Diner Reviews
  • "This was our first time here and we really enjoyed ourselves. The location wasn't the best, but once inside you could sorta forget you were in a strip mall type of environment. The outdoor seating was basically on the parking lot/driveway so we sat inside. Our waiter was a little slow at first but by the end of the meal he was doing great. The food was very good. My wife had a BLTA sandwich and said it was one of the best she have ever eaten. I had wild boar ragu on pappadelle and it was excellent. As first timers, they comped us on a desert which was very nice. All in all a good experience."

  • "Had a great time with a friend catching up. The baked Brie was perfect and the wine selection is incredible. They even honored my request for a "quieter" spot so that we could talk. Our server was beyond incredible with an incredible personality and thoughtful suggestions"

  • "Perfect lunch or dinner spot with something for everyone."

  • "Kale salad under dressed so very dry and chewy. Cauliflower soup showed promise but served on the underside of warm. Chicken with Marsala sauce very tasty and well prepared. Service was noticeably poor from strange server (stoned?), to disinterested person serving food (not server) to person wandering around to clear dishes and fill water but not doing it. Took advantage of half price wine night. Solid Malbec for $17.00. Purple has potential but on this night it was at best average."

  • "We always love going to purple cafe! I especially love their appetizers - spreads, roasted cauliflower, yummm!"

  • "We pretty much enjoyed flavorful salads and sandwiches--but, lived it up a bit w/a delicious ice cream & brownies dessert. Very enjoyable!"

  • "We love to walk over for dinner on the weekends when the spring weather is pleasent. Nice selection of wines along with your choice of patio or indoor seating."

  • "This is one of 4 such restaurants in the Seattle area, and, like the others, this Purple is a great-looking restaurant with a very respectable wine list and good-to-excellent menu. I've eaten at 3 of the four locations, and the service and food are uniformly very good. I enjoy bringing friends to Purple, and several of them have become big fans also."

  • "The food and service were outstanding! Every time I took a drink of my water, the glass was filled. I had the lobster mac & cheese - really good! I will definitely be back."

  • "Purple Cafe is always a great spot for lunch or dinner. The food, service and experience are consistently good. Wine selection offers diversity for any palate. Sometimes can be a little noisy."

  • "The dinner special was excellent and included the best lamb chops that we have ever had - cooked perfectly, tender & delicious. Paired with the recommended red wine, it was a memorable ending to a perfect day. And, did I mention the wait person? Friendly, efficient and always came to our table just at the right time."

  • "My experience at Purple Café in Kirkland was delightful! The food was delicious; the flavors were distinct and were very complimentary. The dishes were unique and fresh and the portions were really appropriate - it was filling, and not overly indulgent. The waitress we had was fabulous; classy, gracious, confident, attentive and not at all suffocating."

  • "The service was good, but we were very disappointed about the food. I ordered the pumpkin ravioli; the flavor was good, but it was drowning in oil, which made it messy and somewhat oily. My husband had the basil pesto pasta, which was also too oily. My daughter had the fresh grilled asparagus; that was also too heavy in oil. I do not recommend this restaurant."

  • "One thing I appreciated very much was the choice of music played and the appropriate level of it and speaker quality. When conversing, the music was not noticeable. when not speaking, I would notice the music, be intrigued by the selection and soothed by the quality of the sound. Our waiter, Ryan, was very personable and attentive and the food was delicious. A GREAT find!!!"

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our post-symphony early evening dining experience at Purple in Kirkland. We prefer this quieter location over the more hip and busy Bellevue restaurant. The menu is amazing and so varied, but we always seem to end up ordering from the Prix Fixe menu as it is so good and a great bargain! My husband loves the steamed clams starter, and I am in heaven with the calamari, so tender and spiced just right. The main courses of chicken marsala for my husband and lamb ragu for me were wonderfully prepared and presented, but the dessert is always the best! The sea salt caramels to die for, and my husband is raves about his german chocolate cake!"

  • "Nice restaurant in a mall, great list of wines to choose from and the food was pretty good."

  • "Had a nice French sauvignon blanc for $12. Not a huge pour, so really had to sip that one to make it last. Had arugula and quinoa salad. Maybe too much quinoa and not enough larger vegies cut up in it. Was very homogenous looking, not the most tempting thing to eat."

  • "Both my friend and I had cauliflower soup, chopped salad, and salted caramels. Oh and two different white wines. All was wonderful. Great server who was there when needed but did not interrupt our conversation! We thought we both loved the tomato which we usually have but I would have to say the cauliflower soup may be our new fav! All in all a very nice way to spend a lunch hour (or was it 2 hours?)!!"

  • "The service? Nonexistent. The food? Only so-so. And we were really looking forward to our dinner at Purple Cafe! Clearly, the waiter had never received training in customer service; I've had better at McDonald's. The mushroom gnocchi was good; the lamb ragu was a bowl of penne with a few pieces of lamb tucked inside. Really. We had two glasses of wine and two restaurant week meals, and I expected a lot more for $82."

  • "Very nice, relaxed dining. Very, very long wine list. Excellent low key service. Nice offer of 50% selected wines on Sunday."

  • "We have been to the Woodinville and Seatte locations and like Purple because the menu has something for everyone. Instead of a meal, we shared appetizers/small plates and sandwiches. We especially liked the hummus trio and cheese platter. Everyone at our table decided to drink wine by the glass to try something different. Our server was outstanding and cheerfully answered questions and made recommendations. This is not a place to go to have a quiet, romantic conversation, but rather, a place to hangout and have drinks and something to eat with friends. We'd go back, but might try the Bellevue location for fun."

  • "The restaurant was good - the server had no personality and was almost too attentive. Wanted to clear our plates literally as soon as we put down our utensils. The food was good. Too much aioli sauce on the sandwich - bacon not cooked enough and kind of fatty. The chicken cranberry salad had gone down hill - used to be better again too much dressing on it - I want to actually taste the food. The Woodinville Purple is way better! The chairs are very uncomfortable seating in all the restaurants. Bad choice by the designer. I really like their food but with all the choices in Kirkland...I think I may go elsewhere. Time to change it up Purple."

  • "I've been to Purple in Kirkland twice recently. The first time (Dec 2013) was ok. My friends both were not impressed w/ the rosotto they ordered, but my burger was good. I went again on Valentine's Day and my friend ordered gluten-free pasta ($4 extra) and compared to my pasta dish, there was barely any pasta in it. The table we were seated at was also not suited for how we were seated (and there wasn't room around the table to change how we were seated. I had to put my silverware on the left because the table was so narrow it wouldn't fit on the right and still allow her to have a plate on the table. We each had pasta and a flight and spent $130+ after tip. Not worth that in my opinion."

  • "Nothing to complain about. Came here with my girlfriend for her birthday and they accommodated us with free dessert. Service was awesome and food was great!"

  • "The wine and the service are the reasons to go here, but the wine is also what will inflate your bill. The food is good, and well-prepared, but not very memorable. The service is the best aspect of the dining experience. Excellent! This Purple is located in a strip mall-type situation, so you will likely have the headlights of SUVs shining through the large and lovely windows from time to time. The low lighting level was also an issue; I like to actually see what I'm eating and drinking, but if you're just there for a romantic drink, don't worry about it."

  • "Purple Cafe has become one of regular dinner spots. The food is consistently good, the wine excellent and the service attentive. Overall it's a great experience for the price. "

  • "The crab cake sandwich was very good, and the kale Caesar excellent! We did not have any wine but the selection is always some of the best around. The spacing, layout of the tables allows for dining privacy which is appreciated. We were well-cared for, server/wait staff was very attentive."

  • "We are never disappointed at Purple, especially the Kirkland location. It is close to our house, and this has became a go-to place for dinner for us. We go in once a week. We love the wine list and have discovered a few new wines there. We like that we can also bring our own bottles in. We always have excellent service and have enjoyed both appetizers and entrees each time we have come in. We really enjoy coming in with friends. We never feel rushed and the wait staff never is impatient when we take our time and linger."

  • "Have eaten at Purple many times ( the pizza is always a good deal) The lamb meatball risotto special was very tasty. The one dish that fell flat was pumpkin ravioli. Thick pasta, small amount of filling and absolutely swimming in butter....not the restaurant's best effort"

  • "Variety and interest of menu is intriguing. Food is good and moderately priced. Atmosphere is cozy. Enjoyable experience."

  • "The waitress was great, the food was okay but honestly has gone down hill a bit. The Woodinville location has better food, the Kirkland location is a better location and better wait staff. The pizzas should be thinner."

  • "My friend and I went here for lunch during Restaurant Week this week. One of my favorite menu items was one of the special menu, so I choose that of course. Can't go wrong with their BLTA. The daily soup, a potato leek, was delish. The bread pudding was good, but honestly I was anticipating something larger than the size of a scallop. Really? But I was pleased nonetheless and will return, time and time again."

  • "Took my GF to lunch for her birthday. We enjoyed the small chopped salad and the chicken salad, also small, which were both adequate. The server, Brian, was very courteous and offered us a dessert on the house for our celebration. All in all, a very pleasant experience. Would go back."
    Dined on 8/19/2013
  • "I ordered the soup and half salad. The soup was tasty but lukewarm, and the size of the salad was closer to a side than a half. Not worth the money."

  • "Great meal celebrating a dear friends birthday. Our server Elliott was outstanding, in fact I would return to this specific Purple just to have Elliott as my server. He made our night. Amazing food, always love the brie in pastry, fabulous wine. Love Purple! Also thought the table next to us with the two young girls with the milk flights was so clever I want to bring my kids in just for this."
