A word from Purple Palm at the Colony Palms Hotel
Above all else, the food at the Colony Palms Hotel is beyond anything the Coachella Valley has ever experienced.

Situated in the magnificent courtyard of the Colony Palms Hotel, the restaurant design evokes the glamour of the 1930’s and 40’s when the Colony Palms was “the” place to be seen in Palm Springs. Amazing food, stunning decor, mountain views, and gracious service…what more can be said?

Although a lovely restaurant, the decor is in much need of updating. The chairs are uncomfortable and the bench seating is too low. Additionally, the acoustics produce quite an unacceptable noise level from surrounding tables.

A great restaurant at the Colony Palms Hotel. The service was excellent and while waiting for my friends I was highly entertained by the bartender. The food was delicious. I had the beet salad with goat cheese and salmon. They did run out of short ribs but overall an excellent evening.

We arrived for a 7:30 reservation and were seated at a very dark table table next to the pool. It's a cool space at night - feels old-time Hollywood. It's a relatively expensive restaurant so I expected a bit more. I had the octopus as the appetizer and it was a little difficult to find the actual octopus in the middle of the other components of the dish which could have used a little editing. We were never offered bread - eventually - when our main course came we had to ask for bread and they brought over two different kinds of rolls (exactly two). We never had a second glass of wine because no one came back to ask if we would like another one. My fish (I believe it was branzino) was almost $40 - yet it was just a few pieces of very overcooked fish (to the point of being chewy) and it was barely warm. The only interesting dish on the dessert menu was the bread pudding - which we were informed they had already out of!! For me this was a typical hotel restaurant - overpriced with mediocre food and service. Disappointing as we had a meal the night before at Citron - also in a small Palm Springs Hotel - and it was phenemenal. These guys here at the Purple Palm need to step up their game.

This is a great restaurant for Brunch, Lunch or Dinner. I have had a great breakfast here poolside solo. They have an amazing hamburger on the lunch menu and some great salads. I have had a great dinner where with friends, the Roasted Chicken and the Spanish Octopus were highlights.

The service was extremely poor. My wife and I felt as if we were intruding our waitress while we were there. We were never offered any bread with our meal and we were ingnored, which ruined our meal!!!! We will consider if we return to this establishment in the future????😣😣😣😣

What a find! Beautiful atmosphere, great service, incredible food! Incredible combo! The only complaint was the table location and everything else made up for it. Prices were also a little higher than I expected for $$, but again I still fully recommend trying this establishment.

On August 20, 2014, I made a reservation at the Purple Palm for Saturday evening, October 11, 2014. At 11:10am on October 11, I was contacted by Daniel (760-969-1818), informing me that my reservation was being cancelled due to a private event (wedding) taking place that same evening. When I expressed my amazement & utter dissatisfaction to Daniel, he simply repeated that they were sorry for the "inconvenience," but sometimes "these things happen." I asked him to find me an equivalent dining reservation for that evening, & he assured me he would speak to the General Manager (Brent?) & see what could be arranged. Needless to say, I never heard back from anyone. Clearly, the attitude was one of indifference, if not contempt. EPIC FAIL!

I have dined at the Purple Palm and the place just keeps getting better! The food served during my last visit was uniformly outstanding. One of my guests is a professional chef who is seldom pleased at PS restaurants but he loved his meal and the ambience. Our waiter was very knowledgable and friendly but a little disorganized. As it was mid week night in the off season the restaurant was pretty empty. I'll be back!!!

This was an unexpected pleasure. Generally I don't consider hotel restaurants to be worth the time but the Purple Palm is an exception. Our meals were very flavorful and well presented plus we really enjoyed the Pasta of the Day as an appetizer. The gazpacho was excellent also I am told. Service was excellent and we had the option of dining inside or outside. Very good! I would recommend.

We live in Palm Springs and we just came back to town. We wanted to check out the new design of the Purple Palm. Martin Lawrence Bullard did an excellent job with the cool wall paper. It looks great! However, the service was so poor and slow for not a very busy night. The food quality was good but the service will keep us from coming back. Our waiter was nice but he seemed over whelmed with tables. The manager walk by several time but never engaged to help his over whelmed waiter. The host stood at the front door with no one coming in. There was a lot of help but no one seemed interested in the customers. We waited forever to pay the bill and I final had to get up and ask the host if he could process the payment. Very Sad...

Great decor. Great service. Food was good with some minor issues. Wine was served too warm. Octopus was tough. But overall pretty good food for Palm Springs. We were there early on a Saturday night and the noise level went from quiet (and romantic) to painfully high (and annoying). I might try it again early on a weekday night to see if the noise level is more acceptable.

An experienced host, good service and a great meal are what you can expect at the Purple Palm. The Moroccan atmosphere of the hotel spa is carried into the dining room. The hotel and restaurant are a class act without any outdated-nostalgia or over sentimentality. I have dined here twice in June , each time with the same welcomed professional service. The Ambiance was inviting from the hot Palm Springs air. The service was friendly and professional . The food recommendations were honest on both what they thought for the night and what we described as wanting. As my friend is a vegetarian, they were accommodating with side dishes from all entrees, not just an assortment of vegetables, the chef has a flair.... The salads were crisp. the steak and lobster special divine and our waiters wine choice great.. Tucked away from the downtown area it is a little hard to find , but well worth it....
