With a changing menu that features only four entrees and a handful of smaller plates, every item needs to be special. At Pumpkin, every single one is, with each plate overwhelming in flavor and presentation. We started with beets and goat cheese, and a spring salad of greens and pickled vegetables. We shared a mackerel entree that was perfectly cooked - crispy skin with flaky flesh beneath. The portions are not generous, but in taking the time to savor every bite of all of the different tastes on each plate, we found ourselves too full for dessert. Pumpkin has become our date night destination in Philly.

5 in our group; every plate was excellent. portion size was perfect- filling and substantial but not 'ridiculous- take home bag required'. Every item on our plates was intentional and flavorful- garnishes were beautiful... but meant to be tasted, and were significant flavor contributions. Two sides were awesome: fresh peas, polenta. Two desserts were fabulous- clearly 'home-made': cookies and mint ice cream we need to have over and over again. Server was terrific, knowledgeable, efficient, attentive, very nice.

This is a spectacular BYOB in Philly. Right on South Street and 18th. This is one of my favorites with exceptional food, great service and a beautiful (and wonderfully small) atmosphere. There are probably only 10 tables which makes it really personal. The service is perfect and the presentation on the plate is some of the most beautiful work i have ever seen.

This was our second visit to Pumpkin since moving to Philadelphia. This was our first time since the change in venue/internal decor change. The food continues to be the best in Philadelphia. The service outstanding (even though they forgot my wife's tea, but apologies repetitively for that). The best scallops I have ever had, the most amazing combination of fresh ingredients. The seating however is very tight, and the noise level a bit too high for me. The lighting is rather dark as well, I could hardly see what my taste buds were enjoying
