  • "While the hostess and bar tenders were excellent, our service at the table was absolutely pitiful. Our waiter was totally indifferent and completely un-attentive. No water or wine/cocktail refills until we flagged another server down to help us out and no follow-up on our meal once delivered. When he did arrive with our alcoholic beverages he never noticed all 4 of us were out of water.... We were left that way for the remainder of the evening."

  • "This was my second time at provisions after a very long absence. Overall experience was not great. For a start, the place is extremely noisy and makes it hard to have a conversation. The food although creatively conceived was extremely salty. We had the meat plate and the caeser salad to share among the 3 of us. Both very salty (although to be perhaps expected from the cure meat plate). The main was also salty, I had the halibut with the white gazpacho and my wife opted for the cresta the gallo with the hen of the woods. Service was ok! Not sure what the fuss is with this place. Houston seems to have many similar restaurants which are buzzing but lack true merit."

  • "Loved the atmosphere here very modern and industrial. The bread and cheese tastings are to die for, had a twist on an old fashioned for a drink and it was very good, all they cocktails sound good and they also have an extensive wine list. Ordered the oysters which were decent, had better ones. Also ordered the Cresta di Gallo pasta which was alright, I am not into pastas in a creamy Parmesan sauce so it was the wrong thing for me to order. Heard deserts here are on point so need to come back for that. Lastly really amazing service, our waiter was so knowledgeable."

  • "After a long summer vacation coming back to Houston and Provisions for yet another great lunch. Lots of great new additions on the menu including an awesome nicely spiced beet soup with lightly fried goat cheese croutons and a few new exciting pasta dishes and other main course features. The ever changing menu with new specialties and exciting dishes makes this restaurant a very cool place to revisit. I am always amazed how each dish is so well crafted with flavor, presentation and individuality. I just love their cooking. Provisions is definitely one of the best places to eat in Houston. They never disappoint! Well sometime if they take a favorite dish off the menu but then up pops another and round and a round and a round we go..."

  • "the well heeled crowd is in the 20 something early 30 something, well heeled. If you struggle to get a table, just show up at the bar and use the communal table, you get the full menu there as well as the bartender is all yours! The menu is good but a lot of finger food, I had a pasta which was good but very spicy and my friend had seafood which was a really meager portion, but everything was delicious and service is great"

  • "It was our first visit for my daughter's birthday. This was one of the best dining experience we have had, and not just in Houston. Fine dining service with a casual, hip ambiance. Personal attention when ordering wine and inquiring about the wildly interesting menu. The dishes were layered with intricate flavors. The Strawberry Rubarb tart was a a touch of baking brilliance. We will be back and will also try The Pass. Thank you, Provisions, for making a birthday celebration so special and memorable."

  • "The atmosphere and service were wonderful. Cool, hip, urban and young. The food sounded great on the menu but the taste was nothing special. For example, we had the Ham O'Day, which turned out to be over priced, baked procuitto and a smearing of grainy mustard. It was not tasty, unique or flavorful - we ate maybe 1/3 of it. Then we had the fried green tomato pizza, basil and goat cheese - sounds amazing right? Nope, boring again - it was flavorless, not sure why, I'm not a chef. I do LOVE to eat, we are not snobby eaters and have no suggestion for improving the food, just that everything we ordered should have been a flavor explosion. We were so disappointed and with so many great restaurants in Houston we won't be coming back."

  • "Provisions was terrific! We were one of just a few tables eating an early dinner, but by the time we left, the place was packed. The only downside to the laid-back vibe of the small dining room is that the tables are too close together. The service: kind, knowledgeable, helpful. The food is... delicious. And fun. And inventive. And delicious (yes - again!). Some of the plates are smaller and make it fun to share - my table of two ordered one of the bread choices, a pasta (ricotta gnudi - amazing!!), a meat, a salad, and we split two desserts! It was filling, but not overly so. Don't forget a quick trip to the "facilities" - Julia Child playing over the speakers made me smile and take my time. Thanks for a great evening!"

  • "This is a great restaurant to share with friends and try lots of dishes. The food is served to you in the center of the table and everyone is able to take their portion. If I went to Provisions on a date, I would feel that I missed out on trying other food items. What I enjoy most about the restaurant is how the cooking always has a home style taste, but is very creative with their flavors. I would recommend everything we ordered: - English Muffin/Bacon Gastrique/Camembert (Sheep) - Roasted Heritage Breed Pork/Mustard/Havarti/Radish - Smoked Kielbasa/Pepper Relish/Mustard - Parmesan Bucatini/Meatball/Egg/Red Gravy - Beet Cake/Yuzu Curd/Clilantro Ice Cream/Juniper"

  • "The experience was delightful. The food is quirky. The best we had was the Hog o' Day, divinely grilled Diver scallops, scrumptous country pate with a hunk of toasted and buttered baguette, and the earthy Crest di Gallo - a nice concoction of mushrooms, yeast and pasta with a parmesan sauce. I had 'Earth Girls Are Easy' with rum, grapefruit, maraschino liqueur and beet juice as the sweetener. Brilliant. Wine list is ecletic. The Sauvignon Blanc from Slovenia was excellent. Who would have thought? We finished the meal with the Redcurrant Jelly Donuts and the Strawberry-Rhubarb tart. Peter Pearce, the food manager is impressively knowledgable on food, Scotch. wine and guided us to the best on the menu. Definitely for foodies."

  • "This place was recommended by my friend but I was pretty dispointed. The food was made of good ingredients but the combination did not make sense. We ordered Chorizo mussels, a Kielbasa (sausage), a goat cheese pizza and a piece of blue chesse. The two entrees did not come with any sides, which was unexpected. We could barely find the goat cheese on the goat cheese pizza. Overall the food was not bad but not as good as expected. Also, even though the service was friendly a waiter spilt half of my wine glass on my lap. it was white wine so it was ok but my table remains sticky for the whole dinner and the waiter did not offer to not charge for this glass of wine. the food is ok, the place is nice but I wouldnt recommend the place to a friend"

  • "As a European who seeks out fine dining experiences over the world, I have been going to P&P on every single visit to Houston for a while now. This gets me in there every 4 to 6 weeks. My Spanish friend, who shares my love for fine food, and I like it so much that we order exactly the same every time... same wine, same starter, same entrees.... The only variable is seating... until last week! The previous times had been consistently amongst the best dining experiences in Houston. Not at all this time: waiter served us wine by the glass instead of the bottle we ordered (7 glasses at 12$ a piece of the same wine!), bread was burned, hamachi crudo was to thick and half normal size, pasta was lukewarm despite request to serve it hot, ..."

  • "Overall it was good but not impressive. There's a lot of hype and we were at Provisions not the Pass so I thought there should be some flexibility in the menu. I asked for 2 simple things: to pair a bread and cheese differently than they had paired and to substitute cucumbers for spinach. No to both. So even though most of the food was good (not fabulous) it left a bad taste in my mouth. Prices are OK but portions are small. Drink WAY over priced. The dessert wasn't described accurately and instead of cheesecake I got a pile of foam that was tasteless."

Not a lot of choices on the menu and I don't mind admitting, a few ingredients I am not familiar with. I had a fried green tomato, avocado sandwich. I know those! Excellent. Guest had brat w artichoke soup. Seemed pleased. Noise level was just fine for conversation. Some interesting cocktails on the menu that my wife and I may try in the future."

  • "This was our first time dining at Provisions. The atmosphere was great....a very energetic vibe. The food was good, though not outstanding....but maybe it was just what we chose based on the dietary requirements of the people we were with. It was good enough that we definitely want to give it another try, and taste some of the other items on the menu. Our server was nice enough, though after a few stops at our table, we were hard-pressed to get his attention for some of the night. We did encounter one kitchen mishap (a little something in the food that...well....shouldn't be there), but the manager took care of the issue, and made sure that we were compensated, as well. All in all a good experience, and we will give it one more try."

  • "Food is absolutely delectable no doubt. Atmosphere is great and it's like. New York ... Raw and urban. Waitstaff were very friendly and nice; however, when you pour a glass of wine ... PLEASE GIVE A FRESH WINE GLASS ... Thus the lack of waitstaff etiquette of dining. Noise level is very very high. Had to lean almost across the table to talk. Overall food and Atmosphere made it wonderful."
