  • "Even though there were not too many people having lunch at the restaurant, the service was bad. Last 3 times we were there, it was the same; It´s getting worse. Too bad because, when they open the restaurant at the Headquarters it was a huge difference."

  • "Read online menu. Isn't typical Mexican food/fish tacos you find in San Diego & may be considered more adventuresome "foodie-type-fare" for some people. Tomatillos, anchos, pepperoncini, hibiscus, etc part of the menu items. Ask abt the heat level if you're sensitive. Chips, average. The salsa has hot kick & there's not much of it. We've gone 2x for lunch, eaten outside, & noise level not issue. It's a large cavernous restaurant w/ cement floors & noise level, esp at night, would be more of a issue if you want conversations. One pet peeve. Tepid water is poured & each time we've had to ask for ice, it's taken quite a while to get it). There are no views other than the courtyard if you eat outside."

  • "Puesto is different and really interesting inside. The tacos are reasonably priced and were delicious. We got 6 tacos and ceviche for 3 of us. The alcohol was pricey. Only the wealthy will come back for more. $36 for a pitcher of margaritas and it was $6 more for mango or strawberry! I think they forgot the mango, but they were fantastic anyhow. Even $8-10 less per pitcher would bring me back. "

  • "The location is great and there is nice outdoor seating. The food was not good. We had a party of four and we all got different tacos. The carnitas was greasy. The chicken had had to many things going on to make it appealing. The lobster taco and filet taco were the best, but not good enough to make me want to return. The salsa tasted identical to the fast food salsa served at Baja Fresh. The guacamole was very good. We tried the fresh made Fresca drinks and they were so sweet and "syrupy" and traded them out for coke. The server was nice and attentive. Would not go back as the food was not that good."

  • "I could not get anyone on the phone at this place. The phone would ring and ring, or a machine would pick up and blow me off, or a person would promise to call me later and we could not connect. However once we got there the host staff and waitstaff were wonderful. The atmosphere is trendy, with the distressed concrete and whatnot. nice open downstairs that is open to a patio. The food is a bit overpriced, but delicious. 3 tacos for $11, chicken was outstanding, pork pihil was outstanding, filet mignon was a bit salty and dry and they add $1.50 for that one. "Perfect Margarita" was perfect! Parking is a nightmare. I would cautiously recommend it to someone who does not mind a little bit of a splurge."

  • "Love having Puesto downtown. Our server was Jeff this week and he was efficient and very good. Ask for the SPICY salsa if you dare... not to hot but lots more flavor than the standard issue. Have had all taco choices and all are equally great! Don't be afraid of the wines on tap.. they aren't bad and not box wine... don't be fooled. Taco Tuesdays are a weekly must for us... $2 tacos and $2 beer if so inclined. "

  • "Hubby's Birthday, time to get a few neighbors together and invite a few friends that we haven't seen in a while. Needs to be walking distance from our East Village Condo. Puesto was it. A bit colder than usual on our walk over but perfect distance, SD tourists everywhere and good company.. Arrived, table ready, we were seated and first round of celebratory drinks ordered within minutes of the fresh chips and bland guacamole delivered. Fresh and natural is their claim and I believe it. Several of us had the 3 tacos for a bargain. The Shrimp, Carnitas, and Filet Mignon seemed to be everyone's recommendations. Great service, good FOOD, and a vibrant location, the New Headquarters, the old police station near Seaport Village!"

  • "Came here for my husband's 55th birthday...and brought my folks. We all ordered the three taco combo and each of us was happy with our food. The lobster taco was good, but not worth the extra $$ you pay for it versus the sirloin taco that was worth a couple of extra dollars. Service did seem a little slow at times...perhaps someone was being trained. The noise level is my only complaint. There was a table of 6-8 people who's conversation dominated the entire interior of the place. Combined with the music it made it difficult to carry on a conversation. I would suggest eating on the patio."

  • "The tacos are really great, Mexico City style, and the waiters knowledgeable about tequila and how to drink it."

  • "A great place mostly known for street tacos and vegetarian friendly ones as well. They make their own tortillas and the chips and salsa are excellent. All the tacos tasted fresh and were interesting. Great margaritas as well. Sustainable food and service was excellent. Good value for the money and great location in the downtown Embarcadero district."

  • "Fresh everything - a wonderful local find in the new Headquarters/Seaport Village annex. We had the Ahi cevice (quite good), the Mexican fruit bowl (tasty!), 3 taco plate (fish, chicken & carnitas - all good), 2 local beers, the bunuelo/ice cream dessert (yummmm!), and frozen horchata (a must for all horchata fans). A most enjoyable experience, can't wait to go back!"

  • "I've been here several times but brought a group of friends that hadn't yet been for a bachelorette dinner. Love how fresh everything is from the dinner to the drinks and our server was friendly and knowledgeable. The space is beautifully designed and I intend to keep returning."

  • "Street style food being expensive is an unusual contradiction. The tacos were very delicious though. Great location made the investment less painful. Fifteen dollar valet was annoying. The biggest problem however was the service. Our lady kept messing up the orders and I could swear she just forgot about us for 45 minutes. She was nice though. I will try it one more time."

  • "Great margaritas!! We had street tacos all were excellent. The ceviche was full of fish and flavor. Flash backs from local small cafes in Baja."

  • "i really enjoyed the new Puesto at Headquarters. i wasn't impressed by the service. first night slow, we weren't greeted for a while, and checkups were not done. second afternoon, server forgot our drinks (twice!), didn't check up on us. however, food was great, fun, nice. see my pics on yelp. my motto has always been service first can trump bad food, but this was opposite. good food didn't trump poor service. hopefully they will work out the server issues."

  • "Different tacos than your used to: interesting and delish. Parking can be a challenge so just go straight to Seaport Village, PUESTO will validate the ticket , very fun, great service, the Paloma used home made ingred's and was my favorite drink."

  • "We went to Puesto at the HQ at the suggestion of a local friend. Tacos were great--menu was inventive. Service was spotty, though. Our server forgot to bring second drink; food was late getting out; appetizer delivered after main course. I think that their computers were down and they were hustling, though. So I wouldn't hesitate on giving them a second chance."

  • "The unique types of street taco's are very good. Appetizers and deserts are Delicious. Love the atmosphere. Dog friendly patio. I live locally and go on a regular basis and the service is consistantly great."

  • "Puesto is a great place to visit on a beautiful San Diego day. The guacamole was excellent. And the tacos are their mainstay. A little pricey for drinks but you're paying for the location. Service was a little slow but we weren't in a big hurry. The converted former San Diego Police Department "Headquarters" has become a nice addition to the Seaport Village area. It'll be popular with locals and tourists alike."

  • "Not a bad place for a good quick lunch. The service was okay with some longer than normal periods of time before server would reappear and resistant was not crowded. Otherwise the dinning experience was good."

  • "We took a group of eight on a Friday night. Overall, the food was good, but the service was terrible. The wait staff was clearly not trained on wine service as we were served a corked bottle of wine, which was poured without offering a taste. It then took at least 30 minutes to get our server back to our table to replace the bottle. It also took 30 minutes to get cocktails that people in our party ordered. Once we finally received our check, we were charged for the corked bottle of wine AND it's replacement."

  • "This brand new San Diego joint is in a really cool development called The Headquarters. The bar and food menu were both filled with some fantastic flavor twist on old traditional Mexican and Latin food favorites. For 8 people with food and drinks our total bill was only about $200. Lots of vibrant and social seating variations depending on the size of your group."

  • "We were a little late on our reservation by about 15 minutes and they were kind enough to honor our reservation and got us seated right away. The four of us wanted to do taco Tuesday and I heard this was a great spot. The area in which the restaurant is in is very cute and would be a great place for a date night. Our waitress was great especially since I had a lot of questions and due to my tree nut allergies alerted her to make sure my food didn't contain any. She was always helpful and bought our beers out with chips and salsa immediately. Big thumbs up to the chefs. The food was amazing! Hand made corn tortillas and delicious salsa. All four of us agreed we loved the baja fish taco and will back again for taco Tuesday!"

  • "Party of 4 seated in the dining room. Originally the hostess sat us in the busy/kitchen/bar area. This was noisy and frenetic! With the help of a very motivated waitstaff and manager we were given a great table for 4 in the dining room! PHew! On to the food...chips and smoky-salsa, homemade, true to perfection! Street tacos were fresh and inventive. Stay clear of the chile relleno taco unless you enjoy the heat from ... Nice presentation of food. Au Courant bar has a heavy selection of tequila choices but watch the wallet... or your sips could run you $15 for that oh-so-special drink! PS the parking is easy, tons of space within a hop/skip/jump from the restaurant! Although, when Comic- Con comes to town....well, good luck!!"

  • "Drinks are overpriced. Food portions are small. Better to stop by on a lunch break. Chips and salsa not very good. Service was great."

  • "Booked a table for nine which grew to 12 and Puesto was happy to accommodate. When we arrived, two more had come along making us 14 in total. Again, Puesto staff were friendly and willing to fit us in. The menu was simple, fresh and very tasty. The drink selection was also great. Some good local and Mexican beers. Atmosphere was energetic. Overall, I would highly recommend Puesto for a low key but fun night night out for a group looking for a casual restaurant with really good food that doesn't break the bank. I will definitely go back and will take more visitors to SD to Puesto in the future."

  • "This restaurant is among the most unique I have been to, with superbly crafted simple Mexican dishes, and a flair for creativity that makes the xperience delightful in every way. The staff are truly caring people, not just excellent service staff."

  • "From the second you walk into the modern looking structure, you have the impression it will be different. It looks to appear as an old building that has been rehabbed to look like a modern loft. The bar is very cool and the peek a boo views into the kitchen are fun too. Now the food. It's Mexican Street Food...without the dysentery for months after. Awesome tacos ranging from carnitas to lobster. Also, the other plates offer a bit more food for similar pricing. Huge selection of Tequila here as well, and they make great margaritas!"

  • "We were at the Hilton Bayfront for a Sales Kick off ( 3 days). We happened to see this place on yelp after a long walk in Sunny San Diego ( most of us are from East Coast). # tacos for $11 is a steal and the variety they offered was great. Especially the Tacos with melted cheese is like a trick worth patenting ( though patents are evil in general)."
