Diner Reviews
  • "Just as good as the other locations. This one however is more compact and loud do to the space and all the concrete. I could barely hear my company."

  • "Gorgonzola stuffed dates, calamari, steelhead, lamb chops and mini creme brûlée. Everything was perfect, seasoned well and cooked just right. We brought a nice bottle of wine and there was no corkage fee (free on 1st, $15 per bottle after; can't be on their wine list though)."

  • "I love the food and wine at Purple, but the parking situation is getting quite out of hand. On this occasion we had to park in a lot that had an unlit dirt path leading to it from behind the building. If you want great food without the parking hassle, I recommend the Bellevue or Kirkland Purples."

  • "Our three course meal special was delightful - well repaired and well-resented. My steelhead was delicious and moist, my husband's meatloaf with mushrooms declared a winner. Our server was attentive and welcoming even though she was busy both indoors and out. The teamwork here is evident. The noise level is for us the only weak pint. Carrying on a conversation requires a loud voice. On the other hand, everyone seemed to be having a great time. This is a favorite for us."

  • "We always enjoy visiting Purple. It is a bit pricey, but oh what great food and wine!! Definitely recommend it for date night!!"

  • "THis is our second time to celebrate a birthday. My sisters and my 94 year old Dad have found this place to be a gem. The waitress was great both times. She gave us time to chat, eat and open gifts. We will continue to go here to celebrate our birthdays.. Their back room with the wall of candles is an intimate and very private place to be with friends and family.."

  • "We made a reservation for Friday evening and then had an earlier event inturupted by a phone call requesting us to confirm our reservation. The call was made over an hour before our reservation to be there. My husband excused himself to return the call for fear our table would be given away. Do they not honor the reservation made via Open Table?"

  • "The Purple Café in Woodinville has the charm of great restaurants that tend to spring up in wine country. The décor was country-charming. The food, great; the service, competent and friendly. This is a restaurant that I would gladly go back to."

  • "Special occasion didn't disappoint. Great service. Loved the fireplace table."

  • "I took a client last week to a celebratory birthday lunch. Our food was excellent, our server courteous, attentive & unobtrusive. I can always rely on Purple to impress in a quiet way. Thanks!"

  • "this is an excellent restaurant that is essentially pricing itself out of the market. we had an excellent meal lunch for 3 people no alcohol and it cost over $80 with tip a little over $30 per person that is over priced in my view for a sandwich and fries or a salad and soup. We will only return on very special occasions"

  • "I've been coming to Purple for years. The food is great and so is the wine. Service never disappoints. The only drawback is that it can get a little loud sometimes."

  • "I had a friend coming from out of the state. I chose your restaurant to show her the wine country and the quaintness of Woodinville. She was very impressed and next time she is town for business she would like to bring her family with her and enjoy the area."

  • "This was our first time at the Purple Cafe and Wine Bar in Woodinville, and it was a perfect choice for a very special occasion. I made the reservations the night before using OpenTable, and I am glad I did since the place was packed, but we were taken right to our table without a wait. We each chose one of the three-course fixed price menus and could not have done better. The meal, the wine, and the service was outstanding. We truly had a lovely evening and look forward to coming again."

  • "We had great appetizers after wine tasting in Woodinville."

  • "The food was great as always but I thought the service was a bit slow. it was an uncrowded weeknight and there seemed to be a long lag between waitress visits. It took about 20 minutes to get the bill, pay for it and get the check returned to us for signature."
    Dined on 2/17/2014
  • "This is a great spot where you can find good food and drink. This restaurant allows you to reconnect with that special someone if it's been awhile since you've had a date night, even if you're married like us. You can never go wrong with a date night when you know the food you are being served is fresh and has been prepared well."

  • "We made our reservation online and arrived at the Woodinville site with our reservation in hand. HOWEVER, there was NO record of our reservation on the computer at the Woodinville restaurant. It was explained that (1) we would be taken care of and seated (and we were!), and (2) it was not our fault but the fault of the online reservation process. Please repair this! We love that place, plan to go back many times and will again find it very convenient to be able to make reliable online reservations."

  • "I am a huge fan of all of the Purple Cafes...Kirkland, Woodinville and downtown Seattle. The food and wine are awesome, service is usually great, scene is hip and happenin'. This is not a place to go for a quiet conversation as the restaurants are "cavernous", cold and the chairs give you an upper body workout when you move them. In spite of that, it is one of my fav restaurants and I love to go there with friends. While not very scenic, I love the outdoor dining at Kland and W'ville locations."

  • "Purple had amazing specials ready for Valentine's Day, in addition to their already amazing regular menu. Our server was friendly, efficient, and checked back with us just the right amount. I highly recommend Purple, at any of their locations."

  • "Not sure what has happened to the Purple in Woodinville, but the food is not very good especially for the cost. The last three times I've eaten there the food was average at best and boring. Many years ago they had a pork tenderloin with a reduction sauce that left your mouth watering! The Tillicum salad was flat not because of the apples, walnuts and Tillicum cheese but the mixture of greens were wilted and non flavorful. The Crab Mac and Cheese was dried out. Our server was outstanding along with the other staff. We will not be going back for dinner but maybe the Happy Hour."
    Dined on 2/12/2014
  • "Waitress was very friendly and even changed one of the wines in our sampler (wrong phrase) so that we could get one special one we wanted. Meal was delightful Medium Upscale (jeans and nice shirt ok) - good for not an every day occurrence, but yet doesn't have to be a only once or twice a year place either."

  • "Meeting old friends and this was a perfect choice. Food was good and the service was amazing. We will go back."
    Dined on 2/10/2014
  • "Purple was as discussed by friends. Large menu, pleasant service, decent food and a good spot to "fuel up" prior to tasting wine. Not recommended for Foodies, this restaurant is dependable for lunch."
    Dined on 2/8/2014
  • "Salads were fresh, creative and delicious! We had dates stuffed with goat chese for our appetizer -very good. It was a great place to meet some old friends for dinner. Pass on the calamari it was good but not great."

  • "It was very busy, but it took a very long time for our waitress to take our order and bring us a glass of wine. We were there to visit and catch up so it was not really a problem, but could have been. The menu includes starters, sandwiches, salads and entrees that pair well with their amazing wine selection. I will definitely go back."

  • "We split appetizers and an entree, chicken Marsala. Probably the worst chicken Marsala we have had. The Marsala sauce almost seemed to come out of a package what little there was of it. Chicken was ok but pretty dried out. We enjoyed the Bruschetta and the olive tapenade spead. Not a memorable evening."

  • "The food was exceptional, as always. There is an amazing variety of textures and flavors in their meals. Love it!"

  • "I know the Purple is famous for their outstanding wine list and great food, but I had no idea I could get a hamburger there. It was the best hamburger I have ever had, hands down."
    Dined on 1/15/2014
  • "Even though we were basically sitting on top of the parking lot, the food and wine were distracting enough that we hardly noticed. I had probably the best chicken salad I have ever eaten."

  • "Whenever we take a trip to or through Woodinville, we stop at The Purple Cafe for a special dinner. It never disappoints us. Everything tastes incredible and the service is always excellent too. Monday night was no exception. We all raved about our dinners and left feeling we need to return sooner next time."

  • "A favorite in the area, it is always a wonderful experience at the Purple Cafe! Classy decor with iron chairs/napkin rings and the rock walls with integrated votive candles adds to the warm ambiance. The wait staff was attentive but not intrusive. Our table for 3 had the risotto, Italian wedding soup and meatloaf. Each was impeccably prepared. Never a disappointment when dining here! Great find after a day of wine tastings."

  • "Tried a couple of new, or first time, menu items and was not disappointed. The Prawns and Fries were awesome, Brie always great and I chose a Pasta Broccoli dish that was fantastic. Very tasty! We'll be back!"

  • "Service was very good but food-steak was kind of salty."
    Dined on 12/15/2013
  • "All 3 in our party found the food was outstanding and the service even better! We ordered the Chicken Marsala, the pasta special and the Fig Pizza- nothing left on any of our plates! Our server (Lissa) was excellent!!!!"

  • "We were attending a wine tasting event later in the evening so we just ordered starters and a glass of wine each. My husband had the calamari and I had steamed clams. Both were excellent. We shared several spreads which were served with flatbread and crackers. Again, very good. Although the food is excellent, we feel that the service is what really puts this restaurant "over the top". We have also had dinner and been very pleased. Overall, a pleasant experience at a reasonable price. We will return when we visit Woodinville."
