I know that it is a wine bar, but wish that they would have a better option for those of us that prefer Vodka. I love the atmosphere and dined with wine consumers, so should not feel like I cannot get a good vodka martini. Overall a wonderful experience and good atmosphere. Excellent staff and location.

Service is friendly, attentive, and prompt-but not intrusive. I have the cranberry chicken salad. While it is pricey ($15), the portion was generous and very tasty. My friend had the special pasta dish, and enjoyed that as well. While it is noisy, you can still talk. Very convenient to businesses downtown.

I took my two grown daughters to dinner the other night. My husband and I discovered this gem last month and I was eager to go back. We all enjoyed the idea of ordering wine flights to compare various wines. The waiter even customized one for my daughter who wanted to try a mixture. We ordered the Artisan Cheese board to go with it. We almost died of pure culinary joy. We would have been satisfied with just that. But our entrees were excellent as well. And our server was very attentive and accommodating. He even gave my daughter a tour of the wine room (which is a big cylinder in the middle of the restaurant that goes up several stories) since she's a designer and was curious about it. The place is a bit pricey but its worth it. A great find for an occasional splurge. You won't be disappointed!

Excellent food! Had the Purple Chopped Salad and a Apple (soaked in Calvados)- prosciutto -cream cheese starter! Wow! Then Lobster Mac and Cheese and Seafood Stew! Excellent! And pear sorbet with cranberry compote and chocolate trifle ended it all off. Pheasant's Tears wine was superb and our waitress was super in every way. A great start for a concert night!

We always thoroughly enjoy ourselves at Purple. We were very pleased to be served by someone who has served us in the past. She is pretty great. As was our food. Both seem to be consistent with this restaurant. All the staff appear very personable. All the food is consistently tasty. We were going to the symphony after dining. The timing on the food was perfect. Not rushed - yet, appropriately timed for our consumption with ample time to get to our destination. As always - thanks for a lovely evening.

We picked the Purple Cafe Seattle for our anniversary dinner this year. The service was polite and knowledgeable. We know very little about wine but found out that our waitress had a lot of experience in this area. She helped us with our selection and quickly came up with a bottle of Italian wine that matched our budget so well that we were able to order appetizers, entrees, and a dessert. Everything was cooked perfectly and my taste buds went hyper-active over the chicken pesto. The portions were perfectly sized for satisfaction. I think the waitress enjoyed serving us as much as my wife and I enjoyed a great dinner. It was the best anniversary dinner in a long time. Love and joy was in the air. Thank you for a great nite out.

We always stay at the Monaco and walk past Purple all the time. We thought we'd stop for drinks and appetizers one trip and the hostess made us wait for a table for almost 20 minutes while more than 2/3rds of the tables were empty. We ended up just leaving. Gave them another chance for dinner and had great appetizers, wine and dinner.

We were 25 mins late for our reservation due to worse than usual traffic. The hostess still seated us right away and inquired if we had to be anywhere at a certain time. We did have an event at 7 PM so the service was very timely. We have been to the Purple Wine Bar in Woodinville and enjoyed it, but the downtown Seattle location is a big step up in atmosphere. The food was very good. We ordered a cheese flight, wine flight and two. entrees to share. The waitress offered to have the entrees split for us which we greatly appreciated (with no surcharge). We had the lobster roll and fisherman's stew. The stew was my favorite. We will definitely return. They have wine flights and a very extensive wine list. The dessert menu was very appealing, so I would definitely recommend this for an after theater drink/dessert pick.

I didn't want to write a public review, but was forced to here. I just wanted the management to know that the front desk people ignored us. People should at least look at you and say "be with you in a moment" instead of just dealing with one party and totally ignoring someone standing right in front of them. but then, that is so "Seattle," not the best manners in the world. The waiter was fantastic though, so that kind of made up for it. Portions are tiny and overpriced. But tasted great. Bread served beforehand wasn't great, tasted and looked like it came from Target down the street in a pinch. Sorry, was not impressed on this occasion:-( Food is good though.

Took my man here for our third year anniversary. We were warmly welcomed at the door and congratulated on our anniversary. Our server, congratulated us on our anniversary too then surprised us with champagne on the house! The food was outstanding: We had the mussels to start, then I had the lobster mac and cheese and my guy had the scallops. The service was impeccable. The definitely made us feel special on our special night. This was my second time here and it exceeded my expectations! Keep up the good work Purple Cafe and Wine Bar!!

We were in Seattle visiting our niece for a few days, and she recommended that we dine at Purple. We all (six of us) had a wonderful meal. We were impressed by the creativity of the dishes - and everything we had was delicious. Also, if you're into wine, they have a huge wine list, and our server was able to speak intelligently about the different choices. If we're back in Seattle again (we're from Philadelphia), I would definitely go back to Purple!

The food here was good, but not great. Not worth the price ($200 for just three people???). I had the pear and gorgonzola pizza and it was good. The baked brie appetizer was okay, but not the best that I've ever had. My friends had the lobster roll (okay, kinda dry) and the lobster mac & cheese (very good). The wine prices are just too high for so-so wines. Next time I'll stick with better food and a smaller wine list and more satisfaction.

Went to Purple to celebrate a friend's birthday. Reservation process was easy through OpenTable. But I have to say I've had better food at past visits. I had the Pick 2: spinach salad and squash pizzetta. Both were pretty flavorless. the pizzetta was downright bland. It had squash that seemed steamed and sliced, versus roasted. There was no seasoning on it. And it included something that thad the texture of frizzled onions, without any onion flavor. I like Purple and would return, but would stay away from these menu choices.

Four of us went to Purple cafe for dinner - two couples. We had our Opentable reservation and we're seated quickly despite the restaurant being quite full. Our service was excellent all evening. Our server was quick to offer the Som's services to assist us with our wine selection. CT came by as "the wine guy" and he was the most helpful and energetic wine guys we have ever met. I have been to this restaurant before but this night was just excellent for all of us. We had a great time and we will be back.

The lighting was too dark, and the chairs were insanely heavy. The clientele was mainly couples or groups of couples in suits and cocktail dresses. The hostess spilled water over the back of my chair (coat and purse) but didn't bring anything to dry them off. I ordered a full-size salad and although extremely tasty, it was the size of an appy. It wasn't filling in the least. The drinks were great and our waiter was well-informed on the food and drinks to make suggestions. I appreciated that at the bottom of the bill tip amounts based on 3 different percentages were already calculated for me - to save taking out the phone to do a calculation. Overall, I won't dine here again.

We were 10 min late for our dinner reservation and the hostess didn't even bat an eye! She said 'no worries' and then asked us if we were attending any shows that evening. I said yes and told her what time the show was.We were IMMEDIATELY shown to our table. The service was fantastic! We wanted for nothing! The server suggested a different wine than the one I had planned to order. It turned out to be one of the best white German wines I've ever had! I don't know how this restaurant stays in business. The wait staff are rude and the food isn't anything to write home about-especially at the prices. This was my third visit for lunch. The first time visit, I just thought maybe I was being too picky. Thought I would give it another chance and had the same experience. My friend had a job promotion so I let her pick the restaurant-so, I didn't protest. But, I should have. We were seated at table that was 12 inches away from the table next to us. We basically were in their conversation, and they were in ours. The food was tasteless. So sorry I didn't offer up another restuarnt for the celebration. I have learned my lesson and will not be back.
