Pumpkin BYOBFoodie HeavenThe Philly restaurant scene is made even more attractive by PUMPKIN. This small South Street BYOB serves beautifully
presented, creatively prepared dishes. The staff is well informed regarding ingredients and attentive in every way to
the needs of its patrons. Reservations should be made due to the size of the room. We very highly recommend this gem.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMWe've been many times andWe've been many times and the food is always
outstanding.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved the Food and ServiceLoved the food, and the staff was very accomodating. I would return to this venue. Our wine was kept chilled, and our glasses were refilled. The menu choices were thoroughly explained. The flavors worked really well together. The citrus vinigrette was delicious, and chard was cooked perfectly and paired well with the lobster reduction.6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely experienceWe had a lovely experience on a Wednesday evening. If you're looking for a fine dining experience in a small BYOB setting, this is the place. They conquered every dish throughout each course of the meal. Just remember, cash only!6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious !!!Great BYOB restaurant!!! Menu somewhat limited but Chilled Cauliflower soup. Scallops, and Hanger Steak were wonderful dishes. Service was extremely nice and appropriately attentive . Also loved the wine glasses!!!6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat BYOBLove, Love Pumpkin for it's wonderful creative menu using local fresh ingredients. We were sat behind a large very boisterous group and asked for a quieter table which they gladly did. The group left shortly after and the noise level went down considerably.
The food it wonderful, service very attentive, wine is what you bring, just be prepared for a noisy experience.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time visiting Pumpkinwent to this restaurant early for a 1,000 point reservation. The service was excellent. Servers were all very friendly and knowledgable. We started fof with olives to munch on while we were waiting for our friend. We ended up ordering both of their sides of the day: Scallops and asparagus. They were both delicious. Particularly the scallops. They were seared to perfection. For entrees we had the hangar steak, (this was one of the best steaks I have ever had), Duroc Pork, and an arctic char fish which was also fantastic. We finished off with dessert: warm chocolate cake. An excellent experience and recommended.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMScrumptious!Found Pumpkin on Trip Advisor. Greeted twice with "happy anniversary" when we walked through the door. Service was outstanding. The food..... to be savored. I had the scallops and char. Such flavor! The cauliflower soup my wife had as an appetizer was more than plentiful and she thoroughly enjoyed it - especially the edible flowers! Her swordfish was quite good, but tasting my char really wowed her. Wrapped up by sharing the warm chocolate cake and french press coffee. Perfect ending. Know that it is a bit noisy at times, given the size of the establishment, but the other patrons were so friendly, also extending best wishes to us. We thoroughly loved the evening and will definitely return. Told our friends-- "go, go!"6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing Sunday Prix Fix DinnerFive wonderful courses served with outstanding, though a bit rushed service. Wonderfully prepared, fresh and outstanding presentation. We will be back.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food is outstanding. fresh,The food is outstanding. fresh, delicate and delicious.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMBlown Away by PumpikinI had heard great things about Pumpkin. But none of them did our extraordinary dining experience justice. From the minute we called to say we were running late and the gracious, accommodating response we received, to the unbelievable scallops, swordfish, and peanut butter pot de creme to the friendly server and the sttentive service staff, it couldn't have been any better. Well, the only thing would be if it were slightly bigger because the small space and low ceiling can make it loud in there. But that didn't detract from our wonderful experience. We plan to go back to check out the Sunday night prix fixe soon.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMSurprising little place in Center CI had never heard of Pumpkin, but was looking for somewhere that had a strong food rating and reasonable price. It certain met those expectations. It is a small restaurant with intimate service and well prepared food. Food was very nice and price reasonable. As the name implies, they do not serve alcohol, so if that is an issue you need to bring a nice bottle with you.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was tight.Went with an out-of-town friend, in part to show him where we lived twenty years ago. Very relaxed meal. No hype. Tiny place. BYO. Food had great flavor, was very fresh and appealing, and came out direct from the kitchen. Server was friendly, smart, positive and knowledgeable about the food without being precious. One of those places that makes you feel like you are in very good hands. Clearly some locals who eat there quite regularly. Must be nice! Makes me wish I still lived in the neighborhood.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMIt would have been perfect if ....I would have given this restaurant 5 stars (I gave it only 4) if the noise level hadn't been as LOUD as it was. We go to eat AND talk to our friends. The latter was almost impossible to do because of the noise level. Perhaps the restaurant can figure out a way of fixing this?? The food and service was outstanding! We will certainly go again, but w/o expectations of talking (except to ourselves).5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMDining ExcellenceThe ambiance was excellent. Each plate was both delicious and complex. The care the chef takes to prepare every aspect of his meal is obvious throughout the dining experience.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMMore than pleasantly surprised!Lovely intimate space, excellent service & simply outstanding food- we couldn't have asked for more! This will definitely become one of our city foodie favorites.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGood things come in small packagesThey say good things come in small packages and that certainly holds try for this neighborhood gem.
The cuisine is eclectic, creative and pairs unusual ingredients to create a masterful symphony.
We enjoyed our Habanero cured Salmon, Scallops with Chorizo in squid ink, Duo of Pork - belly and loin. Menu changes frequently but be assured it will highlight seasonal favorites.
Dessert was good but did not blow us away.
Service was friendly, knowledgeable and unobstructive.
BYO is a big plus.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic BYOB!Everything about this place was perfect. We will be back!5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food tasted and lookedThe food tasted and looked excellent, the service was fast, the chef was happy to accommodate a vegetarian, and the waiter was very knowledgeable. My only critique is that, while the overall ambiance is relaxing and quiet, you can hear the people next to you perfectly because the tables are so close together.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMunexpectedly fantasticWow. Each dish was so thoughtfully prepared and delicious. Tiny restaurant, at times quite loud, but we were so into the flavors of what was on our plates, mostly didn't notice. Loved the halloumi cheese appetizer, skate and pork main dishes (the sauces alone are worth going here for), and the lemon chifffon cake was the perfect ending. FYI, BYOB and cash only. Make a reservation on Open Table in advance, pretty full and tables seem to stay put all evening.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWorth the trip! This is a five star restaurant on a bistro space. Try the quail, or the skate, or whatever is on the menu!5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGood but not outstandingWent on a busy night (graduation + mother's day) so perhaps they were overworked5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely meal, great service...... and good value. We came for the Mother's Day prix fixe dinner and did not have trouble securing a reservation. Confirmation of my Open Table request was nearly immediate. We were seated immediately and offered our choices. We each had a delicious cauliflower soup garnished with edible flowers and raisins soaked in verjus poured elegantly at table. My husband had the grilled halloumi cheese and I had the terrine as appetizers. My main entree was the fish (didn't go for the snapper, which carried an upcharge) and my husband enjoyed the hanger steak cooked sous vide. All in all, it was a wonderful and memorable meal served by a friendly and attentive staff. If we lived in Philly, we'd go here once a week.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved itEverything about the night was great
Wahoo superlative
Presentation great
Overall meal experience unforgettable5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic BYOB gemSmall but vibrant restaurant... excellent & interesting dishes.. Sunday 5 course prix fixe is outstanding.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother good BYOAppetizers and main courses very good, desserts less so. Cash only.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMIntimate fine diningMy wife and I love to dine at Pumpkin when we visit Philadelphia. We know that we are going to have an excellent dining experience, and we always have the option of bringing a bottle of our favorite wine! The menu keeps changing, and the choices are always innovative, fresh and very tasty. The staff that one meets are invariably helpful and charming.
For a small space the owners are able to deliver not only high-quality dining but a cosy and friendly atmosphere.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect date nightThe food is on point. The ambiance is perfect. I'm trying to figure out why I don't eat there every night.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMPumpkin is one of those neighborhooPumpkin is one of those neighborhood gems you almost hope stays slightly undiscovered so you can keep getting a reservation without calling months in advance. The food is simply fantastic, the presentation is so amazing you want to take pictures of each course, the service is just right (refilling waters and being available without being in your face), and and the ambiance is stellar. Perfect portions leave you completely satisfied but not overly stuffed full. I have never had a bad course here and always look forward to going back.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMFoodie gemExcellent everything, from service through artistically creative plate presentation, to depth of flavors and texture combinations of food.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMPumpkin serves DELICIOUS foodPumpkin serves DELICIOUS food (I had scallops, skate and fabulous chocolate cake with passion fruit sorbet for desert). We showed up early, but were accomodated quickly into the busy dining room. 5 excellent courses for $40,byob and friendly, gracious and knowledgable service, who can really ask for more? Our server gave us a list of recommended places to go and another hailed us a cab. A splendid evening all around.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food, great portionExcellent food, great portion sizes.

overall great experience!4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMWe came up from DC for a fewWe came up from DC for a few days of dining and enjoying Philly. This place was a treat - would love to have our own in Washington. Great service! Excellent Food - creative and seasonal. And, who doesn't love BYOB! No problems recommending Pumpkin and hoping to dine there again.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat experience for allI went with a party of three for a birthday. It was a lovely experience, particularly because of how accommodating they were able to be for the birthday girl's gluten intolerance--there weren't many things off limits to her, and she felt like she was able to get the whole experience.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyed this place for 2ndEnjoyed this place for 2nd time. If you like innovative, fresh and local food and are open to good, new things, this is the place for you! Helpful service also to explain some not so well known ingredients. Thank you for being in our neighborhood!3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is the best example whyThis is the best example why OpenTable is invaluable to diners and restaurants. One might pass by Pumpkin storefront and not venture in..BIG MISTAKE!The staff is welcoming, proffesional and smart, answering all questions. The decor is eclectic, sparkling and charming. The food is AMAZING! We dined on the evening special, Peking Duck.It was wonderful, on a bed of sauerkraut and pork loin. The mozzarella app served with broccolini and the pork creminette were equally delicious. The staff graciously opened our BYOB.A true "find" in Philadelphia!3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful atmosphere for suchWonderful atmosphere for such a small space. Make sure you make reservations- this restaurant is TINY!3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMDefinitely on the short-list.Outstanding food presented in wonderful and artistic fashion. Notable attention to detail with a blending of flavors. The camembert appetizer presentation was almost too-beautiful to disturb with a fork. This small, intimate and friendly-staffed locale makes for a great neighborhood dining-out experience. As a BYOB it allows you to bring the best of wines at store-bought prices. Bring a white and a red for versatility.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMSmall dining room, but deliciousSmall dining room, but delicious food and friendly service. There was quite a delay between courses, which could be a positive or negative. The pork crepinette was quite good and substantial enough to share between two people. The sweet potato soup was outstanding and flavorful. The beef cheek was also very good and a large portion. It was a bit difficult to identify the accompaniments with the beef. The cod was good but I found it a bit chewy. The goat's milk cheesecake with huckleberry was excellent!3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food but somewhat limitedGreat food but somewhat limited menu. Fine with me, but if you are at all picky you might have trouble finding something that fits your taste at that moment.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent!Very well prepared and inventive dishes. We've been several times and Pumpkin is consistent and one of the best restaurants in Philadelphia.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
