A word from Puritan & Company
Puritan & Company serves modern American cuisine, with particular emphasis on traditional New England fare, and not without occasional excursions into other ethnic ingredients and styles. Our mainstays are ingredients sourced from farms we know and locally to the extent possible, and always a sense of fun.

Our dining room is a casual and fun place to dine. We love to share our excitement about the food and wine we serve like we would in our own home. Guests and their friends should feel comfortable in our friendly and even familial environment as we make our food and guest the number one focus.

Everything was delicious. Nice for a smaller group. A bit pricey but good portions. A nice mix of starters and mains was perfect! Good service though felt as though we were rushed at the end (plate taken away after we'd said before we were still eating). We had an empty four top next to us all night so not sure why we had to be rushed out. Other than that, a lovely evening.

I am a big fan of Puritan & Co. The food has been fabulous for dinner and the brunch did not disappoint. It did seem louder during brunch so I might not recommend brunch for a larger group because it could be difficult to hear. Otherwise, I say go and enjoy.

The food was excellent. The only complaints was the minimalist choice of main dishes. The duck and striped bass were the highlights. Deserts were average and could be improved. While the wine list was limited and exotic (unrecognizable ) the actual wine were surprisingly pleasant. On my list for future visits!

I went to Puritan in the snowy winter month of February and had a wonderful, warm, homestyle meal that was delightful. I returned back in September with my mother, and I was disappointed by the selection and flavors. Almost only fish options, and there lacked an intelligence to the menu. Fried green tomatoes were paired with pickled veggies and the swordfish pastrami was difficult to swallow. That said, we had incredible service as always and the ambiance is delightful.

This restaurant could be in Brooklyn, although it offers great New England fare. The swordfish pastrami was cool, deconstructed pastrami sandwich, very conceptufal, but the heirloom tomatoes were more basic but so fresh and good. So, we decided the clean, farm table atmosphere was comfortable and the hipness wasn't off putting to the older among us. Go, it is really good.

The best scallops I can remember, and my wife's Muscovy duck was superb. Waitstaff was pleasant and available but never obtrusive. And the drinks were unusual. Not many bars feature Aperol, which is like Campari but has its own appealing character.

We had a wonderful meal at Puritan and Company. There were 5 of us and we ordered a lot of items so we could taste a variety of things. Every single thing we ate was delicious. Not a single bite was merely "fine..." seriously, everything we had was truly excellent. We loved that the dishes were so well thought-out and interesting and very balanced.

Terrific meal over the Labor Day weekend. Lamb belly and bluefish pate appetizers were terrific. We had the scallops, duck confit, and pasta with mushrooms- we each raved. Add to that great drinks and and a terrific waiter and you've got a great evening out.

Late summer menu. We had the smoked bluefish pate, heirloom tomato salad with house made mozzarella, fried green tomatoes with fried oysters, wild mushrooms with duck egg, and the lobster crudite. The fried tomatoes and the wild mushrooms were the standouts. Also enjoyed an excellent (and new to us) Corsican rose. Plus the flourless chocolate tart for dessert.

We enjoyed our dinner at Puritan last Friday. My girlfriend and I decided to celebrate our final meal out as parents to be. I really liked my frito misto. My steak dish was fantastic. Skirt steak perfectly cooked with layered potatoes perfectly cooked and very neat looking. It was also nice to see the chef owner himself in the kitchen garnishing and expediting. Overall an excellent experience and Puritan exceeded my expectations.

I could mention a couple of things that weren't absolutely flawless about our dinner at Puritan, but it would be criticism on a very high level. More importantly, I think that we weren't exactly ideal customers but that the waiting staff managed our table patiently and graciously. There were five of us, celebrating the visit of one of our closest friends, and there was a lot of giggling, and some changing seats, switching of drinks, and complex payment... all things that I would feel very self-conscious about. However, the staff made us feel very welcome and were very accommodating. We even were seated in a way where we didn't disturb our neighbors. The food, as always, was just outstanding.

Meal was lovely...a light touch on my all my southern favorites...fried green tomatoes, buttermilk brined chicken and well-crafted Old Fashioned! Great spot to catch up with friends. Choice of appetizers was a limited so we ordered the Mushrooms with a farm egg. The dish was good but portions were small. Great spot with a good vibe. The one challenge was the acoustics. It was a challenge to have a conversation even at a small four top. The food is excellent however more information on sourcing and the restaurant's policy around sustainability would be great. Likewise, more vegetarian entrée options would be great. We appreciated the fact that they were willing to remove the bacon from the friend green tomatoes.

I booked a reservation at Puritan and Co because it was recommended as one of the best brunches in Boston, so I expected greatness. Unfortunately, that's not what we got. We were seated and the restaurant was very nearly empty, so there was no need to rush, but our food was out 6 minutes after we'd ordered. My duck and green onion hash had clearly been pre-prepped and was sitting in a warmer for a while, given how dry it was. My boyfriends broccoli and cheddar scramble was fine, but it was basic scrambled 'egg'- not at the level you'd expect at a nice brunch place. Finally, even though it was not busy the whole time we were there, getting a coffee refill was difficult which is frustrating when it's $3 for a cup of plain brewed coffee.

This was my first time at Puritan & Co on $1 Oyster night and I was not disappointed. We were slightly late for our reservation and the final member of our party showed up over a half hour late but the staff was understanding and still got us drinks and oysters while we waited. This was the first time I had seen skirt steak on the menu which is one of my favorite cuts and it was incredible. I can't say enough good things about this place - it's the best!

I took my husband here for his birthday and it exceeded all expectations. My husband and I shared the duck liver pate, fried green tomatoes, mushrooms with farm egg, and the duck entree. The pate was incredible, with a flavor that started fragrant and ended with meaty and organy. The mushroom dish was beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious. The fried green tomatoes were tasty, but didn't stand out; they would have been better without the aioli, which was unnecessary. The duck breast with cherries and kale, atop incredible polenta that was dotted with whole corn kernels, was perfect. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable, and he and the rest of the staff elevated our evening to a truly fine dining experience.

We had a great evening on a Tuesday night being seated as soon as they opened at 5:30. Our server was awesome with the right mix of energy and humor during his visits without stealing the show. $1 oysters were an exciting surprise when we got there as well. Strong wine-by-the-glass list, which isn't so all over the city. The crab deviled eggs come as a pair and were a nice beginning. Main courses with the strongest marks, in my group of 5, were the pork chop and the skirt steak. Thanks for a great evening!

But we returned with some friends, very much enjoyed the menu, drinks, service, ambiance. Definitely will be back.
