PUBLICPublic was a great revelation...Food was very delicious and the flavors interesting. Place was very busy with great atmosphere and the staff were great and friendly. Definitely recommend and would easily be our best dining experience in the US after traveling for 4 weeks.

Just like the overall ambience.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMThe most Amazin foie gras ever;Celebrated My aniversary and has an awesome night. Didnt pick the right wine but It was a really great night.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMAlmost perfect, but...Second visit to this restaurant and the place definately has a great vibe about it! Tables are very close, so forget privacy, but the candlelit room and shabby chic converted warehouse look makes up for this fact in spades. Food was great, but the cooked to perfection venison loin was served with a cheesy slab of mash?! Maybe Americans love this combo, but for a visiting Brit is was just odd! I left the slab on the plate and enjoyed the loin with a beautiful herby pesto and a great side of lemon miso asparagus. My partner enjoyed the pork belly, but this dish also had some kind of vegetable (daikon perhaps?) that was not pleasant to eat. The wine list is excellent and we enjoyed a new red acquaintance.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food in disco ambianceWe had a wonderfull evening with good food and nice wine.
For a good talk I have to suggest other venues. The music is to loud , the noise level high.
The menu is very creative. A lot of surprising and creative dishes. A balanced combination of ingredients out of different foodcultures.
A place to go out with friends who like to talk loud.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMThe lamb belly appetizer wasThe lamb belly appetizer was out of this world. A must try.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything was very good.Everything was very good. The only problem was the location of the table. Was too close to other table. The table of the right was less that 10 centimeters. I expressly asked for a nice location because of my wife birthday. However I was not heard.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMThe restaurant that has it allGreat food, fantastic service and yummi drinks! I will most definitely return to this restaurant on my next NYC visit.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMTerrific, inventive, and creativeTerrific, inventive, and creative cooking. We split the cured wild boar, Garrotxa cheese, marinated olives, caper berries and crostini appetizer which was superb. The Szechuan crusted tenderloin and roasted belly of Berkshire pork with braised daikon, pickled baby carrots, and slow poached egg in a truffle dashi broth entree was over the top on taste and presentation--an amazing dish. The roasted Chatham cod with manila clams, crispy potato, sesame wakame salad and smoked uni cream entree was sublime. There is some very creative and wonderful cooking going on here.
The space is a little noisier than I would like but it worked out fine.
The service was absolutely outstanding--as good as the food!!--thank you Aiden.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMA little bit too stuck onA little bit too stuck on themselves. The food was very nice and fancy and I was about ready for the server to say, "The salmon was caught by Bob this morning and Ned drove it to the store in his 1997 Honda Accord."4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMWedding Dinnerwhat an amazing place, came here for our wedding dinner and were very impressed, the service was top quality with good knowledge of the dishes on the menu. Public easily deserves it's Michelin star without any attitude it can bring, well done Public!4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were visiting NewYork fromWe were visiting NewYork from Australia. And wandered past Public at lunch time. It looked relly cool & was buzzing with atmosphere. I noticed there Sunday Supper Menu, so decided to book for dinner. It was fabulous.. The food was amazing. Relly tasty & very well put together as a tasting plate. And very reasonably priced. We will recommend Public to anyone visiting NYC.
Annie. Melbourne ..Australia.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMVery interesting! We had kangaroo,Very interesting! We had kangaroo, lamb belly, & venison. Everything was decent-to-delicious. The waiter was friendly & attentive (not too nosy, not too neglecting). Plus.....he was super handsome (always a plus! ;)Haha.) If the weather was a little warmer it would have been really nice to dine outside, but we stayed inside because it was still chilly. Overall, very satisfying experience. I'd like to come back for brunch. (or to enjoy the handsome waiter's smile.)4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMOverall it's a good restaurant.Overall it's a good restaurant. It has some interesting dishes. It's not just the usual same thing.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMFab even with salty sproutsPublic is a fav of mine. The food, service, ambiance and location are awesome. It's a place where the tables are so close that you just make friends and share some after dinner Riesling. You won't be disappointed. Whatever you order will be fab and just one note to the chef and all- Brussels sprouts are a bit too salty, but I forgive than....will be back often!4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat interior. The venison was just ok as was the sticky toffee pudding. Service was not very attentive.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMSunday supper is a great experienceThe $50 5 course Sunday supper with matched wines at $48 was terrific value for innovative food with flair, made with high quality fresh ingredients. The service was well-informed and friendly and pitched just right for this stylish venue. The interior space is divided in a way that makes for a reasonably intimate dining experience. The menu is presumably different every week but on this occasion included a fabulously rich foie gras lightened with citrus elements, a scallop cake with some Japanese flavours, and a perfectly seared piece of salmon with eggplant, cucumber creme fraiche and anise sabayon. The wine choices were interesting and well-matched, and the server was enthusiastic and knowledgeable.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMMy second time here: firstMy second time here: first was business, second was a date. It's romantic/sexy: Great lighting, definitely feels like a special event, and the food tastes good and scratches a foodie's itch. Everything I've had has been good. The pork belly and tenderloin is good, but very rich. The brussel sprout's were spectacular. And dessert menu has suggested wine/liquor parings (great idea).3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a great dining experience.MeAlways a great dining experience.Meat lovers oasis. Never fails. Great food with an Australian/Kiwi twist (that's a whole lot different/better than just American-Asian fusion).3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved it!I took my fiance to Public for his birthday and we loved it, the service was great, the food was beyond delicious!! It's a must try, and it's perfect for couples, singles, and groups.3/9/2013 12:00:00 AMThey get it right on all counts. They get it right on all counts. The waiter understood the menu, answered all our questions with clarity and intelligence. The sommelier knows the list and guided us through it without a bit of wine-speak. And our dinner was delicious, perfectly prepared and imaginative without a hint of foolishness. Loud? Yes, but worth it. My top dinner and restaurant in a week of dining.3/8/2013 12:00:00 AMHad a terrific ValentinesHad a terrific Valentines Experience at Public.
