Went to Purple to celebrate a friend's birthday. Reservation process was easy through OpenTable. But I have to say I've had better food at past visits. I had the Pick 2: spinach salad and squash pizzetta. Both were pretty flavorless. the pizzetta was downright bland. It had squash that seemed steamed and sliced, versus roasted. There was no seasoning on it. And it included something that thad the texture of frizzled onions, without any onion flavor. I like Purple and would return, but would stay away from these menu choices.

Four of us went to Purple cafe for dinner - two couples. We had our Opentable reservation and we're seated quickly despite the restaurant being quite full. Our service was excellent all evening. Our server was quick to offer the Som's services to assist us with our wine selection. CT came by as "the wine guy" and he was the most helpful and energetic wine guys we have ever met. I have been to this restaurant before but this night was just excellent for all of us. We had a great time and we will be back.

Tried to call the restaurant the day of reservation to add a person. Put on hold for 5 minutes then called back put on hold for 4 minutes so we decide to walk over and talk in person the hostess was not busy and saw her put a call on hold when we were talking to her. She never went back to that call either. Needs training. Food good our servers were very good very noisy probably will not go back.

The lighting was too dark, and the chairs were insanely heavy. The clientele was mainly couples or groups of couples in suits and cocktail dresses. The hostess spilled water over the back of my chair (coat and purse) but didn't bring anything to dry them off. I ordered a full-size salad and although extremely tasty, it was the size of an appy. It wasn't filling in the least. The drinks were great and our waiter was well-informed on the food and drinks to make suggestions. I appreciated that at the bottom of the bill tip amounts based on 3 different percentages were already calculated for me - to save taking out the phone to do a calculation. Overall, I won't dine here again.

I don't know how this restaurant stays in business. The wait staff are rude and the food isn't anything to write home about-especially at the prices. This was my third visit for lunch. The first time visit, I just thought maybe I was being too picky. Thought I would give it another chance and had the same experience. My friend had a job promotion so I let her pick the restaurant-so, I didn't protest. But, I should have. We were seated at table that was 12 inches away from the table next to us. We basically were in their conversation, and they were in ours. The food was tasteless. So sorry I didn't offer up another restuarnt for the celebration. I have learned my lesson and will not be back.

Had a great time at this place before a show at the 5th Ave. theatre. We split a cheese flight with wine pairings, the mussels and a pasta with duck ragu sauce. All were very good and the service at this place is outstanding. That's what really sets it apart.

I kind of forgot about Purple. It's been around a long time and isn't a sparkling new darling on the Seattle cuisine scene, but when we needed a place for dinner geographically friendly with Benaroya, we landed on Purple. It was easy to get a reservation, and upon first arriving we were struck by the energetic atmosphere and friendly service. The menu had enough innovative items to make it interesting and the execution was well done. This is no Altura, mind you, but it's a great place to go when you're downtown and want a well rounded dining experience.

We went to Purple Café for dinner, prior attending the "Kinky Boots" show at the Fifth Ave Theatre. We had the Pappardelle Pasta with Squash dish. Purple came highly recommended by several friends as a "must-see" while visiting Seattle, however, to us it was just average, nothing special. The crab cakes were not as good as some we had a couple of nights earlier. And the wine, recommended by the wait staff, was not that great either. So overall, definitely not worth the expense.

Purple was recommended for our visit to Seattle, pictures and the menu looked good, but what a let down. It's loud, which isn't a problem, but the table was so wide that we were almost yelling at each other. The wine tower is pretty, but the half open wine boxes left on the winding stairs just make it look sloppy. Our waitress had no idea about the wine list, was less helpful about the menu when the special was sold out and then she disappeared for 30min. Once we ordered the food arrived speedily. The crabcakes were good, but the kale caesar was over dressed & over seasoned, pizza was the worst I have ever had. I'm glad I didn't order duck because I'd hate to see what they'd do to it. Don't get suckered, there are so many better options.

We like to come here for lunch because the food is good but the one big drawback is that the service is not good. I do not think it's the waitperson's fault - I believe it's because they are short staffed in the kitchen. I just wish we could get in and out of there in an hour's time.

We had a group of five dining here before a show at the 5thbAvenue theater which is a short 5 minute walk away. Our waiter was cheery and effiecient. Some of us had the chopped salad which was delicious. The pasta was also very good. I had the filet which was unfortunately cold, but I did not send it back due to lack of time. The restaurant was every attentive however and our overall experience was very positive. The wine selection is extraordinary

The food was fantastic as was the wine. Our server did an excellent job recommending wines to pair with different foods and was especially helpful in identifying a wine for someone in our party who knew what she liked in a wine but not what to choose. She liked the selection so much she ordered a second glass. We definitely plan on returning and highly recommend the Purple Café and Wine Bar to those looking for excellent food and outstanding wines. It is a wonderful choice for those who are seeing a show at the 5th Avenue Theater given its close proximity.

Great food, server had great wine knowledge, liked the ambiance... but was way too loud for us. We couldn't even hear each other talk without feeling like we were screaming, especially when the table beside us was occupied. Maybe it was just a loud crown that night, but I would be willing to go again one day and hope that it is not so noisy, you never know. Overall great, other than that :)

I have been back to Purple Cafe countless times, though this last time I was not happy with some of their beer and wine prices. I think this place has crossed the line from upscale, expect it to be expensive, to ridiculous and now being abusive to their customers. $12 for a beer? Less expensive wine selections at $85? Not good, and it will negatively impact their return business. I will certainly reconsider before I decide to go back....

My boyfriend and I went to Purple for our anniversary. We had been here before and really enjoyed the pasta menu and wine specifically. It does get a little loud during the late hours. Our waitor was very attentive during the first half of our dinner but upon finishing our entrees it was a long time before we were checked on and brought the check. But with that said we had a lovely time and enjoyed the food and ambiance.

This restaurant was recommended to my husband and I early last year, but we chose the Pink Door instead..(Pink door is amazing as well!) We found Purple on the walk back to our hotel and decided to try it. What a fantastic experience! Our servers (wish I remembered their names) were amazing! Nearly everything on the menu has a wine pairing.. and we were allowed to share our pairing so everyone at the table had a few sips of the wine and we could taste/share everything! (We're all family) The wine pairings were yummy! The dates were awesome! The kale caesar was soooo good... and the Lobster mac & cheese was to die for!!!! Don't forget dessert: the salted-carmel pairing & PB cookie pairing were AAAMAZING! We will definitely return!

We had a party of 7 this past Saturday night for a Bachelorette dinner. Not only did the waitstaff and sommelier do a great job serving our group in a timely and courteous manner, but they separated the bill 6 ways without even batting an eye (a rarity for a group our size, I've found) and took a group photo of us on the spiral staircase to capture the feel of the evening. Have been to Purple many times before with excellent service and cuisine, but this experience stood out in how seamless and pleasant it was for us. I highly recommend!

Purple Cafe in Downtown was wonderful. I went with my aunt who was visiting from out of town. Everything we ordered was delicious. Between the two of us, we had the crab cakes, salmon with curried corn and onions, and the scallops in oxtail ragout. The service was perfect. Our server was always at hand when needed and quite knowledgeable. She helped us pick a bottle of wine that paired well with both of our dishes. I would highly recommend Purple Cafe to anyone that loves good food and good wine.
