were completely ignored. My husband who needs a gluten free menu was given a curt response of "don't eat the chips". That's a little hard to do with hummus. Otherwise, there was no attempt to explain the menu or give him choices. Good thing we had a choice of several other restaurants nearby.

This was my second time to Purple Rain. The first time was on a Thursday, for a quiet dinner, but they have salsa lessons around 9 or so. Once that starts, the music is so loud, you literally have to yell to have a conversation with the person beside you. This time, I went on a Monday and it was very quiet. The ambiance is lovely and our server, Rosie, was fantastic. I'd highly recommend this restaurant for a quiet, romantic night. As long as you don't go on Thursday :p ;)

    Dined on 5/13/2012
Having never been to a Tapas style restaurant, this was surely something different. We were all greeted at the door & seated promptly and our server was quickly at the table. After asking us if we had been to a tapas style restaurant, she explained how to order our food. The drinks were inventive and very tasty. One-by-one our orders were brought to the table. Each one was ample size for 2 to sample and tasted as great as they looked. As suggested, those that we liked, we ordered more of. The cost per tapas was about $4. each, so the meal was very reasonable. From the lettuce wedge to the skewered meats, to the sumptous desserts, each was a feast for the eyes as well as the palate.

As we attended on Mother's Day, this was not the usual restaurant set up. But we'd made reservations for 11:30, however we got to sit and wait until almost 12:15 to get food as they were still setting up until then. We were not the only ones there, the restaurant had many families sitting and waiting, which in turn became a mad dash for food once the buffets were opened. Not sure what it's like on a normal day, but no one of any authority even came out and address the seated customers to apologize for the delay, just that small touch would have been nice.

  • Meh....
    OpenTable Diner Since 2008
    Dined on 4/25/2012
Our family went to Purple Rain on a weekday evening. There were three occupied tables when we walked into the enormous restaurant/lounge at 8:00. We started off with four tapas: risotto fritti, brie wontons, chicken satay, and the avocado cloud. The risotto fritti and chicken satay came with three pieces each, the brie wontons with four. Unfortunately, none of the dishes were sufficiently seasoned. The satay sauce needed more complexity (fish sauce, brown sugar.) The risotto fritti needed salt. The bland, whipped, avocado "cloud" was just okay. We decided not to explore the other tapas on the menu and chose to quit while we were ahead (price-wise.) We went somewhere else for our entrees. Too bad, because we wanted to like the place.

The food was fair at best... Nothing special. Our server was training and forgot items ordered and brought wrong ones. She then diss appeared and did not return to our table for over 30 minutes. Another server saved the day as we transitioned into the lounge and gave great service. It's a great place for people watching the very diverse crowd. It would also seve well to a bridal or baby shower.

This is a good restaurant. The set-up for Valentine's Day was very nice. Everything was as promised; the reservation was correct, the food was tasty, flower delivery very good, complimentary photo was a bonus to remember the night, lve piano was outstanding during dinner. My point of improvement would be that the staff was trying too hard to present this as more of an dining experience than it actually was. We will be back, it was that good.
