This was our 4th time going to this restaurant. The goats cheese and honey appetizer was our favorite. We were quite dissapointed that it had been removed from the menu. Why would you remove the best thing on your menu!! As well my partner ordered the lamb meat ball pasta and it had a weird taste to it. We will be trying somewhere different the next time we return to Seattle.

We had an overall good experience, but found the restaurant a bit too dark, making it difficult to see everyone, or read menus easily. The food was good. The only steak returned was quickly replaced with another (different cut), that proved to be very good. Overall it was okay, but perhaps more for fun, lively bar scene than groups dining.

The servers tempo was way off; greeted early but asked for a few minutes; 10+ minutes later came back - we ordered drinks and first course with wine pairings. drinks came and then a few minutes later the apps came with pairings. there I was with a few sips of my Martini and apps with wine pairings???? give us a chance to finish our pre-dinner drinks!. We ordered our mains; well 3 of the 4 of us did. The server didn't take all 4 orders before darting away. Other service experiences, although not this bad, were also bad. friends who went hear also had bad service experiences.

I've always loved the various items that they have on their menu. Starters were fantastic, with the baked brie being a favorite. The calamari preparation is so good compared to the deep fried option of most restaurants. The salmon, duck, and seafood (fish) stew were enjoyed by all. Only negative was that the waitress disappeared after the main courses arrived and then another server provided dessert menus and the bill. But the service started out well. Still one of my go to spots.

This place was busy even on a Monday night. Very creative decor using a spiral staircase in the middle of the room to access the wine cellar. We ordered lamb tagine and fig gorgonzola pizza for our main dishes and found both to be full of great flavors. I have had their chicken salad entree in the past and think it is absolutely one of the best chicken salads I have ever eaten. We'll definitely be going back again.

Great food, creative menu, impressively extensive wine list. The service was impeccable. Up until the moment my wife almost broke her tooth against a metal nut (sic) that came with the salmon main course. The waiter summoned the person who appeared to be either a chef or a kitchen manager and who explained to us that the nut came off a certain part of their kitchen tool. The individual was 'kind' enough o take the cost of the salmon dish off the bill. Seriously??? The metal nut in our food well constituted at the very least a year of unlimited free dining. Stay away!

It was a busy Friday night but they are common is our reservation of six easily. I am disappointed they have updated the menu with different salad choices but only because I love their apple walnut salad which is no longer on the menu. My girls had the cheese pizza which tasted a little bit like Indian food. It was good but not to our children's taste. They were nice enough to remove that from our bill. My husband and I had cupcakes and a wonderful filet and a chop salad. That strawberry shortcake dessert was amazing.

I love the ambiance of this restaurant: nice but casual, modern yet comfortable. This is my second visit and came with three friends. We each had a different wine flight and were all happy with our choices. A lot of diversity on this wine list. We had the special of the day, a halibut dish with a sauce of local vegetables with a bit of spice that was truly special. Tried the grilled cauliflower appetizer which was unique and quite good. We ended with the sea salt caramels, creme brûlée and the waitress brought us a delightful port because she said we just needed it with the caramels. We were speechless and in bliss with our caramels and port. Truly divine and possibly the best caramel I have ever had.

We went for the wine list (any place with Jacquère, Rkatsiteli, Schiava, Teroldego, Liatiko and Vranec by the glass must be great, and the bottle choice is simply amazing) and the food also was great – almost impossible to choose what to have. I had an unusual calamari dish to start (with San Marzano tomatoes, Castelvetrano olives, chickpeas) that was delicious as was my wife’s Gorgonzola stuffed dates. We both had the duck breast with Swiss chard and smoked shiitake mushrooms that was divine. I ordered mine medium rare and my wife’s medium – and there was a difference! The place is large and was very busy on a Wednesday and the noise level was high – our only negative feeling, but not enough to spoil a wonderful food and wine evening.

Literally everything we had was delicious. We had two different wine flights, we started with the cauliflower and Brie. I Don't usually like cauliflower but it was delicious! The Brie was also fantastic. I had the seafood stew and it was also generously filled with plump shrimp and fish. My wife has the salmon and it was cooked to perfection. We passed on dessert because we were so full. No skimpy portions here! Can't wait to be back.

We dined here to celebrate my wife's birthday. I had noted the special occasion on my OpenTable booking and the hostess wished my wife happy birthday and seated us at a window table. The menu and wine list provided plenty of opportunities to try some great regional produce and we enjoyed both red and white Northwest wine flights, a glass of a Washington Gruner Veltliner and a Portland grappa. My grilled Wild King Salmon was perfectly succulent and my wife was impressed by the amount of lobster in her Lobster Mac And Cheese. A shared Cabernet-Chocolate torte (with birthday candle!) was a great end to the meal. The service provided by Tony was attentive, friendly and professional and we really enjoyed our visit to Purple Café.

We thought we were going to another restaurant and were surprised upon our arrival. The service was very good; especially the wine guy who truly knew his stuff. The food was good if not great. Unfortunately, the menu was not one that caused me to make choices between attractive options. I found myself choosing from a list of not so exciting selections that turned out to be quite good.

Our dinner was amazing and service first rate. Crab cakes to start with were outstanding ! Really could have been a whole meal !!We also had the Halibut special and the fish stew... All very perfect ! Only complaint was we did two wine flights and REALLY did not care for the Pinot flight. My husband ordered a single glass of wine later on that was very great, Our sweetest waitress imediately ,without us even mentioning anything removed the uncared for flight from our bill. Very thoughtful service. We will always make Purple Cafe a visit on our Seattle stops !

We used to love this restaurant and after spending almost $85 with tip for two salads and two glasses of wine, we left starving and disappointed. We sat for almost an hour before actually receiving food, and by the time we did, I couldn't believe how tiny my $30 salad with the smallest piece of over cooked salmon was. My other friend got the pork chop and it was so salty that it almost wasn't edible. I never give bad reviews but after this experience, I had to.

We had a fun dinner for a birthday here this week. Adults meals were almost all fantastic. Crab bad mushroom pasta was amazing, prawn appetizer is spicy and early big enough for an entree. Meatball pasta tasty too. But the lobster Mac n cheese leaves something to be desired. Way too rich and heavy and unfortunately this time with not enough lobster. Chopped salad and the apple cranberry chicken salad are delish. But my 6 yr old buddy had the chicken n fries and the grilled chicken was too salty for him. Had to douse it in ketchup to get it down him. Service was good, drinks awesome.

It was a pleasure to discover the Purple Cafe and Wine Bar and have to thank the 5th Avenue Theater for it's recommendation. The menu was not your run of the mill restaurant food and the flavor combinations were heavenly. The portions were just right, although I did take home part of my entree to enjoy the next day. Having lived in France we are used to fine dining and this ranks right up with our favorite French restaurants.

Met some locals here for dinner during our visit to Seattle, including one who works at their Kirkland restaurant. It was as good as advertised by our friends and the reviews I read beforehand. It was pretty noisy and a little difficult to hear with six people at the table. The food was outstanding but very pricey for the quantity served. Although my husband and i appreciate smaller servings, we decided to split the halibut. It was delicious, but seriously A very small serving for nearly $30. The wine list was extensive and expensive. All in all though, I would recommend it.

I am a foodie and was content with most of our food choices, however I wasn't "wowed" by it. I highly recconmend the lobster/crab cakes (can't remember which it was) as well as the quinoa salad. The cakes had a spot on fresh flavor with a perfect balance of richness. I don't recommend the margarita pizza, the breadcrumbs smothered on top were overwhelming taking away the majority of the pizzas flavors. Great spot to go with friends perhaps not a first date kinda place(a bit on the noisy side.) I would defiantly go back to Purple!

Starting with the service -- Our server was top notch. Nicole L had an excellent knowledge of wines. When we couldn't decide, she brought 4 tastes including our "thought." Nicole provided information on each and her favorite which is a nice add. Nicole assisted in our selection of the second glass of wine with thoughtful suggestions and information on each. Both wines were divine. At the end of our meal only finishing half due to the portion, a minor breakdown in communication from our side not her's, the doggie bags were not keep. The fix was a gift certificate to return and dine at Purple. WOW! The food -- For two foodies, it was fabulous!
