From Domaine Restaurant's (Chef Tim Goodell) comes Public Kitchen & Bar, at the historic Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, featuring a menu of eclectic American fare. The landmark hotel's re-imagined old Hollywood style dining hall offers locals and travelers alike this stunning setting reminiscent of a stylish and welcoming private home. A loft-inspired design provides a lighter, brighter space highlighted by black walnut butcher block tables, redesigned 1960s library chairs and diamond-tufted banquettes. At the room's center, a large, three-sided, marble topped bar offers creative cocktails, a moderately priced bottle wine list, beers by draft and bottle and an assortment of cured meats and cheeses. Not terrible, just not memorable in the least. 4 people did perfectly fine, service was fine but I never got the sense that they really knew anything about the food and were just making random suggestions to sell product. You could do way worse with restaurants but I forgot this place as soon as I left."

  • "We were celebrating the engagement and birthdays of my son and his fiancé before attending a concert at the Dolby. I chose the restaurant because it was convenient and didn't expect the food to be that great, but it was outstanding! Everything the four of us ordered was delicious. Two of us had the cod and it melted in your mouth; and two had the duck and they both raved about how tender and delicious it was. We also had the burrata and roasted tomato appetizer and scraped the bowl clean, it was so good. The desserts looked great, but we had to leave to catch our concert so next time we will get there earlier to be sure we can have dessert. Waiter was friendly and helpful in making our meal choices. I would recommend to anyone."

  • "The hostess was GREAT!!! The building is classic... Our waitress was horrible... We both ordered the steaks, filet and NY, it was NOT, I repeat NOT, prime or even close to "prime" meat... I a meat eater from Mastro's-BH to Lugers-Brooklyn.. This was not prime meat!!! Since we both had different cuts, I can say they don't serve prime beef... But our apps the mussels and kale salad were great..."

  • "The entrance and lobby of the Roosevelt Hotel is understated to the point of almost hidden. The same goes for the restaurant. However, if you are lucky enough to find or seek it out, you will be rewarded handsomely with a great meal. We tried appetizers such as the burrata, which was how do I put it, amazing. For entrees we had the monkfish and the pork belly. Both were fantastic. The service was, if I were being critical, a bit slow and the waitress didn't seem to know the dishes and how they were prepared very well. All in all, if I live in LA, I would happily return."

  • "Went here to have dinner and drinks before seeing a movie on Hollywood Blvd. Place was dead early but that was great for us...service rocked, food was really good and the drinks hit the spot. The only dish I didn't particularly like was their Lobster Roll. Tasted more like a crab salad on a roll, kinda false advertising as far as a "lobster roll" goes. The burratta and meatball dishes were big and the endive salad was very tasty. Definitely will consider doing this again next time I have to go to crazy street for something."

  • "Very busy on Sunday for brunch and they didn't seem prepared. Lots of items on the buffet were empty or picked over and not replaced. Our mistake but we didn't know we could order omlettes off the menu but then again the waiter never pointed this out to us. The bacon on the buffet was overly sweet. Our second time here but it was better the first time."

  • "We ate here on Valentine's Day for dinner. We enjoyed the prefixe menu immensely. Neither of us like beets, but what they made with those beets for the salad course was very tasty. The rose pairing was alright. We would have preferred a full wine experience. We will return and recommend this restaurant to others."

The decor and ambiance are nice but the service and the food was really really lacking. We went with another couple and all ordered different things.....sadly each of us was underwhelmed by our choices. We also found the service to be very poor. This is frustrating considering they were not busy in the slightest. Of all of the choices in this area, this would not be a place I would return to."

  • "If Public wasn't in the Roosevelt, I'm not sure I'd even bother. But, because it is in the Roosevelt, and the vibe from the classic, yet hip hotel does set the scene, dining at Public is totally cool. The food is really good, and tasty and served by a lovely server. The wines are great and my glass was never empty. I just like it here and go back fairly regularly. I get there before the girls in short dresses arrive so I don't feel out of place. It's a solid, descent restaurant and a really fun dining experience. It feels like you're away and it's got a real Hollywood meets New York sensibility. Don't stay away because it's at the Roosevelt and do go because it is."

  • "We went on Xmas Eve. Menu was very confusing; we had to ask questions 3 separate times before deciding what to order. "Sunchoke Soup" (made from Jerusalem artichoke) was very, very good; it had chanterelle mushrooms and hazelnuts and it was actually served hot, not lukewarm. "Maine Lobster Roll" was basically a cold sandwich served with fries; it was ok. Butternut squash side dish really wasn't very good at all. Historic atmosphere was a plus."

At $160.00 for lunch for 3 it is more expensive than almost any place in Hollywood with very average food. We should have gone to The Palm!"

  • "We were pleasantly surprised at how nice the Roosevelt Hotel is inside after all these years. Granted it was decked out for the holidays, The Public Bar was very pleasant, well lit, offered a good variety on the buffet and had a very attentive staff. We went on a Travelzoo coupon but would go back without coupon. The Bloody Mary and enough "merry" in it to make it worth the price. I questioned the use of portion control containers for yogurt and bruschetta but decided I liked them. If I were to change/add one thing, I would put up a waffle/omelet bar in a corner to offer fresh items cooked to order. I would have chosen that over the usual scrambled eggs in a chaffer - even though they were good. Enjoyed the whole experience."

It was our first visit, but already can't wait to try it again. We had the kale salad (absolutely amazing), bone marrow, NY steak and duck entrees. Each was top notch. Thank you Public Kitchen for an amazing experience (it was our first time there, and truly remarkable)."

  • "We took my son's GF to this place for her Birthday and it was really wonderful. The group ordered drinks that were well prepared and interesting. Terrific bartender. The food was also great. I had mussels, my wife chicken and the others steak. They were also excellent. The room itself was like the 1930's in this old Hollywood setting. I would actually go back to this place for the food, ambiance and drinks. Nice experience."

  • "I was on a weekend trip to Hollywood with 2 girlfriends and we made reservations at the Roosevelt for brunch. The room was very nice, staff friendly and accommodating. The spread was elegant, not overdone, but we left full and enjoyed the food. Also a nice touch was that they offered a bloody mary bar and cantalope pineapple juice in additional to oj. We drank prosecco which was very nice. Wish I lived closer so I could become a regular! A must try in a famous hotel! Go!!!"

  • "We had a wonderful time for dinner. The portions I found on par with any good restaurant, and at a far more reasonable price. We had the beef tartare and it was amazing, we both had the scallops: amazing! The rolls were delicious. We did not have dessert because we were off to an event and running late. The service was great from the hostess to the wait staff, and the decor is wonderful vintage hollywood; I don't understand people who did not "get it"... it seemed pretty clear to us, and we thought it was perfect considering the history of the hotel. I can see how it could be la little loud if it was packed, but it was pleasant when we were there. The drinks are not cheap, but good. Nice size pour on the wine. WIll be back for sure."

  • "PK&B may be my new fav. Not what I would have expected from a Hollywood Landmark hotel restaurant. Our party of four was there to celebrate three birthdays. We started with the Parker rolls, freshly baked in a small tin and amazing stuffed potato balls. We enjoyed the scallops, lobster roll, cheeseburger and kale salad. Portion sizes were perfect. We split the rocky road and pear tart, both highly recommended. I was actually shocked when I got the bill--very reasonable for four. Comfort food at its best!"

  • "We went prior to a show at the Dolby across the street at Hollywood and Highland. The food varied from very good to excellent with the duck breast and the cobbler clearly in the excellent rating. This is American with a little French twist. It was noisy, partly because of a large private group at a side room and also they were very busy and crowded. Salads were very creative also, especially the gem salad. Definitely will go back and recommend it as well to others."

  • "Restaurant opened a few minutes late, but they seated us quickly. The brunch food was very good, but they were out of eggs and bacon when I went thru the line. Staff were very efficient and gracious. Would have appreciated it if coffee was included in the travelzoo brunch deal. The ambience was a bit odd. No music (the acoustics aren't good so music would probably make it impossible to hear one another) and it looked like every single table had a travelzoo voucher (you can tell because there is a bottle of Prosecco included). There was a long line of people out the door, dressed like they shopped at the West Covina mall, holding their printed vouchers. I think they should limit the number of vouchers they accept on a given morning."

  • "We bought a promotional brunch certificate for two. The food was terrible! The "hot" items were barely warm; the bacon was burned and the "grilled" bread was cold and stale. The Proseco was nicely chilled. The server came by often to check on what we might need."
