We had a party of 7 this past Saturday night for a Bachelorette dinner. Not only did the waitstaff and sommelier do a great job serving our group in a timely and courteous manner, but they separated the bill 6 ways without even batting an eye (a rarity for a group our size, I've found) and took a group photo of us on the spiral staircase to capture the feel of the evening. Have been to Purple many times before with excellent service and cuisine, but this experience stood out in how seamless and pleasant it was for us. I highly recommend!

Purple Cafe in Downtown was wonderful. I went with my aunt who was visiting from out of town. Everything we ordered was delicious. Between the two of us, we had the crab cakes, salmon with curried corn and onions, and the scallops in oxtail ragout. The service was perfect. Our server was always at hand when needed and quite knowledgeable. She helped us pick a bottle of wine that paired well with both of our dishes. I would highly recommend Purple Cafe to anyone that loves good food and good wine.

Was there with my wife and 2 and 9 years old kids. Great and tasty eclectic menu. Kids friendly (home made delicious Mac and Cheese and great real mozzarella with fresh basil kid pizza). Noisy but with kids, it's perfect :-) Not for a romantic get away but their food and wine list are a hit. The service is friendly and pro. I ordered a great Tuscan 2009 red wine (at $38 only, a steal :-) and they came and decanted it. It was great and needed to be decanted and I didn't need to ask for it. The ambiance is great and the decoration is just dramatic enough with the extra large bay windows, high ceiling and amazing central and circular wine cave. Take your time in looking at the wine card and may find a jewel like I did :-) Enjoy...

We have gone here for lunch in the past and really liked the food, service and wine list, this visit left us a bit disappointed...great service and wine, and food was just okay...friend had the Lobster Mac and Cheese which lived up to the reputation...both my husband and I had the steak ...not the best cut or seasoning, fries were soggy...felt a bit disappointed in recommending this to our friend visiting from out of town...maybe just an off night in the kitchen.

Our dining experience confirms all the previous positive reviews about this restaurant. The one caveat from my personal experience was the price vs the portion of the dish I ordered ( steak & frites ).The size of the steak was almost equal to the amount my husband had on his dinner salad, which one can has an option to add as a side for $6 extra. In other words, I was paying $19 for the fries by ordering an entree. Something's amiss---I could have ordered my own salad w/ steak & ordered a side of fries & I would have come out ahead food-wise . Other than that, the food is great & the service oustsanding.

No real complaints for this place. Food and service are all excellent and the wine selection, as one might expect for a wine-focused venue, is very good. It's difficult to pick a bad glass of vino. As for the menu, it has some real gems, especially on the starters such as the crackers and the filo pastry encrusted brie. The venue itself has what is probably a 30' ceiling with a central bar with a truly impressive corkscrewed wine rack as its centerpiece. The atmosphere, especially in the evening is vibrant - loud even (accentuated by the polished concrete floors). So great for a semi-formal dinner, eating out with friends. Probably worth a pass if you're looking for a venue which is intimate or romantic.

We did the food with parings. In one case I thought another pairing might have been better and mentioned to the server, she went back and got a quarter glass of what I thought would go better and brought it out to try. The glass she brought wasn't exactly what I'd thought would work better, but it was close. Their pairing was better. I like service like that.

My daughter recommended Purple Café to us and I was amazed at how much fun it was! The tower of wine bottles is most impressive, but the food and service was what we will remember. All of us had different entrees and they were all innovative and delicious. Our waiter made the evening a lot of fun with good wine recommendations and excellent service while not being overbearing. We will definitely be back!

Had a great meal at this place and our wait person was very much a pro. I highly recommend it. We had the lobster mac n cheese and the fish stew, both were great. Went with the special appetizer of locally sourced beets, blue cheese and walnut crumbles, wow, that was awesome. Finished with a cheese course, again, awesome...they pick your cheeses, do it with a nice chardonnay...very good. Most of the summer menu was locally sourced and we like that.

This was our 4th time going to this restaurant. The goats cheese and honey appetizer was our favorite. We were quite dissapointed that it had been removed from the menu. Why would you remove the best thing on your menu!! As well my partner ordered the lamb meat ball pasta and it had a weird taste to it. We will be trying somewhere different the next time we return to Seattle.

Obviously wine is the star here. They list a pairing with almost every dish. Our sommelier was extremely knowledgable and helpful. My calamari appetizer was perfect, served with bread to dip up all the delicious juices. Salmon entrée was okay, the sauce was too sweet for my taste. Another highlight, chocolate salted caramels for dessert.

We had an overall good experience, but found the restaurant a bit too dark, making it difficult to see everyone, or read menus easily. The food was good. The only steak returned was quickly replaced with another (different cut), that proved to be very good. Overall it was okay, but perhaps more for fun, lively bar scene than groups dining.

The servers tempo was way off; greeted early but asked for a few minutes; 10+ minutes later came back - we ordered drinks and first course with wine pairings. drinks came and then a few minutes later the apps came with pairings. there I was with a few sips of my Martini and apps with wine pairings???? give us a chance to finish our pre-dinner drinks!. We ordered our mains; well 3 of the 4 of us did. The server didn't take all 4 orders before darting away. Other service experiences, although not this bad, were also bad. friends who went hear also had bad service experiences.

I've always loved the various items that they have on their menu. Starters were fantastic, with the baked brie being a favorite. The calamari preparation is so good compared to the deep fried option of most restaurants. The salmon, duck, and seafood (fish) stew were enjoyed by all. Only negative was that the waitress disappeared after the main courses arrived and then another server provided dessert menus and the bill. But the service started out well. Still one of my go to spots.

This place was busy even on a Monday night. Very creative decor using a spiral staircase in the middle of the room to access the wine cellar. We ordered lamb tagine and fig gorgonzola pizza for our main dishes and found both to be full of great flavors. Great food, creative menu, impressively extensive wine list. The service was impeccable. Up until the moment my wife almost broke her tooth against a metal nut (sic) that came with the salmon main course. The waiter summoned the person who appeared to be either a chef or a kitchen manager and who explained to us that the nut came off a certain part of their kitchen tool. The individual was 'kind' enough o take the cost of the salmon dish off the bill. Seriously??? The metal nut in our food well constituted at the very least a year of unlimited free dining. Stay away!

It was a busy Friday night but they are common is our reservation of six easily. I am disappointed they have updated the menu with different salad choices but only because I love their apple walnut salad which is no longer on the menu. My girls had the cheese pizza which tasted a little bit like Indian food. It was good but not to our children's taste. They were nice enough to remove that from our bill. My husband and I had cupcakes and a wonderful filet and a chop salad. That strawberry shortcake dessert was amazing.

I love the ambiance of this restaurant: nice but casual, modern yet comfortable. This is my second visit and came with three friends. We each had a different wine flight and were all happy with our choices. A lot of diversity on this wine list. We had the special of the day, a halibut dish with a sauce of local vegetables with a bit of spice that was truly special. Tried the grilled cauliflower appetizer which was unique and quite good. We ended with the sea salt caramels, creme brûlée and the waitress brought us a delightful port because she said we just needed it with the caramels. We were speechless and in bliss with our caramels and port. Truly divine and possibly the best caramel I have ever had.

We went for the wine list (any place with Jacquère, Rkatsiteli, Schiava, Teroldego, Liatiko and Vranec by the glass must be great, and the bottle choice is simply amazing) and the food also was great – almost impossible to choose what to have. I had an unusual calamari dish to start (with San Marzano tomatoes, Castelvetrano olives, chickpeas) that was delicious as was my wife’s Gorgonzola stuffed dates. We both had the duck breast with Swiss chard and smoked shiitake mushrooms that was divine. I ordered mine medium rare and my wife’s medium – and there was a difference! The place is large and was very busy on a Wednesday and the noise level was high – our only negative feeling, but not enough to spoil a wonderful food and wine evening.

The Brie was also fantastic. I had the seafood stew and it was also generously filled with plump shrimp and fish. My wife has the salmon and it was cooked to perfection. We passed on dessert because we were so full. No skimpy portions here! Can't wait to be back.

We dined here to celebrate my wife's birthday. I had noted the special occasion on my OpenTable booking and the hostess wished my wife happy birthday and seated us at a window table. The menu and wine list provided plenty of opportunities to try some great regional produce and we enjoyed both red and white Northwest wine flights, a glass of a Washington Gruner Veltliner and a Portland grappa. My grilled Wild King Salmon was perfectly succulent and my wife was impressed by the amount of lobster in her Lobster Mac And Cheese. A shared Cabernet-Chocolate torte (with birthday candle!) was a great end to the meal. The service provided by Tony was attentive, friendly and professional and we really enjoyed our visit to Purple Café.
