A word from Provisions
A dining room built around a pivotal instrumental element, a mammoth wood- burning oven designed to churn out anything with smoky traces and a pizza-like crust. All urban rusticity, patrons will find themselves in a convivial space where confident food is served in a relaxed atmosphere.

Subtle and polished, “Provisions” aims to serve properly sourced ingredients through thoughtful presentation. Whether dining at the bar where expert cocktails and a broad wine list are available to wash down seasonal menu items, or seated in the lush outdoor patio, diners will witness pizzas made with good ingredients married well, roasted meats, and fresh pastas surfacing from a wood fired oven, all cooked in hot fragrant smoke.

Dinner was fabulous. We were running a little late, but I called the restaurant to let them know and they let me know there was no problem. The food is by far some of the best food I've had in Houston EVER. The waitress was helpful and pleasant--I like not feeling like I'm being hurried. Seriously, I love this place.

I enjoy dining out as often as possible. Provision's menu offers eating adventures in dimensions that pleasantly surprise me each time I order something for the first time. It's as if adding that "something special" to everything is a prerequisite before that item can be added onto the menu. Even their drinks such as their version of a bloody mary includes some exotic sounding Japanese spice flavor (no, not wasabi), a skewer of veggies and crispy blocks of pork belly WITH a beer sidecar for a surprising reasonable price. Who does that?!! Atmosphere is comfortably casual and the waitstaff is informed and attentive but not looming.

We ordered two appetizers, soup, pizza, and dessert. 4 of the 5 of these dishes was in "wow", "holy cow" land! Just amazing flavors. Oysters are a must order whenever I eat at Provisions, the cold beet soup has only one comparable in my 50+ years of dining. The Duck Confit Pizza with currants exceeded every expectation, and will have me re-think my "go-to" everyday pizza (it just won't taste as good becuase now I know what is REALLY good. The blackberry dessert was soufflé -ish and perfect. It is just hard to believe each of these dishes was at such a level, and that I had them all in one meal. Outstanding and Amazing!!!

We were disappointed in the food. While it was interesting combinations of flavors, we found the two entrees too salty and too spicy for what the description inferred. The Brussels sprouts were good as was the salad, but the beet soup had too citrus, Cep mushroom pasta too spicy, and the pork ragu had way too much salt. Don't think we will be returning. Looked like a really cool place, but too expensive for what we got.

Pretty bad birthday dinner here. The corn semolina bread was ok--quite bland. Cheese was good, but blueberry chutney was bitter. The halibut was alright--also on the bland side. Only 2 scallops for an outrageous $18, and the staff was not knowledgeable about the ingredients in their dishes! I was clearly upset, complaining to my dinnermates...and the staff did nothing to ameliorate the situation. This was truly an awful experience, especially since I was celebrating my birthday. Definitely thought the staff of Provisions could have done a much better job. Will never return for sure!!!

We had such an enjoyable evening at Provisions. The service was prompt and attentive. The menu filled with interesting combinations of ingredients, each of the 4 items we ordered were delicious. We shared each item family style and everyone enjoyed them all. Cannot wait to go back and try some more menu items.

The burrata pizza at Provisions is my new favorite pizza. The only problem is the rest of the menu looks amazing but its so hard for me not to order this pizza! Drinks are great. Salads are great. Appetizers are great. Everything is uniquely matched together to make great dishes and a wonderful dining experience. Julia Chiles in the bathroom is a unique experience as well... works well with the hipster foodie feel of the place. I recommend, especially for a date night.

This was my second visit to Provisions, and the first time a year ago was great. This time, we had a series of bad experiences. The bar tab added $40 of drinks to our bill that were not ours, the waiter recommended an AWFUL pizza, and we then ordered something different. The second pizza was mediocre at best. The best things were the mixed drinks and the baguette bread and butter. Not going back.

I ordered from the 3 course prix fixe menu. For my first course I ordered the bibb salad, but I was told that they had changed to a different salad. It was a very large salad, but it was not the flavor I wanted.....lots of over-powering blue cheese. To me, substituting a simple bibb salad with a very pungent blue cheese covered salad is a poor move. The halibut entree was very flavorful but 1/3 the size of the salad. The banana split soft serve was tasty and larger than the entree, but it had an additional topping that wasnt listed on the menu. It was red and crunchy but a little odd tasting, so we scraped it off. My companion had the ham o' the day w/ mustard & rye. However, no rye bread came with it, so he ordered a baguette.

It was an interesting dining experience. I had beet soup - it was too sweet and not chilled enough, but interesting. I got a wonderful piece of halibut that they brought nicely presented. I almost cried when they poured sweet broth over it and in a way ruined it (it was still tasty, but would've been much better not floating in sweet broth). Other people had ravioli - flavors were too strong and difficult to finish; and a pork chop - good but nothing to rave about. One cocktail we orederd was excellent.

From the moment you walk in Provisions you can tell the owners are detail oriented in every aspect of their business. The decor is a mix of industrial and rustic. The menus are cleverly on the butcher paper covering the tables. The staff is well trained. We let the waiter choose all of our food and he did a incredible job! The seasonal salad was fresh and creative, the fluke was light and delicious, the unfortunately forget the name of the pasta we enjoyed (it included mushrooms and question mark shaped pasta) was in inventive - one of the best pastas I have enjoyed in years!!!

This is my second time at Provisions, and I enjoyed the food both times. The menu is creative with odd food pairings that taste great together with the exception of dessert. There is a large beer, wine, and cocktails menu with equally creative pairings. The food is a tad overpriced (we spent nearly $100 for two both times we have been there for 1 beer, bread, entree, and dessert). The ambiance is strange-- it's a small, modern restaurant with very cramped seating and low ceilings. We unfortunately heard our neighbors' conversations louder than our own, so it was difficult to have a romantic dinner. Our waitress was a bit over worked and she came across as rude at times, but the other waitstaff seemed friendly.

Our waiter was wonderful, except he didn't tell us why our meal was taking so long. There had to be an issue in the kitchen, because the restaurant wasn't crowded. And our food... it was just ok. I keep going back because I want my experience to be wonderful, and the food keeps being a bit strange, maybe weird. Look, it's ok to be funky, but when almost all items need explaining, it's not that fun anymore. I am going to have to reconsider going for business lunches where the menu needs to be a bit more tame to sooth the palate and tastes of many who might not be "foodies".

While the hostess and bar tenders were excellent, our service at the table was absolutely pitiful. Our waiter was totally indifferent and completely un-attentive. No water or wine/cocktail refills until we flagged another server down to help us out and no follow-up on our meal once delivered. When he did arrive with our alcoholic beverages he never noticed all 4 of us were out of water.... We were left that way for the remainder of the evening.

This was my second time at provisions after a very long absence. Overall experience was not great. For a start, the place is extremely noisy and makes it hard to have a conversation. The food although creatively conceived was extremely salty. We had the meat plate and the caeser salad to share among the 3 of us. Both very salty (although to be perhaps expected from the cure meat plate). The main was also salty, I had the halibut with the white gazpacho and my wife opted for the cresta the gallo with the hen of the woods. Service was ok! Not sure what the fuss is with this place. Houston seems to have many similar restaurants which are buzzing but lack true merit.

Loved the atmosphere here very modern and industrial. The bread and cheese tastings are to die for, had a twist on an old fashioned for a drink and it was very good, all they cocktails sound good and they also have an extensive wine list. Ordered the oysters which were decent, had better ones. Also ordered the Cresta di Gallo pasta which was alright, I am not into pastas in a creamy Parmesan sauce so it was the wrong thing for me to order. Heard deserts here are on point so need to come back for that. Lastly really amazing service, our waiter was so knowledgeable.

After a long summer vacation coming back to Houston and Provisions for yet another great lunch. Lots of great new additions on the menu including an awesome nicely spiced beet soup with lightly fried goat cheese croutons and a few new exciting pasta dishes and other main course features. The ever changing menu with new specialties and exciting dishes makes this restaurant a very cool place to revisit. I am always amazed how each dish is so well crafted with flavor, presentation and individuality. I just love their cooking. Provisions is definitely one of the best places to eat in Houston. They never disappoint! Well sometime if they take a favorite dish off the menu but then up pops another and round and a round and a round we go...

Heard of P&P from a Bon Appetite article and I knew I had to visit next time I was in Houston. Reservations for 2 on a friday night at 19:15, free valet parking, and taken straight to our table, what's not to love. Waiter was knowledgeable, offered suggestions but wasn't pushy, found out what we liked and helped us from there. Had a great bottle of Pinot Noir, Salad, Soup, Haddock, and Scallops. Everything was fantastic, portioned to share multiple items around the table. Oddly enough the part I remember most was the bathroom, it's quite unique and exceptionally well done.
