Diner Reviews
  • "We have now eaten at Public House for brunch and lunch. The all of the food we tried was decent. The eggs were well cooked, the MD crab soup was pleasant - much lighter broth than your average crap soup which allowed the crab meat to shine through. A little pricey but it is National Harbor. They need to survive. The crab cake was average. I prefer mine with less filler and lumps of meat, not mushed into a patty. Overall, you won't have a bad meal and they certainly aim for menu variety over having a specific theme. You just won't leave there feeling wowed."

  • "Overall, an unremarkable experience. Everything was fine. The only problem was our tables position near door. During first half of meal door was left open causing cold draft."

  • "I brought my girlfriend here for a date and the place was awesome! Made reservations and got seated immediately after we arrived. We had a great server named Jared who was extremely helpful and courteous! The wait time for our food was very short yet the food was amazing! I will definitely go back again!"

  • "The old bay wings are the best! This was a new find for us and we are now asking our local in FL to try wings with old bay rub. I wasn't overly impressed with the Maryland crab soup though. It was missing something."

  • "I had a reservation for 10am on a Saturday. The restaurant didn't get packed while we were there (we left at 1) but active. Food was amazing. There weren't a lot of brunch options, but the crab Benedict and the fruit granola were both outstanding. My one complaint is the $9 mimosas. It's a mimosa, for crying out loud. My 3 year old could make one. (That's a joke; I don't have a 3 year old.) I get that this is your typical DC pricing, but lest we forget, national harbor is in PG county. Overall good, but a bit pricy."

  • "on arrival (we had a reservation and were even early) we were shuffled off to a side room which although large served as our "private dining room" for almost 1/2 hour. There were many seats available in the main part of the restaurant. The restaurant had apparently decided to seat anyone who was over 30 or an in costume attendee of the anime conference in this side room. The steak and veg special were actually great as was the hummus plate, but the southwest chicken salad, etc were poorly executed with its best feature being the dry chicken. The highlight of the evening was the waitress. She was cheerful and upbeat and very service oriented."

  • "Our waiter Steven gave the best service to us . He was on top of things , he could explain the menu in full detail . We Never waited over 2 mins for him to return to our table. He made us feel like we were his only table that night. If you ever go have dinner at the Public house ask for Steven."

  • "My husband and I each got the crab cakes and paid $70...the food was just ok. Wayyyy overpriced, the waiter was really attentive however. I don't think I'll come back to eat here."

  • "I took my girlfriend there to enjoy a nice evening on the harbor and it was really pleasant. Just be careful if you plan reservations after 8:30, it turns into a club. So be mindful of where you sit. Other than that, it was really nice."

  • "While the hummus plate was awesome, I ordered the southwest chicken salad, and 3 of the sliced grilled pieces were cooked so long that they were rock hard in my mouth and inedible. While my friend ordered the asian chicken wrap and couldn't taste the sauce and the chicken he said was dry. But the waiter came back and gave him 4 different sauces for him. Nothing could be done about my chicken tho. Like I said the hummus was awesome."

  • "The website gave a much different impression of Public House. My wife and I do not get out much so we were looking forward to eating at Public House as the menu was promising. When we arrived, we realized that the bar area took up much of the restraunt. Even though we had reservations we were placed at a table just feet from the bar, which was loud and distracting. There were open doors on the other side of the bar, parallel to us, in which folks were going in and out of for a smoke and the smell came right into our table. I asked the hostess if we could sit in the "dining" area, and she said that those were for folks with a reservation. I had a reservation and wondered why we could not eat in the "dining" area."

  • "This is a bar not a restaurant. My drink order took 10 minutes (should have left then) and my dinner order (a burger) 35 minutes. The music was loud with a constant driving rythm, I couldn't wait to get out."

  • "We were there on a Friday night about 8:30pm and it was extremely busy with a 45 minute wait for a table, so thankful for Open Table reservations!! Music was loud but it's a bar. We both had salads, the beef tenderloins were extremely tender and the berries were plea tiful and delicious! Expensive, yes but it's in the National Harbor, so we expected that. We would definitely go back!"

  • "This restaurant is ok for hanginng out with your friends and getting a drink. Wouldn't recommend for families or couples. Food was just ok, not that great. I've been here before and the food was much better. Server was ok, friendly enough."
