Went for a special occasion brunch because if their 2014 best of Boston award. Food was tasty but the portion sizes were very small for the very big price tag. The wait staff barely spoke. I'll never go back.

Our food was delicious, beautifully presented and creatively prepared. The service was thoughtful and unobtrusive. We will be back!

We ate here last winter and thought it was very good, but in the last six months they've really gotten their feet under them. We had dinner here for our anniversary. The food was amazing. Our waiter was great. And I don't know what they put in that berry tart--but I think it was magic.

Such a LOVELY space! Makes you feel good the minute you step in the front door. While I didn't sit at the bar, it looked very inviting...next time for sure! Meal was lovely...a light touch on my all my southern favorites...fried green tomatoes, buttermilk brined chicken and well-crafted Old Fashioned! Great spot to catch up with friends. Lively but not too loud!! Cheers until next time

Choice of appetizers was a limited so we ordered the Mushrooms with a farm egg. The dish was good but portions were small. We got the scallops and the skirt steak for our main course and both dishes were exceptional. For desert we got the flour less chocolate cake which was delicious. Overall a great meal but a bit pricy with drink included.

Great spot with a good vibe. The one challenge was the acoustics. It was a challenge to have a conversation even at a small four top. The food is excellent however more information on sourcing and the restaurant's policy around sustainability would be great. Likewise, more vegetarian entrée options would be great. We appreciated the fact that they were willing to remove the bacon from the friend green tomatoes.

I booked a reservation at Puritan and Co because it was recommended as one of the best brunches in Boston, so I expected greatness. Unfortunately, that's not what we got. We were seated and the restaurant was very nearly empty, so there was no need to rush, but our food was out 6 minutes after we'd ordered. My duck and green onion hash had clearly been pre-prepped and was sitting in a warmer for a while, given how dry it was. My boyfriends broccoli and cheddar scramble was fine, but it was basic scrambled 'egg'- not at the level you'd expect at a nice brunch place. Finally, even though it was not busy the whole time we were there, getting a coffee refill was difficult which is frustrating when it's $3 for a cup of plain brewed coffee.

This was my first time at Puritan & Co on $1 Oyster night and I was not disappointed. We were slightly late for our reservation and the final member of our party showed up over a half hour late but the staff was understanding and still got us drinks and oysters while we waited. This was the first time I had seen skirt steak on the menu which is one of my favorite cuts and it was incredible. I can't say enough good things about this place - it's the best!

I took my husband here for his birthday and it exceeded all expectations. My husband and I shared the duck liver pate, fried green tomatoes, mushrooms with farm egg, and the duck entree. The pate was incredible, with a flavor that started fragrant and ended with meaty and organy. The mushroom dish was beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious. The fried green tomatoes were tasty, but didn't stand out; they would have been better without the aioli, which was unnecessary. The duck breast with cherries and kale, atop incredible polenta that was dotted with whole corn kernels, was perfect. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable, and he and the rest of the staff elevated our evening to a truly fine dining experience.

We really enjoyed this lively Cambridge restaurant. The space is open with great light; there is an interesting wine list with selections one doesn't often see. The food, from apps to mains, was delicious and well-presented. The only downside was spotty service; it could have been more attentive.

Unique, fresh food, awesome cocktails, and an inviting atmosphere. Most of the produce is supplied by the chef/owner's family farm and you can taste the freshness. Try the swordfish pastrami, fried green tomatoes, and the cod. I love the $1 oysters on Tuesday. I will definitely be going back.

We had a great evening on a Tuesday night being seated as soon as they opened at 5:30. Our server was awesome with the right mix of energy and humor during his visits without stealing the show. $1 oysters were an exciting surprise when we got there as well. Strong wine-by-the-glass list, which isn't so all over the city. The crab deviled eggs come as a pair and were a nice beginning. Main courses with the strongest marks, in my group of 5, were the pork chop and the skirt steak. Thanks for a great evening!

I've walked into this place once before while in the neighborhood...the décor is handsome, but frankly looks like search results on pinterest for "trendy restaurant." we walked away the first time thinking "well, you know, I think I have a pretty good idea what this will be like without eating here." But we returned with some friends, very much enjoyed the menu, drinks, service, ambiance. Definitely will be back.

The service and especially our server was excellent, the best I have seen in the area. The wooden chairs are very uncomfortable to sit, reminding me of cheap places. The food is so unique that it is on the verge of being weird. I gave an overall rating as good attributed mostly to the service.

We took visiting friends here for brunch because we had a great experience a few months ago, and this time it didn't quite live up. Service was mixed... adequate but not cheerful, sometimes hard to get a server. Food was above-average brunch quality but didn't blow us away. Portions were a bit smaller than I remembered (although I appreciate not getting giant quantities of food... it was just less than last time). So maybe this place is hit or almost-hit.

The freshest salad we've ever had in a restaurant. It's like it was picked just for us. Amazing. Generally, the food was good, and I was glad I didn't have to cook it, but it was nothing that I haven't cooked before. What I look for in a high-end restaurant is innovation, and a "how the heck did they do that?" moment. That didn't happen here, but we'll be back because it is good, and the service was great.

This restaurant is a gem. The simple, clean, sort of retro look makes for a very comfortable dining setting. Host and server were friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable, without being obsequious. The menu selections were varied, but the list short enough to believe that the kitchen is prepared to execute everything they offer with skill. Each course, from appetizer through dessert, produced smiles and expressions of delight. Definitely a place to visit when in Cambridge!

This is our fourth visit. We like it very much and the people who run it are nice. They take a credit card for a party of 6 and we had to cancel once (that afternoon)and they charged us and gave it "back" to us as a gift card at 25 dollars a head. So we wanted to use that up before we forgot we had it. Lo and behold they now take a credit card for a party of 4. We had to book with the credit card again. Only time available was 6:00--did that mean the restaurant was full at 6:00? NO. Totally empty. Which means that if we had had to cancel again they would have told us they couldn't "turn the table" and they would have issued us another GC for 100 dollars. Its not worth the hassel. Plans change sometimes. I won't book a table here again.

I had high hopes after my first meal at Puritan. And, indeed, the fried oyster lettuce wraps and gougere were excellent. But the lamb sausage had a salty, off taste and the shrimp were bland. But the real problem was the main dish - pasta with peas. Frankly, it was so wildly over-salted that it was inedible. The salt completely masked all other flavors. Had I been with my wife only I would have sent it back. The service was friendly and knowledgeable but not very attentive. There were long waits on several occasions including waiting for my credit card to be returned.

Just tried Puritan for the first time and wondered why we had been sooner. Early dinner for 3 on Tuesday (Oyster) night. Oysters were fresh and delicious (from Onset MA). Main courses were each perfect: a sliced flank steak, a pork chop that despite its heft managed to remain juicy, and a codfish dish. A not-too-sweet goat "cheesecake" or more properly a mousse, in a glass layered with fruit was prefect for sharing. Service was friendly but not obstusive. And yes, like a previous reviewer mentioned, the bartender even said goodnight and thank you when we left. Very long bar, also a raw bar, and plenty of seating at tables. Very attractive decor. We will definitely return.
