Diner Reviews
  • "My husband and I had an excellent dinner at the bar at Purple. The bartender was fabulous--let us taste a couple wines before selecting one. Fabulous time! Fun people watching too."

  • "Always one of my favorite restaurants for food and a date night or even to take the whole family. Although this last visit the service was not up to there standard. It seems our waitress was doubling behind the bar and was not attentive enough to us. I'll still go back but prefer some of there other locations."

  • "Two of us met -- one from Seattle, the other from Redmond, to catch up and enjoy wonderful wine and fabulous food. We found both at Purple Cafe. We started with Royal Kir and crispy chardonnay followed by amazing Halibut and crisp salads. One order of succotash was plenty with even some left over to carry home. No room for dessert. We'll be back. Staff was excellent; much quieter outside than in. Thanks all."

  • "We have always counted on Purple for a a consistently above average meal with excellent service. On this occasion the risotto, one of their specialties was overly salty and a bity dry. The server was not up to the prompt, attentive standard we have come to expect at Purple."
    Dined on 7/7/2014
  • "I've had off and on success with Purple. Tonight was great. The chopped salad is among the best of its kind (still). The special risotto was "different", in a good way. More like rice with chicken and tomatoes, than creamy risotto, but I'd recommend it. Purple has apparently discontinued its 1/2 price Sunday wine night (frown), but you can still bring a special bottle here with no corkage fees (enthusiastic smile)."

  • "Purple is trying really hard to be an upscale, wine-centered bar with good food. It succeeds partly, but is absurdly overpriced. Given the quality of food, the prices are absurdly high. Starter: Bruschetta. Four cracker-sized pieces of bread with basil, cheese, and cheap balsamic for $11. It was, at best, mediocre. My entrée: Veggie burger & fries. The burger was simply bad. It was mushy, and had the consistency of thick mashed potatoes. I only finished it because I paid so much for it and was hungry. Wife's entrée: Pasta with basil pesto. It was dripping with olive oil and tasted very greasy. I can easily make better at home out of a jar. Overall: good wine selection doesn't make up for bad food. Especially at the high prices."

  • "All of the Purple Wine Café and Wine Bars are a great place to meet friends or a date. They serve good juice and have great food."

  • "I was visiting Bellevue for the week (from Florida), and this restaurant came highly recommended. I was not disappointed!! Excellent, attentive service, delicious food and a wonderful wine list. I will be back to enjoy Purple Café when I return next month."

  • "We came for a late dinner during the week and had a great time. I had the cranberry chicken salad and loved it, except I would have liked the apples in smaller pieces. The Forgeron Cellars Chardonnay tasted great with my salad and I will probably order it again. My dining partner had a bacon burger and sweet potato fries, it was huge and he said it was very good. I love the atmosphere, very unique with lots of metal and low light. I imagine if it was crowed it would be noisy but we were there late on a weeknight and it was fine. The service was good, we didn't have to wait for anything. I look forward to my next visit to Purple."

  • "My husband and I came here for an early Sunday evening dinner (4:45pm reservations), so the restaurant was quite empty and quiet. By the time we left around 6:10pm, more people were there. The food was delicious, and we were there during Happy Hour, so we took advantage of that menu, in addition to ordering from the regular dinner menu. The lobster mac n cheese was delicious and rich. My husband had the french dip, which was also very good. We also had the peanut butter/chocolate brownie for dessert ... yum!"

  • "Coincidently we had dinner at 3 nice restaurants last week with Purple being the 3rd (Matt's in the Market & Maximilian at the Market )". Good comparison - The value at Purple was the best. All three had unique ambience and good food. The pricing varied dramatically with Purple being the best value and the food equal to or better than the other restaurants. The service suffered at Purple. It was inattentive, bored, slow and bordered on rude (we are good guests). We will try Purple/Bellevue again hoping it was just a single wait staff issues."

  • "We had great food and great service. They have one of the best kids menus. I made a big mistake and ordered a similar, but the wrong appetizer. They so kindly exchanged it and also made a special effort to make sure that our kids were served in a very timely fashion. Everyone was very happy with their wine and food. "

  • "This ws my first experience at Purple, after many friends and work colleagues had recommended it to me. Great food and excellent service were certainly the hallmarks of the lunch meeting. 2 thumbs up!"

  • "There pick two lunch menu is terrific. I had the BLT with an axing cup of tomato soup. I paired my lunch with a great wine and had a great business lunch out. I would definitely recommend it!"

  • "We used to enjoy dining at Purple but have noticed the past several times at various locations the service and food have been very lax. From the person seating us (unfortunately, every location) to the server to the food, what was once a premium and fun dining experience, is now something no longer worth paying for. "

  • "June 2013 was the last time I dined here. Dined today, May 25 and the menu has changed from small plates and prix fixe to a small set menu. I liked to dine her because of the variety. Ordered the Burger which was good but too salty. Husband ordered the Chicken Breast on Mash Potatoes. The dish would of been fine without the sauce. The sauce did not complement the entree. Bring the old menu back and I will retunr."

  • "Always good. We de been here numerous times. The one in Seattle I think is better. The menu is kinda small here. Kale salad always a good choice"
    Dined on 5/23/2014
  • "The dates were really good and the clams with sausage were notable. The beef-tenderloins (w/onions) was over cooked. The hanger steak ordered Medium Rare was bit too black and crispy on the outside for us."
    Dined on 5/22/2014
  • "The food was good, although my Chicken Cranberry salad was not as good as other visits (Seattle); seemed almost missing the vinagrette. The waitress was very attentive and pleasant. It was a bit loud for a business lunch, but, it may have been due to our seat in an area where noise may have been trapped. "

  • "They changed the menu a few weeks back and my beloved small plates - one of the reasons I keep coming to Purple - are gone 😡 What we had was great though, the confit was the best duck I've ever had, super tender and juicy and not greasy at all. Bottom line: I'll keep coming but not as often as I used to - unless, of course, they realize their mistake and bring the small plates back!"
    Dined on 5/17/2014
  • "Very noisey. I am an older client, and recognize that today's in thing is loud and energetic. Just doesn't fit my motif, but not enough to turn me away."
    Dined on 5/11/2014
  • "Typical low quality service that has become the norm for Purple. Below average food and weak menu. "
    Dined on 5/9/2014
  • "My wife and I went here for her birthday. We had a great time and would recommend it!"
    Dined on 5/2/2014
  • "Met some friends we've never dinned with at Purple in Bellevue for lunch. Food, service and accommodations were great. The only interesting thing was that they placed us inside a steel spiral area. No one else was in there (4 or 5 more tables) and he sound echoed a lot. No complaints, the chicken salad and carmal bread pudding were awesome!"

  • "My sister and I spent 3 hours for lunch at Purple Cafe this week. We were comfortable and never felt like we were overstaying our welcome. Thank you, wait staff!"

  • "We had a lovely lunch at your Bellevue location. Love the spaciousness of this restaurant. Food and wine were excellent. Our server Janel was also excellent. Now I've been to four of your restaurant locations. I think I like this restaurant the best. Too bad Bellevue is so charmless! But you can't change that. "

  • "I took a client to Purple for a quick lunch. We both ordered salads which were very tasty, despite him ordering a salad and the server bringing a different one. That was a little embarrassing, but the server quickly realized the error and brought out the other salad about five minutes later."
    Dined on 4/24/2014
  • "The three courses were exceptional!! Great wine and food!! Would go again in a heart beat!."
    Dined on 4/13/2014
  • "We had dinner as part of the Seattle Restaurant Week. The menu selection was good, and included something for everyone. Everything was wonderful. Service was excellent. Appetizers, main course and desserts were perfectly prepared. We couldn't have been happier."

  • "Had lunch here as part of SRW..Awesome menu..first time here. Will definitely come back."
    Dined on 4/10/2014
  • "Great ! The food , service and environment was great ! Easy to talk with our friends and not too loud. Thank you for a great dinner! Erin"
    Dined on 4/6/2014
  • "Their Dine Around Seattle menu's options were quite small portions, but they were tasty. The only complaint I have is that the ambience was not very comfortable in that it was extremely chilly for the duration of our dining experience and the furnishing was rather formidable, but that may be a stylistic element."
    Dined on 4/6/2014
  • "Went to Purple for dinner with my girlfriend. It was a really busy Saturday evening, but we made a reservation so we were seated promptly. Otherwise, there would have been an hour wait at 1900. We each had a set of the flight trio (Rose and French Chardonnay) and the Rose was by far the better choice of the two. Main courses were delicious and our server was quite attentive."
    Dined on 3/29/2014
  • "Be prepared to wait at least 1.5 hours for food--for weekend lunch."
    Dined on 3/29/2014
  • "The food was fantastic and service was great. The restaurant is a bit noisy, as it's all very steel and concrete. Would definitely go back and try other things on the menu!"
    Dined on 3/23/2014
  • "Very loud. All hard surfaces. Chairs more uncomfortable than airline seats. Tables for 2 too small. Food mediocre. Service good."
    Dined on 3/22/2014
  • "I love this place. Really great tomato basil soup. I love all the salads. It has great entrees as well. Can be on the loud side. And the chairs are very heavy. It is always a place me and my girlfriends want to go."
    Dined on 3/19/2014
  • "Best if you go willing to try new stuff and experiment......too expensive it you want the same old, same old. Wine staff is great at pairing the right wine with the right food. Maybe try a few starters and share one main entree. Don't go here if you are in a hurry, this is a place you want to taste every bite and enjoy an evening. Deserts are awesome and make sure to take home the caramels and port.....wonderful together!! Call ahead and ask for a nice quiet table or sit at the wine bar....not the noisy main bar!! Enjoy!"

  • "Great evening, Food, Wine with knowledgeable staff on their wine pairings. Only issue for us is it is loud... while that may be energitic for some and the ratings availble on this site... but too loud to hold a conversation for two..."
    Dined on 3/14/2014
  • "My friend and I went here for a quiet lunch. The lunch menu was as extensive as their wine list. The food was delicious and of course the wine, impeccable."
