It took awhile to get our drinks. I got 2 appetizers and they were great, my husband got the lamb, it was not like it usually prefers it but the waiter did not ask him how he would prefer to have it cooked.

Puritan and Company is a fantastic restaurant! With so many new restaurants getting on the small plates and charcuterie boards its sometimes hard to find good quality food even though the menus sound fantastic. This is not so with Puritan and Company, their food is wonderfully creative and the execution is perfect. We shared the smoked bluefish pate, the swordfish pastrami, the cauliflower flan, and the dry aged steak. All were too amazing for words but we were really blown away by the swordfish and the cauliflower flan. Both I would highly recommend. Also, the service was excellent.

We came here for our 1 year anniversary September 2013, and repeated it for the two year anniversary. Everything about the experience is / was outstanding. This place is our absolute favorite in all of Boston, and we've been to a lot of restaurants. The food is fresh (farm-supported ingredients) in interesting and flavorful preparations. The service is friendly, and the staff is very accomodating. The only thing we have to do differently is come back sooner!

We went for brunch this time and although it was good, I much prefer going there for dinner. I order the griddlecakes and my husband had a breakfast sandwich. It would have been nice to have a piece of fresh fruit or something on the plate too. The griddlecakes came with applesauce which was just okay (not the preserves that I had imagined). I think the brunch is better if you order a basket of the pastries which looked great.

We came in for Sunday brunch with high hopes, given their status of Best of Boston brunch for 2014. We weren't disappointed. The cocktails were great - I especially loved the 'church' - and the food was tasty. Of particular note were the pastries (go for the pinwheels and banana bread), the steak and eggs, and the duck confit hash.

Duck confit is one of my favorite foods, but the duck confit hash was so heavily spiced you could not tell what you were eating - so it really did not taste that good. It was also very dry and the poached eggs on top were overdone.

It was quite expensive and just "ok". I'm surprised this got the 'Best of' from Boston Magazine. Service was hot/cold throughout the night, my steak was tough and over-salted. Dessert (coconut cake) seemed like small stale pieces of Angel Food cake. My wife had the beep soup and cod and thought both were great.

This didn't disappoint either of us (one half of the party being a chef, the other being married to one...). There was nothing we would have changed, apart from the seasoning on the steak special- just needed salt. Beyond that, everything was well thought out, impeccably presented and service was perfect.

A short menu, but everything we had was a gem, delicately and perfectly prepared. Our waiter was superb and appropriately attentive. It did take a bit of time for our main courses to come (on a Tuesday night), but it was tolerable. What isn't tolerable is the noise level. There seems to be only one table in the entire restaurant at which you can sit and actually carry on a reasonable conversation. We were fortunate enough to have it, but even then, my wife and I both left the restaurant with sore throats, and they certainly weren't from the delicious food. Come on, folks, they still make acoustic tile, don't they?

Puritan & Company is hands-down one of the best restaurants in the Greater Boston Area. The food is always delicious, the service is excellent, and the prices are very reasonable, especially considering the quality. I love that their menu is seasonal and so you always get to try something new. Particularly exciting is their "Farmer's Market Mondays" dinners that happen during the warmer months. If you do go here for brunch, make sure to try their cashew sticky bun. It's so dangerously, spectacularly, amazingly delicious you will never crave any other pastry again.

I've visited twice now, once for dinner and once for brunch and both times were average at best. I had vowed not to visit again after the dinner experience of poorly seasoned food, slow service and disregard for my feedback during the visit. However, they were just voted best brunch in Boston by Boston Magazien so I figured I'd give them another chance. The baked goods were dry, especially the monkey bread which is what they're apparently known for. The eggs liked seasoning and their potatoes had black spots and weren't fully cooked. They have a limited brunch drink menu also. I can't see a reason for another visit here. Save your money and go to Bergamot instead!

We thank the folks at Puritan for being patient with our tardy arrival (we telephoned ahead). We planned a get-together brunch and were impressed with the pastries. Our main dishes, one order pork hash, two orders scrambled eggs with cheddar and broccoli . While not generous portion wise, the servings were sufficient. While we enjoyed our meals. They were not the type of meal that lingers on one's mind afterwards. Fresh and well executed, but not overall impressive. Please Puritan, do not butter our toast! Overall we were not disappointed. We will try Purtitan for dinner and report back.

Puritan and Co. was the best restaurant I've been to in a while. It was our anniversary and we switched to Puritan from another restaurant at the last minute. I am so glad we did. The menu was manageable with great choices but not overwhelming. We were greated with a glass of Rose champagne and the service went up from there! We started with the tempura lobster with deep fried brussel sprouts and it was amazing! I could have eaten two more orders. We also shared the bluefish pate, lamb belly, scallops and cavatelli, all out of this world! I look forward to returning

Chose P+C for the reputation but were disappointed. Service was great, presentation was great; atmosphere was decent; food was "meh." And really, that's what counts. Had the duck liver mousse to start, ricotta cavatelli, and seared cod. Nothing was the matter with any dish, just not up to the foodie standards that the restaurant projects.

I love Puritan & Co. This was my third or fourth meal there, and the decor and vibe are lovely and appealing. The food is always uber fresh and uber creative. I once sat at the chef's table and watched Wil Gilson himself, which was a treat. The menu changes, but when smoked bluefish pate is there it is an absolute must. Most recently our group started with oysters and pate (the duck liver was also amaze-balls). Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their main courses -- ricotta pasta, skirt steak, cod -- and everyone commented on how delicious the rolls are. The server seemed a bit bored, a bit impatient perhaps. I also recall a birthday dinner (mine!) where no rolls were served because they had run out! How???

I was amazed at how bad the service was. Even after 40 minutes of waiting and after our second or third request to give our order, there still seemed to be no concern or explanation. I rarely give bad reviews but this was notable. The attitude was very patronizing. Not a pleasant experience.

Everything was delicious. Nice for a smaller group. A bit pricey but good portions. A nice mix of starters and mains was perfect! Good service though felt as though we were rushed at the end (plate taken away after we'd said before we were still eating). We had an empty four top next to us all night so not sure why we had to be rushed out. Other than that, a lovely evening.

I went to Puritan in the snowy winter month of February and had a wonderful, warm, homestyle meal that was delightful. I returned back in September with my mother, and I was disappointed by the selection and flavors. Almost only fish options, and there lacked an intelligence to the menu. Fried green tomatoes were paired with pickled veggies and the swordfish pastrami was difficult to swallow. That said, we had incredible service as always and the ambiance is delightful.

This restaurant could be in Brooklyn, although it offers great New England fare. The swordfish pastrami was cool, deconstructed pastrami sandwich, very conceptufal, but the heirloom tomatoes were more basic but so fresh and good. So, we decided the clean, farm table atmosphere was comfortable and the hipness wasn't off putting to the older among us. Go, it is really good.

We had the smoked bluefish pate, heirloom tomato salad with house made mozzarella, fried green tomatoes with fried oysters, wild mushrooms with duck egg, and the lobster crudite.
