  • Pork chops to die for...

This was our second trip to Purple and we again had a very enjoyable meal overall. My wife ordered the pork chop with savory apple fritters…which sounds a bit odd but was simply delectable. The crab cake appetizer and the beef tenderloin crostini were also very good. I had the lamb and salumi bolognese with fresh pappardelle...which was very good but I wouldn't necessarily recommend or order on a repeat visit as it was just a bit to heavy for me in the end. We will be back. Cheers!

  • A Mixed Bag
    SDF1FANS

This was a total mixed bag for our double date. We were seated and asked for drinks/appetizers quickly. The calamari arrived very promptly. First Mixed Bag: It was horrible - rubbery, no flavor - perhaps it was ready to go for another table and they cancelled - unacceptable. Our salads arrived quickly and were delicious. Drinks (lemonade and water) were always full. Second Mixed Bag: Our entrees took forever to arrive - had great dinner conversations but also had plans afterwards that I had to push back. The entrees were universally loved but the delay left NO time for dessert. Arrived at 18:45 and were asking for a check at 20:30 - entirely too long especially after bringing out the appetizer so quick. A complete mixed bag for us.

We just got a bad waiter and my food was not good. We took our employees out for lunch for restaurant week. One of our gals order never got put in and we have to ask for her soup. Than her meal never showed up. Did not comp meal say how sorry they were ect. SLOW service. My BLTA was bacon and bread. A tiny piece of lettuce and tiny piece of tomato. I did not even eat half of it. He brought the check after a long wait and I had to ask for desert. It took 4 min to get menus that let and did not come back. I finally got up and went into the back to find him and tell him we were done and I wanted check. He said Oh you dont want desert. I told him we did but we cannot wait any longer. We had been there for an hour and 45 min for a lunch.

the purple has changed some of its recipes (hate change but it was good). it was a pleasant evening with a friend. the portion was smaller but it was really enough. the salmon was excellent cooked medium rare to perfection. the malbec was good. the waiter, Paul, was efficient, friendly, not intrusive and his gentle joking added to the dinning experience. the environment was fabulous as ever, always feel like i'm in a movie.

I had the king salmon lunch entree priced at $28 and was expecting a lot more by the description, which indicated two vegetables (summer squash and curried sweet corn)--even confirmed with the waitress, since I've experienced before a disappointing preparation incongruent with the menu description. Instead, there was a small portion of salmon on a bed of julienne vegetables, surrounded by a puree of squash and oil. This was hardly satisfying, especially for the inflated price, and so I asked the waitress for a side portion of risotto. She readily obliged but then charged $6 for a small bowl. No apologies for the presentation at all! Will not be back to this restaurant and suggest you too consider other options when in the Seattle area.

We went to Purple upon request by my daughter as her last meal at home before leaving for college - she HAD to have Lobster Mac and Cheese. We decided to treat ourselves to a starter and she chose the Beef Tenderloin Medallions. O.M.G. We almost cancelled the rest of our dinner and ordered more of that. AMAZING! But we persevered and managed to stuff ourselves with the main courses and made room for a shared desert as well. At the end of the evening we agreed it was one of the best overall meals we have ever had!

Visited Purple for the first time. Won't be our last. The concept of the flights is superb...we got to taste a variety of bubbly and red wines...all do which were unknown to us but were excellent. The servers were very knowledgable regarding the wines and made excellent recommendations. We had the baked Brie appetizer which was perfect for 4 to share. Dinner was the crab cakes, spicy shrimp, grilled asparagus, and the grilled cauliflower. Plenty of food for both of us with leftovers to boot! Each dish was prepared to perfection!!! Dessert was the German chocolate brownie with ice cream and the salted carmels. Plates were licked clean....need I say more??? We will definitely be back.

Don't expect to leave anything on your plate when you eat at the Purple cafe. The food preparation is creative as well as tasty. The use of vegetables, spinach in the potato salad, carrot curls on the Mac and cheese, adds taste treats as well as visual appeal to the food. Portions were ample, meats were seasoned nicely, the ambience was casual,neighborhood-friendly.

This was our first time here and we really enjoyed ourselves. The location wasn't the best, but once inside you could sorta forget you were in a strip mall type of environment. The outdoor seating was basically on the parking lot/driveway so we sat inside. Our waiter was a little slow at first but by the end of the meal he was doing great. The food was very good. My wife had a BLTA sandwich and said it was one of the best she have ever eaten. I had wild boar ragu on pappadelle and it was excellent. As first timers, they comped us on a desert which was very nice. All in all a good experience.

Kale salad under dressed so very dry and chewy. Cauliflower soup showed promise but served on the underside of warm. Chicken with Marsala sauce very tasty and well prepared. Service was noticeably poor from strange server (stoned?), to disinterested person serving food (not server) to person wandering around to clear dishes and fill water but not doing it. Took advantage of half price wine night. Solid Malbec for $17.00. Purple has potential but on this night it was at best average.

The service was good, but we were very disappointed about the food. I ordered the pumpkin ravioli; the flavor was good, but it was drowning in oil, which made it messy and somewhat oily. My husband had the basil pesto pasta, which was also too oily. My daughter had the fresh grilled asparagus; that was also too heavy in oil. I do not recommend this restaurant.

One thing I appreciated very much was the choice of music played and the appropriate level of it and speaker quality. When conversing, the music was not noticeable. when not speaking, I would notice the music, be intrigued by the selection and soothed by the quality of the sound. We thoroughly enjoyed our post-symphony early evening dining experience at Purple in Kirkland. We prefer this quieter location over the more hip and busy Bellevue restaurant. The menu is amazing and so varied, but we always seem to end up ordering from the Prix Fixe menu as it is so good and a great bargain! My husband loves the steamed clams starter, and I am in heaven with the calamari, so tender and spiced just right. The main courses of chicken marsala for my husband and lamb ragu for me were wonderfully prepared and presented, but the dessert is always the best! The sea salt caramels to die for, and my husband is raves about his german chocolate cake!

Had a nice French sauvignon blanc for $12. Not a huge pour, so really had to sip that one to make it last. Had arugula and quinoa salad. Maybe too much quinoa and not enough larger vegies cut up in it. Was very homogenous looking, not the most tempting thing to eat.

Great server who was there when needed but did not interrupt our conversation!
