  • "Great wine list, food well prepared , innovative and a lot of fun."

  • "Great food as always and the service was outstanding. We had a large party of 18 people and ended up in the private room, which made the dining experience that much more amazing."

  • "Used to love this restaurant but had a dreadfulmeal with an awful surly waiter and food that was not up to scratch. When we asked to speak to the 'new' manager we found out the reasonfor the decline: horrible little man who was rude and had his staff intimidated. The experience was so bad it ruined our evening so we just paid our bill and left, but in retrospect we wish we hadn't paid. Amazing how one bad new manager can ruin a good place"

  • "Very noisy, open environment. Food is consistent, service is good even if the staff seems to turn over a lot. Wine list is fantastic."
    Dined on 7/2/2014
  • "It was a great spot to have an informal, business meeting. We ate pizza, as the other options looked a little expensive."

  • "this place was perfect for our large group, delicious and varied food choices, interesting cocktails, great wine selection. a hit for all 14 of us"

  • "We got seated at the corner window, which has to be the best table in the place. Great people watching! My husband had the pork short ribs and really enjoyed them, but my choice was a special of gnocchi with morels and peas; simply stunning. Great wine selection, sommelier not irritating. Noise volume is something to think about, though, if you're looking for romantic conversation... this isn't it."

  • "The food at Purple is wonderful. There is a good variety so that if you are with a group everyone can find something they want to eat. The wine list is HUGE! I enjoy Riesling and many restaurants do not carry a very big selection but at Purple I actually had to decide from a list that must have had at least twenty options. The restaurant is quite loud so it may not be the best place for quiet conversation but I was still able to hear the people across the table from me. The waitress was helpful but when it came to a question about the wine she said she would get the wine expert but the way it was said and the length of time until he got there left us enough time to decide on our own and then place our whole order. I would come back."

  • "As expected. Been here many times before theater. Food good, wine list extensive and expensive. Noisy. Service OK."

  • "Great service, amazing food and sexy ambience! Flavors were bold and surprising. We had mussels in coconut curry, kale Caesar with steak and seafood stew. And it was a good-looking crowd that night, so tasties for the visual palate, too."

  • "Very interesting menu. Good kitchen. Rather loud. Not particularly well suited for larger parties."

  • "WOW!...we walked on a very busy Saturday night with Open Table reservations...warmly received by the hostess and taken back to a very quiet but active area in the restaurant...started with the salmon tartare and paired it with the wine suggestion...impeccable and professional pairing...my husband and I had the same evening special of King Alakan Salmon and enjoyed a glass of the suggested wine...SPOT ON FOODiE WINE experience...my husband enjoyed the strawberry rhubarb bar and we shared a large french press coffee!!! Overall incredible greeting, ambiance, service, food and wine!!!...just go you will not be disappointed...thank you a lovely last night in seattle!"

  • "The service was impeccable and the food was delicious. We arrived a little late to our lunch reservation and were quickly seated; as we had 5th Avenue Theater reservations. As we explained our situation and need for a quick lunch, our server was so helpful and suggested some menu items that could be prepared quickly. Our lunch was served to us within 10 minutes and we were able to make it to the Theater on time! Thank you!! We will be back!!"

  • "Walked in to the restaurant first followed by another group. The host proceeded to address the group that walked in after us, talking to them over our heads to help them to their table. Watch out for the host that ignores you --- speak up or you'll be left standing there!"

  • "We had a wonderful dinner (lobster mac and cheese, steak frites) and our terrific waitress tempted us with desserts. I enjoy port so she directed me to the chocolate treats paired with port. My husband opted for the chocolate mouse. My dessert was very good and the port was exceptional. However, when the mousse hit the table we both stopped breathing. The presentation was absolutely exceptional. Amazingly, eating the mousse was even better. The first bite simply melted in my mouth and slid down my throat. The flavors were incredible. My husband loves chocolate mousse and told our waitress that it was the best he had ever consumed. Kudos."

  • "Purple is a great place for a nice dinner out on the town. The appetizers were better than the main courses, the brie was phenomenal! We felt the maine dishes were small and a bit overpriced but still enjoyable. Deserts were good, the cheesecake is amazing but it is one tiny bit sized piece for $10 (a little steep). Overall a fun atmosphere for dinner and drinks."

  • "Staff was very pleasant and attentive. Food was good, wine list just so-so. They had a huge variety of wines but the selections by the glass were not notable. The gorgonzola stuffed dates were the best thing we ate. My husband had the pasta with meatballs and it was incredibly spicy. Mind you, we like spice but not prepared for the spice in the sauce. So much so, could only eat part of it. I had the mushroom pasta special. It was tasty though sauce was mostly just butter. Daughters had a chicken sandwich and hamburger, both of which they enjoyed."

  • "The waiter was friendly but got my clients salad Oder wrong, forgot the chicken, and only brought one of three drinks ordered. Asked two more servers for missing drinks, they brought one of the two, asked the waiter and another water server, still no third drink. Asked yet another person and finally got my diet coke. Enbarassing service at a very important client meeting. Not my typical experience here..makes me hesitate about taking clients here Karen"

  • "We had the corner window table overlooking Seattle's streets. Great people watching. The server was friendly and attentive. I tried the French wines for a change and they were excellent. The mussels and seafood stew were both excellent. Salted chocalate caramels with port is my favorite desert. Yum."

  • "Purple Cafe and Wine Bar is one of our favorite destinations in the Seattle area. We are always treated like royalty and provided with the best food in town. Even though we have our favorites, it is always fun to try a new dish so that you have the option of a new wine pairing that allows sampling from an exceptional wine list. Wine tasting, great food and above the board service are all part of a great evening every time. We have never been disappointed."

  • "Been awhile since we ate here so we came back and it was much as it had been in the past. A nice selection of menu items served up quickly and a good wine list"

  • "Had lunch on a Seattle-type cloudy, slightly rainy Sunday. Ambience was very warm and inviting for those conditions. We had the special which was pan-fried salmon with corn soubise and piquillo pepper coulis which was very good. The waitperson was very knowledgable. Definitely a repeat on future trips to Seattle."

  • "Took my family to Purple Cafe (downtown Seattle) for a graduation dinner and couldn't have picked a better spot. Food was fantastic with options catering to the diverse palate of my family, from foodies like myself (Calamari, lamb and prosciutto meatballs) to the meat-and-potato diet (filet mignon, chicken w/ pasta). Excellent service, great ambience, and I'd highly recommend Purple Cafe."

  • "Went to Purple last Wednesday evening. First they had no record of our Open Table booking - which we proved we had on our cell phone. When we were finally seated, one friend ordered the daily special, which was a halibut dish. "Sorry, we ran out." (This was at 7:30!). Then she ordered a salmon dish. "Sorry, we ran out." (Really, I think you need to order more seafood!). So then she ordered a pasta dish with shrimp. They actually had shrimp! - but they didn't deliver it. She got her pasta, and it took 20 minutes before her shrimp was delivered, after our reminder, but by that time the pasta was cold. And the server just didn't care. On a good note, my seafood stew (yes, they actually had seafood for the stew!) was excellent."

  • "Purple Café is one block from 5th Ave. theatre and parking next door is discounted. OK, enough about the perks. I has reservation and no wait time. Staff very friendly and provided me with a sample of a paired wine with the brie - all was delicious! Our party of 3 enjoyed both soups offered, a steak meal, seafood stew and chicken/apple salad. Ambience focuses on their wine selection proudly displayed in the 2 story bar area in the center of the restaurant which also has balcony seating. Main floor seating is noisy but once you get used to it and 'get in the groove', the vibrant downtown restaurant has all you could ask for (including the large people-watching windows) at reasonable 'downtown' prices."

  • "Service was slow , it took way too long to bring the food to the table after ordering , took too long to bring bill and charge card"

  • "I booked this with my two best girlfriends before we caught opening night of Porgy & Bess at the Fifth Avenue. We were able to park underneath and waiter was kind enough to validate our parking for $5! Food was fabulous, wine was wonderful, server was attentive and we had plenty of time to eat, drink and take a short walk up the hill to the theatre. I would recommend this to anyone who has a special occasion with friends. When we walked back after 10pm, it looked like it was even more lively. The ambiance is lovely with candles all around, warm and inviting."

  • "Purple Cafe was great for lunch. They were very accomodating to my special requests and handled my "salad makeover" with grace."

  • "We enjoyed wonderful wine and delicious appetizers with friends. A highlight was that they decanted the wine - nice touch. The chairs are cushy, but a little high off the floor for a shorty like myself, otherwise, a nice, vibrant atmosphere, and a great location. Love that they help a little with the parking cost."

  • "Great food, really recommend spicy prawns and frites for the appetizer then the Maine lobster baked Mac & cheese also the painted hills burger was so juicy ! Wine pairings were fabulous and sea salt caramels were delicious. The service was quick and friendly, food was ready and prepared to perfection. Would recommend to anyone! "

  • "We were just blown away by how fantastic both the service and the food was! The menu was wonderful and very diverse! Lot's of options price wise which was great for a group! We had never been to the restaurant before and did not know what to expect. The wine list was fabulous and again there were great options price wise. We chose a rose that was moderately priced and terrific! The service was perfect in every way! We are super picky foodies and this restaurant got a 10 out of 10 from us:) Can't wait to return!"

  • "When reviewing this restaurant, it would be hard not to include to word excellent in every sentence. The ambiance is rich and intriguing for special occasions but casual enough for just a night out. The wine selection is impressive and they offer the incredible idea of the wine samplers. The food was remarkable for the appetizers to the main dish. The wait staff was very prompt and polite. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone in the Seattle area!"

  • "Really enjoyed heading to Purple after a show at the Paramount. Food service was quick and our dishes were very tasty and interesting. Did not thoroughly enjoy the Rosé tasting flight, my bad for not noticing it included a sweet and a bubbly. Our waiter was not particularly knowledgeable or charming, but we entertained ourselves and enjoyed the ambience and the food."

  • "My wife and I dined here on our trip to Seattle. We had a nice time and an enjoyable experience at the Purple Café. I guess the one disappointment was the selection of wines from the state of Washington. Since we were in Washington, a place I think has a lot of great wines at very good prices, I felt like the selections were somewhat limited. Maybe if you are from Washington though, you want wines from somewhere else. "
