  • "Curios about the chance to choose beer in a decent list for Chicago downtown and to see some 'real life' chicagoans watching a sport finale, I came to PH. I was asked whether to sit at bar or table and, preferring the last, the girl bringing me to table made a disapproval expression. Table was in the dirtiest corner, my chair 30 inches from the cleaning equipment. Chicken was 2/3 days old, without any taste, fries were dramatically dripping oil and were destroyed by overcooking. Beers were decent but the vast majority of the list is served in bottles and the selection of local (Illinois) beers is non existent."

  • "I came across Public House as I was searching on the computer the day before we went downtown by per accident and I am VERY happy that I did! The place is awesome! We sat outside and people watched enjoying the site and the sounds of the city I love! The food is Great! We started with fried pickles and dry rubbed fries with a few dipping sauces. My wife had a flatbread one of my daughters tried the Mac N Cheese with pulled chicken, mushrooms and truffle sauce my other daughter had the fried chicken sandwich (which they grilled for her - A+++) and I had an amazing fish sandwich with a great relish. Our waitress was Elizabeth and she was a rock star!! We are going to be going back to our Public House again next time we head into the city."

  • "Good variety on the menu - I brought clients here who ordered everything from burgers to quinoa salad. One person ordered wine, another had sparking water. It was quiet enough to have a business discussion but not so quiet others could overhear. Everyone enjoyed their food and I appreciated that the servers didn't rush us even though it was fairly busy."

  • "Stopped in before a comedy show and was impressed. They had a great selection of craft beers and options for trying them until you find ones you like. The food was great and really enjoyed the burger and parmesan garlic fries! Our server was great and well versed on the beers. The decor was modern and trendy and definitely inviting.   • "This was my first time at Public House, and it did not disappoint. My friend, who's been there before, insisted we start off with the french-fried pickles -- and I'm glad she did! They were great, as was my salad with spicy adobo dressing. It's a cool-looking restaurant, and I'm sure it's a fun bar as well when the weather is good."

  • "If you like to have a few drinks with lunch or dinner, you have to get a booth with a table tap. Its awesome fun any time of the day or night. A monitor built in to your table keeps track of how many ounces of beer and alcohol you pour and charges you accordingly. We have Bud Light, Hoegarden and vodka at our table and our server hooked us up with Bloody Mary mix and fixings to make our own blood marys and cranberry juice for vodka cranberries and plenty of ice. Oh and yeah the beer was flowing too! Food was good, especially the chorizo mac and cheese and the garlic fries."

The smoked wings were delicious; well-balanced blend of flavors. The pastrami sandwich was reminiscent of Katz's Deli in NY, which is high praise. Good beer selection."

  • "If you want bar food and drinks, go here. If you want a full dinner, I would skip it. The portions are huge, but the food is really greasy. The mac & cheese is wonderful though and I'd go back for just that and a drink. The beer was sub par. They have so many beers on tap which is great but I thought taste-wise the volume affected the quality negatively."

  • "I took my work team there for a holiday lunch. We had 7 people and they stuffed us into a horseshoe shaped booth even though there were plenty of other tables. Since it was lunch time on a weekday it wasn't super noisy, but you still couldn't hear what people were saying at the other end of the table. Our service was not good. Our waitress was grumpy and didn't say much. A couple of us tried to make alterations to a menu item and she basically told us we couldn't...how hard is it to make a chicken burger with either a chicken breast or beef instead of ground chicken? So we ended up getting the item as is and it wasn't good at all. It had absolutely no flavor. I ate the parmesean garlic fries and that's it. I won't be going back..."

  • "A level up from your normal sports bar/pub joint. Better to reserve seating ahead of time. Scenery can get a little loud. Busy place on the weekends. We went there on a Sunday, still was busy. Food ok. Drinks a little on the pricey side. Public house is a better place to go have a casual outing with a group of friends. Using open table to reserve seating was nice. No phone call needed."

  • "Public House is less than a block away from House of Blues, at State and Kinzie. Great environment to pre-show dining in a high-energy, young and vibrant space. Great opportunities for seating for 8 at a booth fitted with beverage taps, and as many glasses as you could need. Be bold and order at least one mac and cheese 'creations'! I will definitely return as will my friends in our group. Reservations strongly recommended; if via Open Table, call Public House after confirmation to arrange for any special needs or services. The staff is great!"

  • "I met a friend for a networking lunch and we ate outside on the patio. It was a nice lunch, we both had salads, and it was overall a good experience. The scenery and ambiance was open and nice, with a view of the Trump Tower. I had the grilled chicken Caesar salad, and I was not impressed with the chicken....It was cubed and not particularly flavorful. I've had much better chicken. But the rest of the experience was good, server was helpful and friendly."

  • "Decided to meet up with a friend to do some business and drinking so we chose this place and it was a hit! First and foremost is always the quality of customer service. And they are great! Very polite, nice, and not too pushy. Next is the drinks. And the special beer was fantastic! Food is always a plus at a bar. And they did very well. The guacamole was very different with peaches and salads were very good. Great place!"

  • "We came for brunch last weekend and had bad first experience with the doorman/bouncer. I walked into the Public House to check in with the host, and huge man jumped in front of me and barked something. I didn't understand him, so I just said Hi. He responded with one word:'ID!!'. I wasn't expecting to be stopped at 11AM to show my ID. It's not a club, so I don't understand why they would need a rude bouncer demanding IDs at 11AM. The server was nice and the food was good, but I don't think we'll return."

  • "Came here the first day they served brunch and was impressed with the meal! Everything was served in a good amount of time, all of our dishes tasted good, no delays! Spanish benedict is a fun spin on a typical benedict, although the masa could have been lighter (too heavy for the heavy brisket). Portions are generously sized! Bloody Maries mixed very well. Kobe brisket melted in your mouth, the waffles in the chicken and waffles dish were fantastic (dense and tasty, nothing basic about them!), and omelette also made perfectly to order."
