From the time you're greeted until you leave, what a fabulous experience. The service and the food are even better than that famous restaurant in Youtville, CA. We loved the new prefix menu. I also appreciated the flexibility they allow you on your choices. Lastly, the wine suggestions were superb.

i was higly disappointed by my experience: the so called seafood menu that i was overseeing in reality has been an uneven mixture of dishes heavily influenced by the french standard with a strong use of butter cream and salty reductions. my overall palatale memory is of fat. the service was very lame and the wine list lacking many territories and choice.

I thought the "fussiness" and small portions and high price would annoy me. It did not. It was an extraordinary experience for me and my wife, who only eat at restaurants like this once in a while. A "journey of flavor" is the best way to describe. One of the top 3 in LA. Has to be.

Many years ago on a vacation we took a taxi to our first meal of the trip. Upon mentioning the restaurant and that it was our initial meal the driver let us know it should have been our last meal. He was correct as every thing else fell short by comparison. Providence set a new standard for us.

Great as always but felt a little rushed. We do admit that it was very busy however. Truffle pasta and 63 degree egg were outstanding. Sadly, spot prawns were out of season. Everything else was amazing, cheese cart was a little smaller this time than in previous days, not sure if maybe because we were in side room vs main room and navigability issues limit the big papa table. Young twenty something couple sitting next to us killed the mood with their inability to appreciate Michelin caliber food, complaining that they wanted the whole lobster not a cross section of it, and expressing dislike of dishes to wait staff, saying they prefer 'lamb sliders', I'm not making this up. It's sad when your favorite restaurant gets too publicized.

This is one of the best restaurant meals we have ever had the world over. The food is interesting, particularly with regard to bold use of textures and creative, but not off-putting, presentation. We had the seasonal tasting menu with the wine pairings. A couple of the wines (particularly the Santa Barbara white blend) were a little disappointing and not very interesting, but overall we thought the evening exquisite. We recommend that they start the wine pairings sooner as we had a several amuse bouches before starting the tasting menu. They do provide a "complimentary" starting sparkler but it did feel that we had lots of food before wine. A very small complaint about an otherwise exquisitely unflawed evening.

Fantastic meal! We had the 6 course tasting menu. It actually ended up being more like 10 courses by the time they brought out all of their chef's other creations. I love eating like this! Many small beautiful creative delectable courses! All brought out and explained. Each one a piece of art and a taste sensation. Fun for a special occasion or if you want to be wowed by food that you wouldn't have the time to cook at home.

Very well compsed and cheographed dinner with a personalized menu memento and an endless parade of delish tasting plates from fluke shashimi with sweet pepper to duck with pomgranite redux-and crisped nasturshym leaf mini amuse bouch rice seaweed taco-ettes! The staff handled our individual dietary restrictions in stride and the somolier had a knowledge as deep their extensive cellar. They could use some more italian red varitals however. We came early and stayed late and lived it up and loved it.

The service was incredible. It's primarily a fish restaurant, but I don't eat fish. They were very understanding and put together a menu for me that I was able to really enjoy. It's incredibly expensive, but a much different experience than your average night out to dinner. I was a tad disappointed that my $20 glass of wine showed up on the bill at $26 a glass, but it was definitely a GREAT glass of wine. My husband who LOVES fish, enjoyed every dish and was in heaven.

The food and the restaurant was amazing. The service was impeccably handled by staff who were very knowledgeable. The only negative issue was a young couple who felt a need to photograph everything that was placed before them with a flash. The staff did nothing to stop this. They suggested we might change tables but never did anything about that either.

My husband & I decided on the Seasonal menu! We were first offered a bread trio w/butter & sea salt. So YUM! My hubs is GF. They had no GF bread for him. Kind of odd for a restaurant of this calibre. Our first amuse bouche was a spoon of Brown Derby (bourbon, grapefruit & honey) sort of gelatin-like. A little burst of the original cocktail! Then we got tiny little rice tacos in a leaf/shell. Sounds so simple but I could have totally made a meal of it. Then we got a selection of 3 seafood pops...very fun, fresh & delish. There was another crudo dish topped w/spicy flowers, then I think there was tuna, then urchin on a bed of smoked cream fraiche & cavier..too yum! salt roasted shrimp, 62 degree egg on polenta, wagyu beef, cheese course. YUM!

Best dinner we have had at an LA restaurant! Very creative food and the taste matched the inventiveness! The chefs tasting is just plain "over the top"! Wine pairings are more then generous.... Absolutely loved the nasturtium taco! How can butter be so delicious? My husband said that every one of the courses were superlative and we have eaten at a few top restaurants! This is a definite special occasion place and should be put on everyone's list of "must do"!

I had never eaten at Providence before, as I'm not exactly a very wealthy person, but I wanted to do something very special for my girlfriend on her birthday. She is pescetarian, so Providence is perfect for her. Everything was phenomenal. Michael Cimarusti's menu was so beautiful, from the oyster selection and sauces to the scallops to the sea bass all the way through the nine courses to the king salmon (for her). I had the duck with chanterelles. The only problem was that she fills up, so she was bursting by the last course. Next time, we will opt for the four course menu, haha. The waitstaff performed the best service I've ever received. All in all, an extremely powerful dining experience, and worthy of its reputation.

We had the nine course menu and every item was deliciou and artistically presented. All allergy requests were gratefully acknowledged. If ratings allowed, I would give a 5+ for the food, absolutely fabulous and met expectations. The service was not at the same level. The timing of the different courses was off, too slow at first and then a rapid turnaround. We ended at the same time as another party who had the same menu, but arrived 30 min. later. While the main waiter was at par with the food, the servers of the different courses varied in their abilities to explain the dishes and the epicurean nuances. As we overheard, the presentations varied among the tables. Would give a 4+ if allowed, merging the 4 for service and 5+ for food.

LOVELY restaurant--although gastronomically, I was surprised to note the food stylings & pairings felt a bit staid. Nonetheless, I enjoyed the food overall. But I was left insulted by the wait staff & host--a man with a French accent in a gray suit who poured our wine pairings. We were seated next to a hallway where servers travel/convene. At one point, I saw the gray suited man gathered with waiters discreetly pointing at me and laughing. Later he told me "We were taking bets on whether or not you might lick your plate clean, sir. You really seem to like to eat." Wow! Rude! I also thought the fake bar candles were tacky. The cheese cart was broken down before we were offered the option of doing a course. That was a disappointment.
