  • "It is amazing how Puesto has taken the simple, lowly taco and turned it into a gourmet experience. The unique combinations of menu items make ordering fun and interesting. The freshness of the ingredients is noticed in every bite. I can't think of many places that have had the level of service provided to us on our visit. Truly exceptional all around."

  • "I saw online that this restaurant had a limited menu, so I wasn't expecting much when we went there. My friend lives in the neighborhood and this was her choice for dinner. I have to admit, I was pleasantly surprised! The street tacos were excellent and very filling! I had to ask for additional salsa, but that was no problem. It did get a bit loud but because we were seated outside, we were able to deal with it. Seems to be a hip spot for the younger crowd. There is nice outdoor furniture like couches with pretty fire displays in some areas to dine at there. I would definitely recommend this place to at least try it and make your own decision. I really liked it!"

  • "The tacos tasted amazing. The Baja Fish taco was light and fresh with a nice tang, the cactus taco was a star and the filet mingon taco was maybe the best taco I have ever had. The service was just enough, always there when we needed it and gone otherwise."

  • "Good: The tacos were very good. I ordered a trio: 1 lobster, 1 shrimp, and 1 rajas. The rajas was the best followed by the shrimp. I won't order the lobster again...was there any lobster on the taco???? The chips and salsa were very good but don't waste your money on the guacamole. It was nothing special for $8. Nice place. Request to sit upstairs. Bad: Parking is the pits and the restaurant charges $15 for valet. This is outrageous. The drinks: $10 for a watery sangria. Won't do that again...grab a beer. The service was really lacking. I think we saw our waitress once and never again until she brought the check. Not much attention given. Noise level was very high. We could not hear the friends we were with."

  • "Visited this restaurant for the first time after reading so many great reviews. Overall, it was a mediocre experience. Might go back for a drink/appetizers on the patio. Best food item was the fresh guacamole. Tacos were decent. Service was just inadequate. Soooo tired of going to restaurants that are busy just because of their location and/or attraction to tourists, so the wait staff think they can get away with crappy service and still make good money in tips. Management needs to pay more attention to their servers, interact with customers, etc."

  • "We sat upstairs and enjoyed this 'indoor-outdoor' area with a nice view of The Headquarters' courtyard and the vibe of this colorful restaurant. The Mix and Match tacos are what all four members of our party ordered and they were delicious! Had we been hungrier, we would have ordered an appetizer or two -- the selection was interesting and tempting! The three tacos (for only $11 I might add!) were the perfect amount of food...along with the TWO baskets of chips we devoured as we sipped on our tasty Puesto Perfect margaritas. "Favorites" among the four of us were the Chicken El Pastor taco and the Rajas Veg taco. We'll be back! This is a great place to take out-of-town guests (like we did) and not spend a fortune."

  • "First visit to Puesto based on a recommendation from a friend. We shared all food and loved it all - ceviche was fresh, crab guac was different and amazing, ahi stack was not only fabulous but a work of art, tacos were great. The flirt tacos were by far the best, and might be the best taco we've ever had. My reasons for not giving 5 stars is that for how fresh all the food was nobody in my party liked the chips, they were not good. We had a reservation for dinner and I feel were seated in the worst table in the restaurant. Very sad that we didn't get a better seat having made a reservation. I wish I had said something earlier, but didn't realize just how horrible our table was until we were served (fabulous) margaritas and just stayed."

  • "My dining experience was fine. I paid the bill with cash. I put an extra 20 in the folio and asked for change. I received back two 5s and a 10. My bill was $38. I ask you, given the change I received what kind of tip should I have given? Geeez, it might be nice if the help had a brain. This is the 2nd review I have submitted because the wait staff is sub par."

  • "Puesto was great!! Loved the menu and interesting options for their main focus, tacos. The set-up of the restaurant was great with an open view into the kitchen from all parts of the restaurant. When we visited the place was very busy (1 hour wait to those without reservations) and as a result, service was a little slow, however it was not because the kitchen staff and servers weren't working their tails off. As a former restaurant manager, it was easy to tell that the place was well run on top of having great food and great beer/wine/margarita options. Puesto, please open a location in the SF Bay Area so we can come visit you more often."

  • "We had an 8:30 reservation, on a day like July 4th we were pleasantly surprised that it was ready for us on time! Food was yummy. Service was great! What completely made our night was the perfectly situated table. We had THE perfect view of the fireworks on Friday. My kids loved it! Thank you Puesto!"

  • "We booked the place just in time before the 7/4 fireworks for 7:00pm a week ahead of time. We were seated right away when most others had to wait for an hour and a half to two hours. Great drinks and tacos, nice energetic ambience. Got out just in time to go to the pier next door to watch fantastic fireworks. We were glad we made a reservation - there were long lines at all the place around."

  • "I ordered the chicken mole witch came with a side of beans and rice. Being from Oaxaca I didn't expect much from a San Diego restaurant. Usually the Flavors are imitated and made SoCal, to my surprise the mole tasted like something my grandma would make! The rice and beans were delicious and very authentic. I wish more tortillas would be given with the order and more chicken in the mole. The rice and beans portions were very small as well but very happy with my order."

  • "Celebrated a going away party at Puesto and despite having a reservation, we experienced horrible service. I waited 10 minutes at a not overly busy bar (for pre-seating drinks) only to be ignored completely by the bar staff. They were chatting it up with the regular customers (whom they seemed to know well) but didn't even glance at me. Not one of the 3. Then our dinner server was just as bad! She had a major attitude and permanent scowl on her face; we had to continually flag her down for drink refills and to order appetizers. Not sure if she was really busy or just slow but everything took much longer than it should. I was disappointed that we chose Puesto for the going away party, as the poor service really put a damper on our evening."

  • "Cute restaurant, funny and attentive staff, delicious food and frozen horchata?! Granted we were the first group there at the 11 am opening, but we had a great time, food came out quickly and the whole space is very aesthetically pleasing."

  • "Our group of six went to Puesto last Saturday and it was delightful. I am so happy that we got to sit outside since inside of the restaurant can be very noisy and hard to have conversation but outside was perfect for us. Our waiter Jules (sp?) was amazing - made us feel so welcome, was so patient with explaining the menu and recommendations. We will definitely be back. Good food, good ambience, reasonably priced, great service - what else could you ask for ..."

  • "Tacos were awesome. I'm used to the standard, simple street taco but I don't mind eating these! The flavors are fresh, the mango margaritas actually have mango in them, great list of tequilas. It's kinda pricey (Seaport village proximity doesn't help) but all in all, good. It gets busy after 5. Alot of tourists that aren't lured by the Cheesecake Factory tend to find themselves here"

  • "This was our third trip to Puesto. The first two were fun and enjoyable but they aren't ready to handle summer crowds. We waited 30 min for a table after our reservation time. The poor server was all alone trying to cover 7 tables upstairs. Food arrive lukewarm, drinks didn't have ice. We won't go back until we hear things are more organized."

  • "Puesto serves some excellent street-style tacos. (The entire central portion of their menu is pick three for $11, with a surcharge for lobster, shrimp, or filet mignon). The only downside to eating here, is that I really wish they served the tacos with a side of rice and beans. That would make it feel like a full meal. The tortilla chips are variable. Sometimes, they are served hot (yum), and sometimes they are cold and picked from a pre-filled cache of baskets. I've always found the service here to be quite good, thusfar...and on occasion, it is downright remarkable."

  • "Expensive little servings. Brunch is $70.00 for 2 without the tip. The lobster in the tacos is almost nowhere to be found. I have to ask the waiter where the lobster is. Tenderloin is diced. Not my type. The taste overall is mediocre. Don't know why the critics of San Diego magazine made Puesto their choice. Probably they got better choice servings. Not impressed at all. There are other better places for Mexican food. I live here so I know."

  • "I went for the first time with a friend and my 9 month old daughter. The service was great, friendly and they interacted with my baby. I would definitely recommend making a reservation unless you are ok with waiting an hour. Place is not too big but space is roomy and comfortable. Food was good. I had the three taco platter with carnitas, filet mingon, and pollo. All tasty and full of meat."

  • "This was our 3rd visit and it keeps getting better. The menu has had subtle changes for the better!"

  • "Puesto is exactly as promised - a casual place to chill after a long day at the Convention Center, and a really nice terrace on the square of the newly opened Headquarter mall. We shared starters - a guacamole (ok), a fruit salad (ok but mangoes weren't tender and ripe), and a tuna tartar, followed by their signature trio of tacos - a great way to taste their many varied offers. However, as happens often these days portion sizes were huge, thus yet another proof of why it is so difficult to stay in shape. Good food should be about quality not quantity. Those who want xxl portions should order extra portions. It is well known that we all eat more when portions are bigger. Plus Mexican food is mighty rich - so please, cut down the portions."

  • "From the 1st point of contact a the check in, everything and everyone was awesome. We asked to be move to a different table because of the sun on the patio and we were immediately given a different table with apologies of the sun. Adam our server was outstanding. Very knowledgeable of their menu and drinks and gave critic ratings of desert items."

  • "Like some chefs say, add a little salt. The wait staff was horrible on Sunday. People there seemed as if they had better things to do. Victor was ok as a waiter, but it just didn't seem genuine. We had more help from the other staff than our actual waiter. Ambience isn't enough for me if the staff themselves are not up to par."

  • "My wife suggested this spot on a whim and it turned out be excellent. The Filet Mignon tacos are by far my favorite. The lounge chairs are also part of the great experience. We liked the feeling of it being really casual instead of a formal sit down place. While there are tables to sit at, nothing beats the feel of being relaxed at a restaurant like this one. We really love this place and its food."

  • "Food is spectacularly flavorful. 3 tacos is a great deal. Guacamole was tasty. The fruit bowl is a must. Margs are made with natural ingredients - tequila, lime juice and agave nectar. Puesto offers a unique selection of Mechaladas sure to satisfy most mechalada connoisseurs. Service was ok, waitress did not know what house tequila was but upselling a more expensive tequila for their signature margaritas. The busboy was more knowledgeable and friendlier. All in all a great, festive dining experience."

  • "Puesto at the Headquarters is a properly trendy spot with a great selection of street tacos in a vibrant, friendly atmosphere. Nestled in a little shopping center and close to an Eddie V's, the clientele is upscale, and the mood laid back and a blend of local and touristy (but in a good way). We had the lobster, filet mignon, and cactus taco trio, and each one was superb. Believe it or not, the lobster taco was my least favorite, which tells just how good the others were, because it was also delish. Great mixed drinks, fresh salsa, superb service. Highly recommended for a fun night out with friends. Don't forget to get your parking ticked validated (even with validation it was about 7 bucks). Did a little shopping afterward. Fun night!"

  • "The restaurant it FABULOUS, the food was OUTSTANDING and the service was SUPERB! I love the décor, the ambiance, the music, everything about it! I am a very picky eater, and stuck with my usual chicken, but THIS chicken was juicy, the tacos weren't dry, and their guacamole was PERFECT! My co-workers had lobster, pork, prime rib and shrimp tacos..they ALL looked OUTSTANDING!!! Perfect place for outside dining as there is something for EVERYONE!! I should know I'm the pickiest eater in the WORLD!"

  • "The Puesto Headquarters must have had a problem with their phone because everytime I called, it would hang up. I wanted to let them know that our group size increased. I was able to make reservations on open table but could not change the groups size but they were able to accommodate on site. The tacos tasted great, just a little on the sloppy side."
