A word from Puckett's 5th & Church
Founded in the fifties, people have been congregating at Puckett"s for over half a century. We've updated a bit, added some recipes from our family and friends, and thrown in some great live music. But it's still Puckett's Grocery... nothing too fancy, but everything good. It's where the locals go for real food, real people and real fun.Continued

  • "We had a reservation, but they forgot about us and after half an hour we were finally seated. Our server forgot to bring several of our items. We ordered two desserts and she only brought one. It was very noisy, but I would think they would be used to that. The food was so so. The music was the best part. Wouldn't really recommend. "

  • "This place is a Nashville institution that specializes in "comfort food." Food was very good, but know what you are in for - not many "light" options on the menu! Service was excellent. The Piggy-Mac (mac and cheese over pulled pork) was awesome, but it's a good thing in comes in small servings! "

  • "Pleasantly surprised. Walked right in, told them we had a reservation and was seated immediately. The server was attentive and the food was cooked perfectly. We were too early for the live music which isn't something I enjoy while eating but given the intimate setting would be perfect for those who do. We plan to try their Franklin and Leiper's Fork locations, too. "

  • "I have been to this Puckett's several times before. It was very busy, but we got seated right away with our reservation. The food is always good at Puckett's, but the service was poor. I don't know if it was a case of understaffed that night or what but it took us over hour and 40 minutes for dinner. Our server was no where to be found much of the time. One person in the group had his salad arrive at the same time as his entree so his salmon was getting cold while he ate the salad. Generally, all the food was very good, but the fried green tomatoes were not crisp ( under cooked) and the peach cobbler had very few peaches. "

  • "Great food and lots of menu choices. I took my daughter there before attending a show at TPAC and it was perfect. Relaxed atmosphere and quick service. Walking distance to TPAC. The kids chicken tenders were excellent as were my smashed sweet potatoes. "

  • "Love everything about this place. The food is great. The service is always wonderful. It can be a bit loud but it goes along with the entire experience. A must go. "

  • "We eat at Puckett's Nashville mainly before hockey games and concerts, always by reservation. My wife and I have never had an unsatisfactory experience. The food is always great, staff friendly and prompt, value for the dollar excellent. Everyone we've taken there has loved the food and vowed to return. Best kept secret downtown."

  • "If you're looking for a VERY loud music place, this is it. Not conducive to conversation. Ordered the fried green beans to start and they were so salty they were inedible. The server took the cost off the bill. My husband and I each ordered ribs and fries. They came with a side salad. The side salad was delivered before the green beans had even been touched. As we were eating the salad, the ribs came to the table. We told the server to take them back as we felt as though we were being very rushed. The ribs and fries were fine when we got them back. Nothing to special. If we ever found ourselves in Nashville again, we would not go back to Pucketts"

  • "We made reservations 2 months in advance but were sat at a table directly in front of the door. We were elbowed, pushed, and had a woman loose her balance and sit on our table while eating. We complained to the manager afterward and she offered free desert, to which we declined. The table we were sat at seemed to be added. If it wasn't it is a very poor place to seat someone yet alone a reservation. Will not be back."

  • "I wanted to give a visitor from Charlotte, NC a feel of Nashville. She was here for a business meeting and didn't get here until 7 pm and left the next day at noon, so we didn't have time for anything but dinner. She really enjoyed the food and music."

  • "We enjoyed milk shakes and ribs before the game. Very reasonable. Friendly service."

  • "We went out with some friends from out of town to get a "Nashville feeling" meal. There was a nice country band playing. It was a bit loud, but expected. The food was good but was dismayed that they were out of two of our entree choices. Also found it hard to believe that they did not have a recipe for a cocktail that I had at the Franklin's Puckett's. Place was busy so the service was slow. I prefer the Franklin Puckett's better."

  • "Good food, great atmosphere, great service! We'll def go back next time we're in Nashville!"

  • "The aromas draw you in and the food, especially the smoked chicken and ribs are outstanding . ..do not miss the peach cobbler!"

  • "Loved this place! It was our first time there, on the recommendation of a friend who lives in Nashville. We especially enjoyed the band (Music City Doughboys) - they were THE reason we ultimately made the choice to go. Brady was our server, and he was great! Keep up the good work!"

  • "Without a reservation, you will wait. I made a 6:15 dinner reservation at 4:30pm--this was a Monday evening, and there were several times still available. Glad we did, because the line was out the door. We are new to Nashville, and Puckett's has great find, a fun atmosphere (if a bit loud), excellent live music. Terrific waiter, super helpful and attentive even though the place was packed. Overall a great find. We'll go back."

  • "Pucketts is so comfortable it's like eating at grandmas house! Very southern yet home style food! WOW the desert...OMG the cookie is amazing!"

  • "I had anticipated my first visit to Puckett's Downtown, however as you can see by my scores was vastly disappointed. We had a party of five and all had different entrees. Not a single one was up to par. The meat in my pork sliders was tough and one of my friend's only ate half of her Veggie Burger. I realize that this location is a busy one, with the downtown event traffic, but I will not be back. Wait staff was not attentive or friendly, and seemed frazzled. We were seated in a stuffy booth in the back of the restaurant, which was also unpleasant."

  • "Saturday early dinner at 5:30 after matinee of "Wicked" at TPAC. Our party of 7 arrived a little early for 5:30 reservation through Open Table. We were seated within 10 minutes and our food came very quickly after ordering. Food was very good, with the BBQ earning the biggest raves. Would love to try other items on the menu, especially the lunch specials. Apple pie for dessert was wonderful. No complaints except noise level was a little too loud to be heard across the wide booths. Close to TPAC and parking, so a great choice for us."

  • "Came particularly to hear music, Zig Zag Mo Jo. Loved the atmosphere and food was wonderful. Will definately return. We are from out of town and it was a pleasurable experience."

  • "Jonell Mosser was great. The food was good and I got my half off because of my birthday. Free cobbler too. I had friends in from Ky and they loved it too."

  • "We actually ended up eating at Puckett's TWICE. Suited the whole family's tastes at an affordable price. My husband loved the BBQ plate, and it came with 4 sides. Plenty. I had the country fried chicken & second time, for lunch, I had the bbq plate. Some of the best bbq I have ever eaten, and we live in Memphis. The kids had grilled chicken sandwich and the chicken tenders, and my picky one ate every bite. He said it was the best chicken he's ever had. Sides were typical country: slaw, squash, green beans, baked beans, potato salad, fries, sweet potatoes. Cost for all of us was about $60 for dinner and $45 for lunch (no dessert). Loud, casual. But convenient to TPAC and the stadiums, so perfect if you want a casual meal before events."

  • "Great food and awesome service. It's bigger and better than the Franklin location, feels roomier. Make reservations if you can, it gets really crowded in the evening at dinner time. Try the shrimp and grits, my favorite. Good selection of beers, let the server give you samples before you commit, or tell them to surprise you. Good for kids too, lots of food choices."

  • "Great place to sample some southern fare. Dress code is very casual. Staff is wonderful. Live band provides great entertainment. Makes for a bit of noise but you can still carry on a conversation. Food is good. Public parking right across the street. Would definitely eat there again."

  • "This restaurant is great to see and hear new artists participating in the Nashville scene. Sometimes country, sometime folk/country, sometimes country/pop. Mostly pretty talented folks. Food is okay but a fun place to hang with friends, etc."

  • "Went to Puckett's before George Straight concert. Our reservation were for 5:30 and we were at our table by 5:40. It was a good thing we had reservation as the wait time was 2 hours and 15 minutes. Greeted promptly by waiter. Food was hot, fresh, and well seasoned. The only issue was the noise level. There were 3 or 4 large groups of high school students which made the noise level to high for normal conversation. We will try them again, but only with reservations."

  • "My wife and I ate dinner at Puckett's while visiting Nashville over the weekend - first time to both places for us, the city and the restaurant. Easy to find and walk to from the Broadway Street strip. Make an online reservation (easy from the restaurant website) to make sure you can get in w/o a long wait... evenings book fast around live music performances. The roasted 1/2 chicken dinner was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING and perhaps the best chicken I have ever tasted. Seriously. Same for the cobbler, peach that night but it rotates. Staff was very friendly and wears cool logo T-shirts, that of course they sell also as souvenirs. Cool relaxed vibe, and a good mix of couples, friends groups, and younger families. A definite recommendation!"

  • "It took a few minutes to get a server but they were apologetic and solved it shorty after I informed them. The food is amazing I had the shrimp and grits and the rest of the group I was with had the southern fried chicken and they all loved it."

  • "Bad service. We waited 10 minutes for drinks after waiting 20 for a server to ever come to our table. Considering we had reservations, unacceptable."

  • "We went for dinner to hear live music. The music scene there is really good. We were very surprised by the food. Expected tourist trap kind of meal and we all had solid entrees. This will always be on my list when we return to Nashville."

  • "The food was incredible,? I wish we had known there was live music I'm Sunday nights as it was uncomfortably loud when we were seated. But otherwise, we'd go back again."

  • "We booked this for a group outing of 10. We wanted something fun and not fancy to start our night. We made a great choice. Food was awesome and service was great. A fun place to start your Nashville trip"

  • "Excellent service. Food was decent. The music was mellow and nice, but couldn't understand singer. Music louder than vocals. Overall a good place."

  • "We go to this restaurant exclusively for the live music. The venue is intimate and there is not a bad table. The food is mediocre at best but acceptable for spending the night listening to great live music. Free valet parking is a great perk! We love to bring out of town visitors to this restaurant."

  • "Pucketts is a great place to eat if you want in a local flair. Great food, friendly staff, and a nice venue. I had the fried chicken which was some of the best I have ever had. My husband has the ribs which also were great. Moderately price, and an easy walk from any of the downtown hotels."
